Stayed at the Spindrift Inn to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we discovered the room looked exactly like the photos online needless to say we were very pleased and the Spindrift gifted us a bottle of wine. The views from our room were perfect and the wood burning fireplace was enjoyed. Breakfast was delivered daily at the time requested on a silver platter with a friendly greeting. Check in was a breeze and the bell man helped us with our luggage. The room was charming with mid century decor and the bed was super comfy. We stayed on the fourth floor in an ocean view king. With Monterey county in the purple covid tier we spent a lot in time in the room enjoying the view and the relaxing fireplace. Housekeeping due to covid is limited however, they accommodate requests. We noticed the morning we left to renew our vows they had gone into our room and tidied up and gave us fresh towels without us asking. That was a nice touch Spindrift Inn. The front desk was always friendly and helpful and the bell men were always ready to offer a helping hand. We stayed three days and wished we stayed longer. We definitely recommend the Spindrift and look forward to staying with them again. Preferably after Covid. During our stay we ordered room service from the Lalla Oceanside grill. The food was delicious and worth the price. We had Fettuccine Alfredo with blacken chicken and the Italian brick chicken. Photo of our food included.

My husband and I stayed in a room that overlooked the bay and had a fireplace...how perfect is that. The room was nicely decorated, with fake rose petals on the bed and chocolates for a bit of nighttime sweets. A light breakfast is brought to your room at a time of your choosing; you select options from their menu of fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled egg, cereal, breakfast bread or toast, juice, milk, coffee or tea. They also have a wine and cheese social in the lobby at 4pm. A few items to note: The TV is mounted on the wall and does not swivel so it faces the bed. If you have kids, note that the windows open but do not have screens or protection to prevent falling out. Parking is valet and off site, so you do not have easy access to your vehicle; plus, it cost $32 which seemed a bit steep. BUT, we had a lovely stay here and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic stay.

Just a few negatives first: I had expectation of a fancy schmancy room because of the photos on the website. The room has seen better days. The furniture is a bit beat up. This is just nit picky on my part, but the photo showed the room having an area rug in front of the fireplace, and my room didn't, so it lacked the visual warmth from the photos. Second negative is that there's no heating in the bathroom. On a December morning, it was a bit cold for a shower so I waited till I got home.
Those two things aside, I love this place. They really do got out of their way to please you. I had mentioned to the person at the front desk that I was a little disappointed by the appearance of the room, and was offered a bottle of wine of my choice! I also made a few requests with my breakfast (still warm toast, if possible, an extra egg, and different fruit, also if possible, all of which they did!)
Nothing beats waking up and seeing the sunrise over the ocean. Or the moon set on the ocean. I had my breakfast in front of the fireplace. The location is great, the service is fabulous, and the Ocean View King is spectacular. I will be back!!

This was the 1st stop during a 5 day trip down the coast. We checked in with high hopes because of the location but our expectations were not met.
The room decor seemed to be at least 15-20 years old and while neat, would have to be categorized as very tired. Given this world of COVID-19 all the fabric in the tons of upholstered furniture and the valances in the room were a cause for concern and we used our entire can of Lysol spraying everything to be sure it was disinfected. The room was so dark (no ceiling light) that we had to take off the shades on the sconces near the bed just so we could “sort of see” as the sconces were outside the canopy of fabric over the bed!
Nothing in the room was wrapped or banded or individually contained in plastic (not the remote; toilet seat, etc.) so we had no way of knowing if the room had been sanitized. We finally put our own sheets and pillow cases on top of what was provided because we truly didn’t know what they had done.
We checked the CABLE TV listing and found that the numbers they showed for channels didn’t align with what we were getting with the remote. We called down and they sent up the Valet to help us. He wasn’t wearing gloves and didn’t seem to know how to solve the problem so he left. They then sent up another gentleman, also not wearing gloves who also couldn’t solve the problem. Finally a 3rd gentleman also not wearing gloves appeared and fixed the remote. They all left but the TV remote and the printed line up never matched. Needless to say –we were disinfecting the remote and door knobs, etc. 3 separate times and spent a lot of time scrolling through the TV guide for the 2 days we stayed to get channels to watch.
The location was right on Cannery Row but the selection of anything to eat other than tourist type restaurants was non-existent. After a very average but very expensive dinner there the 1st night, we moved down to Carmel to eat the 2nd night and just came back to the hotel to sleep.
Because the room was so unattractive and had a negative energy, along with our concerns about cleanliness, etc. we checked out a day early and moved to Carmel for the next night.
The continental breakfast was fine and the staff did try but they never delivered a message of being concerned about cleanliness. Breakfast came one day with someone wearing gloves and one day with someone not wearing gloves. A request for a 2nd pot of coffee that they promised would be there in 15 minutes never arrived nor did our ask for more Keurig pods so we could make more coffee in our room.
The hotel is right on the beach and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach at night was very soothing but overall this is not a great hotel for anyone unless location is everything.

The hotel is right on Monterey Bay. We booked room 407 - corner oceanfront with views of the entire bay plus a wood burning fireplace to keep you cozy while you sleep with the windows open to enjoy the sounds of the ocean. The hotel is just down the street from Monterey Bay Aquarium, on Cannery Row, right on the beach. The staff was really friendly, helpful and overall contributed to a great experience. They stored our bikes for us in the basement and brought them up to the lobby when we were ready to go for a bike ride. We spent many hours in the window seat next to our fireplace, looking out at the abundant animals in the bay (otters, sea lions, dolphins plus many kinds of birds.) They offer a complimentary continental breakfast every morning - no need to leave the room until the morning fog burns off and you are ready to explore. The Monterey Bay bike trail, shopping, restaurants, and even a grocery store are all within walking distance. We will definitely stay there again - it really felt like we were taken care of and the staff made us feel like they appreciated our business.

I never leave reviews, but this hotel was a true shame. Nice folks at the front desk and good location, but the room was beyond tired and the bathroom disgusting. Not worth the money...truly. When I raised this with the inn upon leaving, they said they were going to be renovating (wish I had known before staying) and offered me $25 credit on a nearly $600 bill....I told them to keep it as they were clearly missing how the room condition and price did not match.

While the room and bathroom is a bit small, it is very nicely decorated in old-fashioned classy victorian style and we really enjoyed the two large window seats, the two large padded chairs, the fireplace, and the big screen TV in the room. The hotel is on Cannery Row so many restaurants within easy walk, but be sure to plan ahead with reservations so you wont have to wait long or eat very late. The valet service was prompt but there doesn't seem to be bell man service so you will have to move your own bags...but at least they have carts you can use. I would stay here again if we go back to Monterey.....

We stayed at the Spindrift Inn to celebrate our anniversary, it was a very memorable weekend!
We have stayed at numerous hotels in Monterey Bay, this was our favorite so far. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, everything was perfect.
We had paid for an ocean view room and upon arrival were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded. A bottle of wine and a small box of chocolates were also sent up to our room. Thank you to Stephanie and Robann for their extreme kindness and generosity!! Customer service at its very best!
The hotel itself is overflowing with charm and charisma, Not to mention right on the beach. We enjoyed having the windows open and listening to the waves crash and watching the seagulls. We really liked how comfortable and inviting the room felt. The decor has a wonderful homey feel with wood floors, the oversized arm chairs in front of the fireplace, padded window seats overlooking Monterey bay. The bathroom was well appointed and came with Aveda toiletries, very nice. An impressive continental breakfast was brought to our room each morning with many selections from fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, milk, juice, coffee, muffins and cereal. It was a great way to start the day. We loved having a fire in the evening with a glass of wine, perfect ambience.
Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay with exceptional staff!! We will be back soon!!

If you love the ocean, real wood fires and reading you’ll love this hotel. We had an ocean front room with King Bed with the most amazing window seat overlooking the bay. I sat in that seat for hours reading and listening to the waves and birds. The Bed in room 203 was super comfortable. The free continental breakfast would be a $50 breakfast in other hotels. RobAnn on the front desk was super friendly, as were the other staff and valets. Perfect location right on Cannery row. We will definitely return.

The room was very quaint with a nice wood fireplace, they provided the wood the entire two days of our stay. Sitting on the window seat with a beautiful view of the ocean and a small beach below listening to the sea gulls and seeing sea otters was so refreshing. A 5:30 in the lobby they had a complimentary wine gathering for guests. Normally it includes cheeses but since we were there during the coronavirus issue they opted not to have it for safety reasons.
