Good spot fir a night or two. Place is a little dated but a large room, particularly the bathroom. Safe had batteries duct taped in and kept failing so we didn’t use it. George at check in was a 5+. Gave great recommendations for nearby restaurants. Parking under the building. 10 minute walk to the main area.
Lovely, small inn on the edge of everything. Within walking distance to restaurants and aquarium. Room right over the water (seaguls are a bit noisy). Room was nice size and well appointed. Great service. 2 hot tubs very small - one with nice view. Cheers to the crew who helped us celebrate a birthday! Thank you.
Excellent place to stay. Very very nice view from the rooms. The rooms are nicely furnished. The staff is nice and professional. Absolutely nothing to complain here. I remcoment reserving rooms 220 or 320 - these rooms have the best views. A little more expensive but worth.
The good: Staff were great. Room service and house keeping people do their best and are very nice. Nice View Convenient parking space under the inn Good breakfast The bad: Not what you expect for the price. Not as clean as you expect from the pictures. Smells like an old inn. Location is not great.
The most fabulous hotel. We had a side Seaview room and the views were incredible. We watched whales, sea otters and sea lions from it. Monterey is fabulous. Watch out for the cloud coming down on a whale watching trip but you will still see loads of humpbacks. Highly recommended.
Stayed en famille in two harbour facing rooms. Location slightly out of the way but suited us as able to walk to dinner nearby ( see separate review) . Staff were friendly enough without being very visible sand everything was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would return ( if only for the whale watching).
First off, the price for staying 2 nights was much more than what was given to us. The decor is a little outdated, side tables were chipped, sofa bed had crumbs that were obvious before even opening up the bed. However, there were 4 of us and beds/pillows were very comfortable, the bathroom spacious and the separate toilet, the flush pressure was powerful!! Believe me, it makes a difference when there are multiple people that have to share one bathroom. The balcony with the full view of the beach and ocean was so great, especially when you can see the wildlife right outside your room. But I cannot give enough praise of the housekeeping staff. They were wonderful; kind, efficient, easy to talk to. More than willing to take care of our requests within reason. One of the best staff that I've had to encounter in a long time. Thanks to the wonderful staff!! If it wasn't for the price, I would have given this hotel 5/5 stars.…
This hotel doesn’t even come close to offering value for money. Luckily our room was large, with 180 degree ocean views and a deck, and the bathroom also was spacious with great views - as we had paid for. But the remainder of the hotel that we saw was scruffy, carpets dirty, very slow elevator. The mini bar was empty. (Even if this is a so-called Covid measure, I can’t really see how it helps, especially as none of the staff wore masks or required guests to mask up in the common areas.) Again, luckily, there are lots of good bars and a wide variety of restaurants in the vicinity. I needed to do some laundry so used the laundry bag in our room but couldn’t find any instructions, prices etc. I texted my queries to the number they had given us for assistance. I didn’t ever get an answer. I asked about it at the front desk. At first they denied that there were laundry bags in the rooms, because the hotel didn’t do guest laundry. Then they googled a nearby ‘laundry service’ that I could use. It turned out to be a house cleaning service. I found my own laundry. On the first morning, the dirty towels were removed from our bathroom but no other services provided - the bed wasn’t made, the bins weren’t emptied, the room wasn’t tidied or the bathroom cleaned. I queried this at the front desk. The woman there, who appeared completely disinterested, told me I mustn’t have requested the room be serviced. I noted that I wasn’t ever asked about it and so requested it at that time. The room was later serviced. On checkout, the woman at reception didn’t even get up from her desk at the back of the office but just spoke very loudly to (at?) us from there. Hardly customer focused. So the view was nice - but there’s not much that this hotel does to enhance that.…
We had a snafu with our travels and at last moment had to find a hotel in Monterey for 2 nights. Due to the price we selected The Cannery Row view room which turned out to be large by hotel standards, had a comfy, king size bed with a large bathroom and a nice size balcony. It was so windy and cold I’m happy we didn’t pay extra for an oceanfront. Did not have a restaurant on-site but did offer continental breakfast brought to your room each morning. The location was convenient, close to all attractions and easy access to Hwy1. I was concerned about the noise level being on Cannery Row but the only noise we heard on occasion was that of the seals which one would hear from anywhere in that location. The only item we didn’t like was they charged you $24/day for on-site parking. We felt that was a lot considering your a customer.…
Stayed here for one night in late December. Great service from front desk, was able to check in an hour early. Amazing oceanfront view and they gave me a high floor overlooking the bay as requested. However, the walls are extremely thin. We can hear full conversations from the room next door and were well aware every time someone coughed or used the toilet. if you are a light sleeper like me, please be aware!
