Check in started things on a very sour note. Then welcome amenities that were proudly offered never arrived. Then hidden charges on the bill. $90 breakfast for 2 because they charged for coffee, flat water, and sparking water. Spa credit for $100 wouldn’t cover any service-the least expensive was $185.
I have no problem paying for value. In fact I’m happy to pay a lot for a nice experience. This was a terrible value for a marginal experience, and that’s a generous characterization.

The staff is superlative. The food was excellent! The bar is great and for guests only. The rooms, private patios and hot tub all felt very private. One of my favorite places I’ve stayed. I will definitely be back.

This is a resort for those who want to feel like they’ve been taken back in time to Palm Springs circa the 1950’s. The beautifully restored bungalow-style oasis has all the touches of the past with some modern twists. The rooms are simple and beautifully appointed, most facing in to the relaxing central heart of the property resplendent with a heated pool and hot tub, bar, hammocks, bocci court and more. The word oasis comes to mind at this peaceful retreat with a friendly and accommodating staff and lush, beautifully manicured gardens.

Nice rooms with very cool design, I would say the good experience ends there.

The hotel is severely understaffed, getting phone calls answered before our stay to confirm the reservation required a call to AMEX so they could get through. A call to the GM of the hotel, Peter, was never returned or acknowledged which is almost unheard of.

Room service required multiple phone calls, food arrived incomplete, and by the time everything was complete it was cold. Not to mention priced at a premium for the mediocre food.

After checking out, the hotel incorrectly credited the AMEX FHR amenities and it has so far required 3 phone calls and two emails and it is still not resolved. It should be noted the hotel has argued with me every step of the way and it will ultimately, again, require the intervention of AMEX.

At $200 a night, this might be OK, at $390 for the second lowest room, with a $44 per night resort charge, and a $30 valet fee, and additional taxes and fees, for a small room that was approx 300 square feet, it is absolutely unacceptable. Lots of better choices in the area that understand luxury service.

The bartender Robert and the front desk associate Chris were both helpful, the rest of the staff isn't worth mentioning.

This was our third year in a row to spend a long weekend here. It's very pricey but worth it as long as everything works as it is supposed to. Customer satisfaction is always in the details on how staff handles problems. And our third trip here had several problems, all handled about as poorly as possible. Staff doesn't seem to have empathy for guests who have things go wrong. And I'm not talking about a minor detail. Our heater/AC unit failed night one and they not only could not fix it, they didn't provide updates to us, or offer to move us to another room. Other service misses were just brushed off as if we should not mind that a $900 per night hotel could not provide top shelf service.

Upon arriving at the spa for my $235 massage I was told to sit in the lobby. Normally I would expect to be offered at least a glass of water. Here I was offered nothing. There is NO SPA waiting area. Concierge was paying much more attention to the people needing bikes than to making sure I was comfortable. He also wore dark sunglasses, made no attempt to get to know me and quite honestly was more concerned with getting “an escort” into an Uber than taking care of a guest. The lobby was very loud and has zero inclination of a comfortable spa experience. About 10 mins before my appointment time I was brought back to the “treatment room”. Basically this was a hotel room. The “room” had two massage tables and a tiny bathroom. I turned the sink on in the bathroom so my therapist wouldn’t hear me go pee. The massage was good. No extras. Not even a glass of water when I was done. I would NOT call this location a spa. I would NOT even consider returning to this hotel as a “guest”. I was treated with complete disrespect and ignored when I saw other “guests”...be showered with attention and what ever they needed. So unfortunate. I came here looking for a relaxing experience and was treated like trash.

Loads going for this resort. It has the feel of a private club with a great sense of arrival, beautifully manicured gardens, a lovely quiet pool area and rooms spread in single storey bungalows around the property offering decent levels of privacy. The door to your own bungalow carries an engraved metal sign with your name which was a nice touch. Our room was pleasant but nothing particularly special. The bathroom was a little on the small side but that was probably a reflection of how old the property is and whatever the level refurbishment that has clearly taken place, this could not really be changed. Servicing of the room was not great - we had to ask for coffee cups to be washed and the mini bar replenished on our second day and for turn down as this was promised us on the first night but didn’t happen.

Service at the resort was really hit and miss. Most of the team were really friendly but it wasn’t the slick operation you’d expect from a resort charging US$800 per night. I didn’t get the impression that there was a General Manager and I think with a GM overseeing the operational side of things, service would be so much better.

Food was good but service at breakfast could be really slow if it was busy and in line with what I say above, wasn’t particularly polished. We didn’t get to eat at SO PA which was disappointing as it was only open on our first night and closed for the other two nights were we’re staying. Unfortunately we weren’t told this when we checked in otherwise we would have dined there on our first night.

We enjoyed our stay but there look to be loads of other good options in Palm Springs so I’d recommend looking elsewhere if you want the kind of service you really ought to be getting for the rates this place is charging.

This would’ve been a fantastic peaceful retreat if I’d been warned about construction prior to booking. The hotel didn’t tell me until I’d prepaid and arrived. Then I was given a second room which was helpful to buffer noise but the main living space and my private pool were thusly compromised. I was given a complimentary massage and they were very nice but I flew there to get away from noise. Not relaxing.

The hotel stay was a big disappointment. The only redeeming aspect is the pool. It is beautiful and the pool staff are A plus! They are kind and welcoming. The juices are fresh and tasty and the cocktails are fantastic. However, the rooms are way over priced at over $500 for a mid week stay off season. The bathrooms are super tiny and mine in Room 5 did not function. Upon arrival I was taken to my room and next to it a mechanical or some sort of room was open which is super unappealing. Then the towels in the bath room were messy and askew. The toilet needed repeated flushing and did not work. Then after my shower when I got a towel the whole bar crashed on my big toe. I alerted the front desk and the staff member was very caring and kind and offered to move my room. However it was dark, we were grabbing a drink before dinner and had to dash. I had unpacked and given it was 1 night only did not want to deal with the hassle factor. Upon check out I was created the $35 resort fee which is laughable given the room rate and the fact the tiny bathroom was a disaster. Further my frined who booked the rooms had multiple other room charges of our group on her credit card. Several weeks prior to arrival I changed my reservation from 2 nights to 1 night and I was not in the system at all even though my friend booked each room under our own names. There are simply too many choices in the desert to return. The room rate does not justify the experience and all I am left with in memory is a bandage on my toe!

I booked this stay through American Express and it included free breakfast and a $100 credit which most hotels accommodate for food and beverage but this resort only validates the credit for spa treatments. I didn’t even know this hotel had a spa. At check out the desk clerk explained they have spa treatments brought in but don’t have an official spa which should disqualify the requirement of the credit. If you don’t have an official spa you can’t require the credit for treatments.
Other than that I like this resort but it is limited in its benefits. They also do not offer dinner reservations for guests at their restaurant- they must eat at the bar or in their room. Shouldn’t guests have priority? It’s not like the restaurant is busy anyway.
This is a nice resort if you’re on a honeymoon or if you want peace and quiet. It’s not a place where people meet or mingle and certainly not a lively location. It’s very quiet and chill and nice for a night or two.

No issues at all! This resort is super private and amazing! I even feel like there is more seating than the hotel even has capacity. I wouldn’t worry about that at all! It’s an amazing stay!

Yes, but they insist on valet, so you need a few dollars for tipping
Answer from Harley

My personal guidelines: 15 to 20% for drinks or dinning, $5 for bellhop/ porter service, $6-8 daily maid service per, spa 20%, taxi 15-20%. Check your tab as it often provides guidelines as to suggested amounts in many restraints. Room service typically includes the gratuity. If the service is superb or sub par I tip accordingly. Enjoy your stay.

The menu at Sopa is different than any offerings within the hotel. There is a breakfast, brunch (Friday-Sunday), and lunch menu offered at the pool bar or in room. There are a couple of items on the Sopa menu that are available elsewhere but its mostly unique.
