This place was great. The views were worth way more than we paid for this motel. Very close to everything but far enough away to enjoy the peaceful ocean views. Could use some updating but it was a clean bed to sleep on for a fair price.
Two PROs: 1) Owners & staff are pleasant 2) Proximity to the ocean. The property is elevated, take a few steps to the rocky edge and look down onto the ocean. There are sandy beaches close by as well. The rooms are outdated and worn, but I didn’t mind because the room was functional. BUT the condition of the carpet is unforgivable; had to wear my slippers. I get it, the environment is humid and guests are rough on the carpet. But I STRONGLY urge them to consider getting a water-proof, non-slip laminate in a nice rustic beachy grey. That’s exactly what I have in my master bedroom and it would class up the room a bit. They can change out the vacuum for a Bissell crosswave. FYI, there’s a freakin’ PUBLIC parking lot between the ocean-view rooms and the ocean. I arrived on a Holiday weekend and it was NON-STOP noise and traffic just a few feet from my hotel door. Many visitors had NO respect for the hotel guests, speeding, blasting music, talking loud just a few feed from our door. Sometimes the vehicle itself would be unreasonably loud (think motorcycles and classic cars). Monday was Labor day, it was SO loud in the parking lot. Tuesday and Wednesday the restaurant/lounge was closed so it was finally quiet. Thursday the restaurant opened and traffic picked up but the noise wasn’t too bad yet. Friday a wedding party arrived, many of them smoked cigarettes and talked loud outside our rooms. I had to close my window because my new nextdoor neighbors were constantly smoking just a few feet from my window. I’m not trying to be a ‘Karen’ but I have respiratory issues so this was more than just a minor annoyance. So no fresh air or ocean sounds from my room after that point. If you like a party atmosphere then you’ll fit right it. But if you want a peaceful quiet trip to the ocean you will NOT get that here, unless you stay on a weekday. Oh, and that restaurant/lounge really needs to mix in some newer music. Oh my gosh, I went there three times and the music was always old, very old.…
You can’t get much closer to the ocean than this! If you leave the windows open you can hear the waves. It is an old school motel. The rooms are small and the walls are thin. But it’s clean, and the beds are comfortable. There was a decent sized refrigerator but I would have liked a microwave as well. The wi-fi was perfect. Very pleasant and helpful management. The attached restaurant has live music on Friday and Saturday evenings so if that bothers you, ask for a room near the office. If you want to hear the waves get an ocean front room. I will definitely be back.
Was good for a night when we landed and downtown was too expensive due to a conference. Wouldn’t stay longer as a bit cramped. Basic room, friendly owners and Ocean on your doorstep. Could do with a refurb - a bit expensive (we paid c$150) for what it was, but that’s supply and demand for you and the free market !
The couple that run this place are very nice. The inside end table tv cabinet table should be replaced/updated looks like elvis era stuff but no big deal your right on top of rockaway beach you can see the ocean on all sides of the motel. Only bad is cars park in the way of the beach in the lot which blocks the view. Nice hot showers old circa elvis but managable. Everything is clean however the carpets days are spent so no barefoot or in socks. No air conditioning so if it is on a warm day it might got warm i open the window and draped the curtains around a fan i brought from home to keep it cool inside. They have coffee and pastry so that is nice. Theres really no stores around unless you drive so i ended up at the resturants and it got expensive. It was not busy off season so was very quiet. If i were saying in that area i would stay again there cheaper than the other hotel chain there and that hotel was not on the beach. They give you soaps little bottles of shampoo / conditioner tissues . I would say bring an extention cord to run your stuff with at least 3 plugins on it i had my phone fan and computer plugged in it had to unplug the light and clock tp plug that and my apnea macine in . Everything in the area is walking distance. The motels rates are compatable to the online sites so it could be best to go dirrect with them if you have to cancel those web sites are very unforgiving i found that out when 2 of my family ended up in ambulance and we tried to cancel. It does get chilly out and misty so bring a coat or wind breaker. The make the bed and replinish things daily emty garbage cans put new toiletries.…
