Mr. Tony and Mr. Nick were simply wonderful hosts! They really make travelers feel special. And, the food and wine choices are outstanding! Wait till you see the rooms… Very unique and special. EVERYTHING has been thought of and detailed with care. Excellent value for the money! (I typically stay at Marriott properties… But I would rather spend money at this place than stay at a Marriott with my points.)
So... The people running this hotel were open, honest and friendly. Call in and smile. Stayed 2 nights . Well positioned near Pacific Grove and Carmel. A genuine surprise so more than happy to recommend .
This hotel completely misrepresents what it is. If you are looking for a 2.5 star hotel to crash for the night, book it. If you want a nice 4 star hotel for a pleasant stay, look at the hundreds of other options in the area. Here are some facts about our recent stay. Fact - the hotel is on a very busy road. Fact - our second floor room had a view of the electronics repair and auto supply store across the street on one side, and a wall on the other. Fact - Our shower flooded the bathroom every time we used it. We alerted staff, but nothing changed. Fact - there was no fridge, cups, or in-room coffee machine as you typically get in a four star hotel. Fact - there was very little room to put clothes away (no chest of drawers), or sit (one small chair). Opinion - if you are a light sleeper, avoid this place. My spouse had to use ear plugs to sleep due to the noise from the busy road. Opinion - we discovered that the area has many nice places to stay, some actually on the beach, and many with nice properties, large rooms and true amenities. No need to stay at this dive if you can avoid it.…
I have never stayed at a boutique hotel before and very glad this was my first experience. We stayed in the Audrey Hepburn room, and it was very cozy. The rooms are small and cozy, but they have included special touches in the room such as Dyson fans for air and a very modern bathroom. During the night, we left a window open to feel the breeze from the bay, and it was amazing. The bed was so comfortable that we had the best night sleep of our trip. We ate dinner at the rooftop restaurant and it was great. The view and heaters were fantastic and the service was on point. The next morning, we had a scheduled, elegant breakfast. The owner came over and chatted with us and Tony from the restaurant the night before served us. They were both extremely pleasant and made for an enjoyable experience. …
We discovered Hotel 1110 while exploring online. Our previous hotel had raised their prices out of our range and we sought a place with good location and good price. What a delightful find!! We were thrilled with our four nights at Hotel 1110 and plan to return on our next trip to Monterey!
Not an amazing hotel but also not horrible. It was so-so. I personally wouldn't go back myself, but I'm not into boutique stuff. Pros: If you like small cute boutique hotels with a "vibe", then you'll like it for that alone. I'm personally not into that stuff so it means little to me, but my fiance loves that kind of stuff and it was for her 30th birthday. It's very close to a lot of the main attraction areas in Monterey so you don't have to walk or drive very far to get to everything. Staff was very nice and friendly, and one gentleman in particular has a VERY high class style about him that will make you feel like you dont belong there unless you're rich haha. The included breakfast was VERY good. I highly recommend the breakfast tacos. Cons: Issue with the bathroom/shower. I don't know if this is common or happens in other rooms, but the toilet wouldnt flush properly without manually doing it by lifting the lid. We could not change the shower temperature without using pliers because the knob was so stiff it wouldnt move. The rooms are VERY small and have their own myriad of issues. This hotel was likely an old apartment building from the 40's or so, designed for a single person or couple. Because of this, if you get a room with a bigger bed(queen+), you will have very little room to move around or put things. There was no table or desk in the room we had other than small night stands which already have stuff on them. There were 2 cabinets to put things in at the end of the bed, but again, very little room to interact with. There is no mini fridge or microwave in the rooms so be aware of that if you bring leftovers after going out to dinner. Speaking of leftovers, Im pretty confident that they do NOT want food in the rooms at all. This was never brought to my attention until someone asked about bringing their leftover breakfast to their room and they were told no. I believe the reasoning for this is there may be an ant problem at the hotel. We were on the 3rd floor and found less than 24 hours, a small box of donuts we had covered with ants in the small cabinet we had put it in. The last issue I would say is there is a hotel receptionist available from 3PM to 10PM, which is check in time. Basically if you have any issues or questions, youll have to be at the hotel during those times to ask them or have them taken care of(such as my shower/toilet problem). Minor Cons: These things don't bug me at all, though it may bother others. The windows in the rooms can be opened but they had no screens, which means bugs could come into the room as they please. If you hate bugs, that may be an issue as there is no AC in the rooms and the cool outside air is plenty enough to keep the room cool. There is BASICALLY no onsite parking. They have about 5 parking spaces and the rest you have to park on the street in the area. There are a few streets where you can park all day, and other parts where its 2-3 hours. Again, may be an issue for some people who don't want to walk very far from there car or don't like parking on a street. Last but not least, the floor is hardwood and the bed is made of wood, which means if the bed is going to be moving a lot, expect a LOT of squeaking lol.…
My partner Rich and I had a most wonderful stay at this little gem of a hotel. It is situated very well to easily reach Carmel, Pebble Beach, and Pacific Grove as well as Mo terry. The owner, Nick, is on site daily ensuring his high standards of service are implemented in every aspect of the hotel. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, the included breakfast is no buffet, but a complete menu of ala-carte dishes from perfectly cooked eggs and bacon to lemon pancakes and more. The cherry on the cake is the rooftop dining room with lovely views and delicious cocktails, my favorite was the French cocktail. I highly recommend this gem, 5 stars! Thank you Nick and Tony.
First impression was poor, as I had traveled 2K miles from the deep south and walked in to be "greeted" by a young-ish man who was rather snarky and bothered by the fact that I was there. Fast forward to the following morning to a fabulous breakfast served by the owners (father and son). They were delightful and friendly. I would likely stay here again because it is quaint and comfortable. The location is excellent, too. The front desk guy mentioned as above, needs to NOT work in the hospitality industry. It takes zero energy to be nice, and you never know how exhausted someone is from their travels.
Everywhere on the website it says breakfast included, but we were charged $15 each person each day because "Your room is on the first floor and didn't cost as much as the other rooms." So the cost was $60 more than expected. When I said I couldn't find that noted anywhere I was told, "it must be there somewhere."
We were only here one night but it was lovely. We had dinner on the roof top and the lovely gentleman that was our waiter made the experience. He was funny and very accommodating. He was also our waiter for breakfast too and recommended somewhere for us to visit on the next leg of our trip (great recommendation as it turns out). The room was a little bit small for us simply because of the size of our cases and both of us but we still made the most of there being no loud children with it being adults only. It was well positioned on the beach and was right next to a petrol station if you’re driving the coast. Breakfast was complimentary and it was divine. A must have!
