The Monterey Marriott enjoys acclaim for its prime location near Fisherman's Wharf, with guests frequently praising the hotel's easy access to local dining and attractions. Many find the rooms spacious and clean, although there are occasional concerns about noise and the need for updates. The staff's friendliness is often highlighted, despite some disappointment over loyalty recognition. However, the value proposition is a common gripe; reviewers warn about the steep valet parking and breakfast costs, leading some to seek alternatives.

We stayed here for my birthday celebration since COVID makes it hard for us to fly anywhere. We were so pleased with the accomodations and the level of friendly service that we received from the hotel guests. It is located right in the center of the wharf area with great access to the bike/walking trails and many restaurants. They gave us a wonderful corner room that overlooked Monterey Bay and the shops. The room was recently renovated (as well as the other areas in the hotel lobby) We brought our bicycles and they graciously kept them inside the storage room and took them out whenever we wanted to use them. Parking is valet and costs $23/day. Unfortunately, due to COVID, there is no food service offered at the hotel so you have to walk outside to get any food - plenty of places within a stone's throw of the hotel so that was not a problem for us at all.

The nightly room rate is pricey but the view, service and room were well worth it!

Check-in was a breeze compared to last time and many thanks to Craig for making the experience enjoyable and explaining things which Marriott reservation reps couldn't. A huge shout out to Traves for his friendly disposition, helpful suggestions, and great directions. Like the newly renovated rooms which overall are great, little on the dark side based on the type of lighting used. Managing construction trades saw that the quality control for the finished product really doesn't match the Category 6 rating it has; saw way to many flaws but that's my eagle eye taking over. BUt with that said will definitely stay at the Marriott Monterey in the future and everytime we come to Monterey itself. Housekeeping might want to pay a little more attention to the elevator lobbies on each floor noticed the same dust bunnies in the same locations 3-days in a row.

We hadn't stayed here in several years as we usually opt for a "Carmel Cute" (read: ready for remodeling) hotel. The location is perfect for doing everything in Monterey: the Aquarium, Fisherman's' Wharf, Old Monterey, kayaking, etc.

The hotel has recently been remodeled, and we loved our room. We had requested an ADA room, and the shower/tub combo was perfect with a bench to sit on and both a hand held and conventional shower head.

We had a partial bay view, and we could see almost the entire bay.

Decided to do a short weekend trip to Monterey in my first trip since the pandemic started and was glad to have stayed at the Monterey Marriott. When we first started approaching the hotel, I was starting to regret my decision to stay here because the outside looked completely dated, but once we got to our room I was blown away at how big and beautifully renovated it was. The location was perfect for walking to all the main areas of downtown, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Cannery Row. There was an unexpected blackout in the city on Saturday evening, which isn’t the fault of the hotel, but I wish they could’ve done a bit more to help guests out instead of kind of leaving us to fend for ourselves. I’m not knocking off a star for that, but I do think it’s overpriced to stay here despite how lovely I thought the room was. I booked with a discounted rate that made the overall cost less than half of the published member’s price. I would not recommend staying here if I had to pay $300/nt published rate for this particular weekend, but totally worth it if you could get it cheaper.

This was an interesting stay during the pandemic. The hotel was a little busy with the major golf tournament in San Francisco. The property is properly marked with their Covid-19 procedures upon arrival. Red arrows direct guests the proper way to enter and exit the property, along with multiple signs requiring masks while on the property. The area around the elevators has specially placed areas to properly social distance from other guests. Hand sanitizer stations are also available in the lobby area. The property is located within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf and plenty of restaurants.

The Front Desk staff were friendly. There manager did a wonderful job assisting guests with getting in and out of the elevators and around the property. I did not catch his name but he had brown hair and a beard.

The room appeared in old condition and not that of a Marriott branded property. What really surprised me during my stay were these items. The first, seeing families allowed to have personal bicycle's in the hotel and within the elevators. Secondly, the valet appeared a little under staffed especially during the "moment of truths." I will commend Antonio from valet. He was very welcoming and personable to arriving and returning guests.

A perfect choice when visiting Monterey. The location is terrific being just across the road from the wharf, restaurants, local shops, the convention center and a short drive to the must-visit Monterey Bay Aquarium.
The hotel itself is contemporary, clean and comfortable for singles, couples and families alike.
It’s restaurant, the Fin & Field, is quite exceptional indeed.
The check-in, valet, housekeeping and restaurant staff is exceptional - calm, collected, warm, welcoming and extremely professional leaving guests wanting for nothing.
It’s excruciatingly difficult to find any kind of fault with this hotel at all. It’s a hit!

My wife and I stayed at the hotel on our return trip from the redwoods. This was our first stay at this Marriott, it is big hotel and seemed to be very busy upon our arrival. Check in was okay we got room 426 it was a king room, the room was clean. The biggest issue was the hallways getting to the room, it felt like a maze there. The elevators were slow and busy we tended to use the stairs mainly. Surprised that being a Marriot member we didn't get any free breakfast not even a coffee, as I thought we had got that when booking the room, that was disappointing for $200 plus a night. Valet parking is $27 a day no idea if there is any cheaper parking lots closer. We wouldn't choose the hotel again if we visited Monterey area as we prefer a smaller hotel with better access to the room and car.

Booked a king city view day prior to Veterans’ Day. Upon arrival, complimentary upgrade to partial bay view. Was also offered complimentary water. The FOH was pleasant. Our room had an “elite” sign at the door. I didn’t not know how that might have affected our stay. Upon entering, we heard what sounded like construction above our room though hotel operator denied and did not offer to check it. Luckily, when we returned in the evening, it was gone. The room was facing another building but if you go against the window and look to your left, you see the hotel windows - further down you see a poor distant view of the bay, I guess that’s still a partial bay view. The room was very spacious. It had space to put about 4 rollaway beds. There was a couch. The cabinet against the wall, acted like a wall for the bedroom and the vanity. The bed was cozy. There was a fridge, coffee and tea. The lobby was spacious. There was a $27 valet parking fee which was the only option for on site parking. Otherwise, there are a couple garages 2-3 blocks from the hotel. Wouldn’t have paid for the view (which I didn’t), would come back for the bed and space. The hotel was also within walking and driving distance to many restaurants and was within close driving distance to Cannery Row, 17-mile drive and Fisherman’s Wharf.

Paid 5 star for a 2.5 star hotel. I am disappointed with no pool. Hot tub?? Like a 2 star in Minsk?? No. Location helps to save outdated hotels. Unfortunately PGE shut off electricity for the Saturday stay. Nothing was offered. No communication. Getting dark...phones flashlights running out of power. Calling out for food delivery..NO nearby as they were blacked out too.Got through toWinstopSeaside for wings at 11 pm. we had to call the front desk to get 2 99 cent flashlight to shower , use bathroom and not trip over anything. sssscked. even keyboard pissed. Friday and Saturday at over $4oo a night . Norml services not available.
