In town for the IndyCar race at Laguna Seca and needed a decent place to stay that wasn't a $350-$500 golf resort or $250+ room in downtown Monterey. This fit the bill nicely. It's a basic motel, but they do a good job with it. Room was clean and tidy. I got an "accessible" room (although I didn't ask for it--probably because I checked in so late the first night) and the bathroom was huge. Actual room is small-ish sized, but enough for 1 or 2 people. Always had parking when I came back. Dennys is across the street, Safeway about a mile a way for basic food. All in all a nice experience and would stay here again.

Thank you to all the staff at El Castell Motel. Check in was easy, fast, very efficient with accuracy. Our room was the best and very very clean,! EVERYTHING was in working order. Cable TV, Free Wi-Fi and real krups coffee maker in the room. This Motel has been remolded on the inside! which is lovely. Great Management and New Owners. Crisp, Clean Linen, made with no wrinkles, our towels were clean no spots, not old and dingy. Actually New.The best is the management and front desk! talk about busy during the 65th Monterey Jazz Festival and continuing to give 100 percent satisfaction and delivering exceptional service. you all delivered. I didn’t expect too much from a motel, but my expectations were exceeded by a ton. Super clean, well equipped, ample parking, friendly service, comfortable enough bed, I also felt safe throughout my stay. All in all really nothing to complain about - great value for money (I stayed Sun-Tue), would totally recommend.

We enjoyed the reliability & courtesy of service, cleanliness, spacious warm shower w/ full bathtub, medium refrigerator, generous quality toiletries, fluffy towels, comfortable beds, and quiet AC. (The bedding was as good as any we've experienced at five star hotels.) We reserved a quiet room with one queen bed and it was rather small so we thought we'd only be in the room for shower and sleep, but it was so comfortable that we didn't leave until check-out time. The owners/management must know what makes their guests happiest!

Very affordable and super clean motel minutes (by car) from everything you'd want to see in the area. Not in the main touristy area but perfect balance between price, cleanliness, and location. Close to a small airport but did not bother us.

The room was clean and spacious and appeared to be updated in the not-so-distant past. The TV service struggled a bit (DISH went out a couple of times). The location is close to the local airport so air traffic could be heard but was not a problem during the night. Location near amenities (restaurants/stores) was good.

We had 3 rooms for 5 of us and all were spotlessly clean. Facilities are limited to tea/coffee in the room and vending and ice machines outside. There is a Denny's 3 minutes walk away if you need it. Pool is small but nice and location of motel is good for a quick drive into Monterey or being near the highway to get anywhere else you need to be.

First, do NOT judge the motel by its outside appearance, but this property is amazing. The moment you walk in the office to check in, you are greeted by a Front Desk Agent that is courteous, friendly & helpful. The moment my wife & I walked into the room it was clean and the furnishings are modernized. The bed is comfortable. We love the amenities inside the room especially the Keurig coffee maker. Awesome. The mini refrigerator is bigger than most mini fridges at most of the Marriott hotels. Furthermore, the microwave oven inside the room is a great addition and it’s great to warm up leftovers. Since it is a motel, one of the perks is the free parking. The property is one block away from the Monterey Fairgrounds & a short drive to Fisherman’s Wharf, downtown Monterey, & Cannery Row. A CVS store is within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again & I highly recommend this place if you’re planning to visit Monterey. You won’t be disappointed.…

Newly renovated and very clean rooms, comfortable beds and separate sink from shower and toilet which we appreciated Pool was heated - wish it was open past nine No breakfast but Keurig machine in the room with coffee and the price was good for the area which was in a safe and great location for touring LA Some mentioned noise - we had no problems and were in room 1 (which was spacious) but we always bring a small white noise making device when we travel - we use Dohm brand - highly recommend!
