Enjoyed our stay here. Front desk welcoming. Nice room, spacious, reasonable decor. Nice breakfast. Ridiculous rules about not being able to have a drink on the patio, could only sit inside or go to the lobby lounge bar. Nice location right by the sea and central in the town for the wharf and aquarium.

My husband and I came out to Monterey specifically for Sea Otter. There were so many choices and we actually had booked a different hotel and we changed our mind, cancelled our other reservation and went with Monterey Plaza Hotel. I am so glad we did. It was our first time to stay at this hotel and it was absolutely fabulous! The service was amazing. The person at the lobby that checked in was fabulous (I think his name was Matthew), he was so friendly and helpful. So were the folks at the valet and those who helped us with our luggage. We were also given a glass of pinot noir at check in. Each time we were going out to dinner and asked for the car, the valet team would offer to take us in the the shuttle and pick us up. So we never had to drive out to dinner. The shuttle was a new BMW 7 series, which was really nice. We had a great room with a view of the ocean. It was wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. We had such am amazing view. We also go to witness a proposal from our room that happened out on the beach outside of our window. The room was really nice and clean and well-maintained, just like the rest of the hotel. The gym was really nice an I loved how they had Peloton bikes. We also enjoyed the hot tub and sauna at the top of the hotel. I liked the small touches of apples in the lobby cafe and the gym. They also always offered us bottled water. It was also a great location so that we could walk to the cannery row area and along the beach too. We loved everything about the hotel. But it was the service that made our stay fabulous. We are looking forward to staying here again! …

Monterey Plaza Hotel is an amazing hotel! A true gem! The hotel is beautiful and has a traditional feel in a very wonderful and classy way. We stayed in the room by the terrace level and it was clean and comfortable. Easy access to the terrace hot tub too! The staff at the hotel are the best in the industry! The hotel usually has an explorer goody bag for the little ones, but when we checked in, we were told that they ran out of the bags. However, Mr. Carson at the front desk, went above and beyond to look for any available items that our little boy could enjoy. It wasn’t the complete bag, but it was enough to make him feel delighted! Also, Ms. Reyna from Housekeeping, did the turndown service and she must have noticed our stroller and knew there’s a little guest staying in the room, so she placed a rubber whale toy by the bath tub. It was a thoughtful touch. Both Mr. Carson and Ms. Reyna are MVPs! We also had a wonderful experience at Schooners for dinner! Amazing food and staff! Lastly, the valet staff were very welcoming as well! Thank you Monterey Plaza Hotel for providing us with a memorable and enjoyable stay. We look forward to returning!…

Absolutely the best hotel in the Monterey area. Staff are superb from the front desk to housing keeping, valet/bell hops and waitstaff. The manager personally greeted us. We go to Monterey at least twice a year and this is our go to place. Can't wait until the new coffee shop is open on the plaza again after renovations.

Our experience at this hotel was the best experience my wife and I have ever had at any hotel or hotel experience was due to a concierge Laura Lykins was amazing. My wife and I were celebrating her 60th birthday and she made our visit and our experience. Absolutely amazing. We both want to say thank you to the staff and especially Laura for making our weekend special experience.

My family and I are recurring patrons of the Plaza. We are locals of the Bay Area and this is my mother’s favorite place to unwind. We enjoy staying at the Plaza at least twice a year with all its amenities and the beautiful locales of the Monterey Bay/Carmel region. Sadly, during the pandemic of 2020, we lost my beautiful sister to Cancer on May 4th. We had always planned October timeframe and April for our bi-yearly get aways celebrating my sister and mother’s birthday’s and mine in Spring. This year, I took my mother for the Mother’s Day weekend for a week. We needed a much warranted time to be away and just unwind with new memories. The first night, we dined at Schooner’s restaurant (fabulous food…loved the Cod and Salmon) our server was Monica. While we were reviewing the menu and ordering our drinks Monica asked me for my first name. I gave her my name and she said, I have worked for the Plaza since 2017. I was working in reservations when you had to reschedule your stay due to your sister’s passing. I was in shock since this was 3 years ago and she remembered our last name. Tears welled up for Mom and me since we were so touched that Monica remembered my sister and our loss. I cannot state enough the impact this has had on us. We rave about the Plaza from its stunning location/views, the food and entertainment, etc. as well the employees. They are a phenomenal team from the minute you arrive until we have to part they are all professional, friendly and always with a smile. However, I had to point out Monica for her heartfelt memory of my family. The Plaza has a special place in our hearts and much of it is due to our memories we shared just a few short years ago. Today, we move forward creating new ones and the Monterey Plaza will be a continued part of our story. …

Great location. From our hotel room we could see groups of seabirds, a family of otters, sea lions and dolphins, and even people-watch in the plaza. The rooms were big (but bathrooms small) and well-maintained, with housekeeping twice a day, and complimentary binoculars to view the wildlife. The TV has Chromecast when you want to just watch TV. The hotel itself is beautiful and well-maintained and the staff were welcoming and helpful at all hours. There is a “shuttle” (BMW SUV) driven by a valet that you can reserve to take you places within 5 miles; we almost never used an Uber. Hotel is a very short walk to the aquarium and the shops and dining on Cannery Row. Breakfast at Schooner’s was delicious. There is also a coffee shop, Tidal Coffee, for breakfast to go that opens earlier and was just as good. The harbor view room was noisy when the hotel held events on the plaza, but the events ended by 10pm. Afterwards, you just heard the waves right outside the room and sea lions (faintly) at the Coast Guard pier; all very pleasant. A great choice for staying in Monterey if you want to enjoy a real 4-star luxury experience.…

Just spent a weekend at this hotel and the whole experience was so perfect. Whomever is doing the hiring, keep up the good work because the staff you're hiring seems happy to be there and actually smiles. Everyone is so attentive from the moment you arrive to checking out. We had dinner at Schooners celebrating our anniversary and Bryant our server was super. I've been having some health issues so I had so many questions about the menu and ingredients. He was not annoyed and was so helpful and understanding. He even surprised us with a treat at the end. This was our second time staying here. First time in 2021 was just as good.

Finally I can write a positive review. This hotel is an absolute must visit or overnight stay. Located right on Cannery Row. Everything is in walking distance. We got a corner ocean view room that was beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel restaurant is wonderful. Nice variety of food offerings and both my breakfast & lunch meals were delish. One downfall, a few too many flies around the patio tables. I recommend a window table inside. Overall the hotel, the rooms, the restaurant were all incredible and the hotel staff was outstanding! KUDOS to the management team.
