This would be the dirtiest motel we have ever stayed. My wife was seriously considering sleeping in the car, but she didn't have enough warm clothes. The floors could not remember their last clean. There were holes in the sheets. You need to be on a serious budget to stay here. Never again for us! Close to dining options which was good.

The owners were rude! The sheets on the bed were stained! Toilet was plugged!! Would suggest going anywhere else!! Wish I wouldn’t have prepaid! It smelled like they were trying to cover up a smell but couldn’t figure it out!!!

The Candle Bay Inn does not advertise it is a luxury hotel. It is basic stuff. However it provides a room with a clean bath at a price that is hard to beat in expensive Monterey. They have wifi, but the bandwith is limited so it is slow. It is convenient to restaurants and the action in Monterey. The staff was good. The motel, like those nearby, get the pleasure of the airport flight path. If you are an early riser as I am, no problem, but if you want to sleep in this might be an issue.

The location and price were exactly what I was looking for. Clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. I will book there again ! Plenty of dining choices nearby plus a CVS Pharmacy close to the hotel.

The room was small with one queen size bed. I hardly could get in the bed at one side because of the AC unit. There was no breakfast included. The room costed $177,17 for one night and in our opinion is that too much for a motel of that poor quality.

All the motels in Monterey are pricey, including this one. But you don't get what you pay for - the towels are cheap, the mattress uncomfortable, the other room was small and entirely filled by the bed and poorly ventilated, the sink was very low, etc. The owners seem to get away with the minimum to maximize profits on their investment - but they cut too many corners. The location is on the edge of town near an airport and next door to an adult bookstore.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights here. The room itself wasn't bad. The bathroom seems like it's been updated, it has nice tile on the floor and also a nice tiled shower. The carpet definitely needs to be replaced in the bedroom area. There are stains all over it. The bed was decently comfy but we were only given two small square pillows so it was a good thing that I brought our own pillows. The only thing I was dissatisfied with is that the rooms do not have a microwave so we had to go to the main office every morning to warm up our breakfast which was a little inconvenient. My husband and I also wanted to go and eat a nice dinner at Fisherman's Wharf but due to the fact that we had no iron or ironing board we were unable to do this because our clothes were wrinkled from being folded in our bags all week.

We stayed here because we booked at the last minute and didn't find anything better without spending a fortune in the area although is not that cheap either. Not much good to say except that is clean but for the rest, room very small, bed not very comfortable, the place is close to the local airport so planes noise, can hear people in next room and outside like if they were inside our room, the volume of the tv can't be raised enough to cover the noise outside, we got a replacement tv remote without battery lid and had to keep the batteries in with our fingers, the door had to be kicked open/close and this is just to mention some. Overall we didn't completely hate the place but with more time to prepare we definitely wouldn't go there

To start off, the price was very cheap for the location being practically beach front. Walking distance to all stores and restaurants. Room was very clean and tidy. Friendly service. Only minor issue was the TV not setup.
