We last stayed here 11 years ago and were hoping standards had been maintained. They have, we needn’t have worried. Still a great hotel, well located, helpful staff, clean, comfortable quiet rooms. Really enjoyed our stay and still love Monterey

I used over 200,000 points for a room the upgraded for a suite when I booked directly with hotel. They said it would only be about $40.00 more for upgrade mind you I have been saving these points forever for that special anniversary so we assumed we would have extra money for our trip. When we got there they said my ambassador membership is expired that can't be true since it was auto renewal and they can't contact ihg because they are down for 3 days now so I said what ever I'll deal with that later. So when we checked out they said my bill was $1600.00 I freaked out since we always paid about $1800.00 with out points they didn't want to here it so beware we will never stay there again its sad it was our favorite place to go and everything has changed from staff not caring to bathroom doors not working my wife got stuck in the restroom then the shower door won't open so if you stay there be careful. There are so many wonderful hotels there than thus place.

I stayed at this hotel to celebrate my birthday from 10/30/22-11/2/22. This was the second time we had stayed here. My husband booked it through Priceline.com and got a good price through "Express Deal" for a 4-5 star hotel with specific amenities before booking. This time we splurged to pay for an "ocean view." We only knew which hotel after he paid. From our experiences, paying a discounted price for a 5-star hotel through Priceline.com frequently got us only second-class treatment. Any hotel that regrets offering a lower price to Priceline.com members should stop offering discounts. Mistreating guests who pay discounted fares defeats the purpose of such a promotion. Upon checking in, I showed the front desk staff, Stephen, my ID to celebrate my birthday at their hotel, and hopefully, we could get a better ocean view. I told him that my friend, an employee at Fairmont, spoke to his manager, Tom, about getting a better room. But Stephen seemed disappointed that we booked it through Priceline. He gave us a "partial ocean view." I am a daily bikini swimmer because of physical rehabilitation after knee surgery. To convince Stephen, I showed him several photos of hotels where we stayed that gave us rooms with fantastic views. A terrific ocean view from his hotel would have been great photos. The following day I told him that our room had only a narrow ocean view. He referred us to speak to Tom, the manager, after 11 a.m. When I talked to Tom, he said he could move us to a better view if we were willing to upgrade for a price. Again, I tried to show him the photos with fantastic views from the other hotels, but he looked like it was unnecessary. I am a serious daily 45-minute swimmer for health. I wouldn't threaten people, but I finally told him that I submit reviews of hotels on TripAdvisor. He could sense my unwillingness to pay more for a natural balcony, even though this was off-season and many rooms were empty. He showed us a room across from the original room with a slightly more comprehensive view of the Bay. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable—many mirrors, including a full-length mirror. The shampoo, conditioners, and body lotion all smelled great. The hotel was conveniently located with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The aquarium was just down the block. The pool could have been more impressive than its photos online. It was too narrow and shallow; too uncomfortable for serious swimming. I only tried it once. Our booking included daily breakfast. Every morning we sat at the large picture window by the water to eat a hearty, delicious breakfast to start our day. The waiter who served us was the only staff member I felt welcome. _

A huge diapointment. Like a lot of Hotels, airlines, restaurants etc it is a race to the bottom in terms of service and facilities.Restaurant and bar closed (except for breakfast) on Monday andTuesdays which was the duration of our stay. No room service / cleaning of rooms unless specifically requested.Parking expensive .Room average at best. All in all a huge disappointment in a Hotel like so many others obsessed with cost savings post COVID .

Stayed here with my family for an anniversary trip and it was hit and miss. I booked thru a third party discount site and snagged a deal. At check in we were assigned an accessible room which came with its quirks like a shower over tub with a fair amount of handle bars (I was expecting a separate shower and tub), a doorbell, and items placed low for my young children to easily get their hands on. Felt like we were getting the leftover room due to the alternate booking. The room itself was exceptionally clean, however, it was showing signs of age. The parking rate was different than what I was told. My confirmation stated $27 and it was actually $35 (plus taxes and fees came to $45/night). The location cannot be beat. We had member passes for the aquarium and just popped in throughout the day since it was so close. Service was professional, but was not warm and inviting. We had a misunderstanding with a drink order that was not met with kindness by the bar staff even tho we were politely trying to get some clarification. We saw other rude guests throw their keys at the valet without saying a word who were treated better… Our server at the C restaurant, Salvador, was the one shining exception to our stay. He was so sweet and accommodating for our anniversary dinner and treated us like family. Nothing else was done by the hotel to acknowledge our anniversary and I feel like it’s a common practice these days to do at least something small. We do have young children and the place did not feel very family friendly. The sound proofing in the rooms was great tho. There were other children nearby our room and we didn’t hear much at all. I am at a place in my life where I can afford nice things, however, I do have young kiddos that have their own needs. Now that we are traveling more I have had difficulties finding the right fit for where to stay. Not sure I would book here again.

Another amazing stay. I have stayed at this hotel many many times over the last 10 years. It is my go to place for relaxation, peace, communing with nature and just escaping life’s routines. My most recent stay was perfect I am so happy to see that the hotel continues to bounce back strong after the pandemic setbacks. The front desk staff were once again knowledgeable and efficient. Daily housekeeping is back and the rooms and hotel were immaculately clean. Breakfast at the restaurant was exceptional. Valet parking staff were attentive, prompt and friendly. Absolutely no complaints. Only my grateful thanks for a much needed emotional get away. Special shout out to Christina R at the front desk. She patiently assisted me with a printing task and was just overall a joy. Also Socrates at the restaurant. Hope to reconnect with him on our next visit for more great conversation. Can’t wait to come back!!!

This Hotel has a superb location right on the sea front. Parking is valet parking at a cost of 45 dollars a day ( a bit steep) but quick getting car when needed and staff very nice. Reception was also very pleasant to deal with. Room was fab and so was bathroom, a fab shower and nice big bath . Shame we didn't have a sea view though. For some strange reason the TV wouldn't work, even though the engineer ( who was very quick coming up) couldn't get it fixed. Reception did give us a discount because of this. Had dinner second night in the restaurant, food and service was good, view amazing but found it cold and a bit sterile so we didn't stay long. Breakfast was amazing however wasnt impressed with the fact we were asked to pay for coffee. We had got juice with our breakfast aswell as coffee and seemingly only one is covered as part of the breakfast package we had as part of our room price. I am sorry for a hotel of this standard to not offer free coffee and Juice at breakfast its a bit mean. This was the third hotel out of 7 hotels we stayed in on this holiday and this was the only hotel who did this.

Nothing really to complain about, we had a fantastic room with balcony overlooking the ocean room spacious, well equipped, binoculars were a great touch. Room service was quick & excellent, you felt you were staying in a class hotel. But... the whole place was big, square, minimalistic & sterile, it lacked character. Other than the fireplace in the lounge, it resembled an airport lounge, very disappointing given what we paid. It's in the middle of a collection of "clutter souvenir" shops & moderate chain restaurants (but expensive), not great at all. We just couldn't understand why you would make such a fantastically located hotel so dull & uninspiring - the restaurant wasn't even open on our 1st night which was a wee bit insulting to paying guests. Shame, had so much potential but didn't quite deliver.

Efficient valet parking and bell staff saw our bags in our room before us. Room 303 was a little small but was spotless with a balcony overlooking the ocean. All staff were well trained and overly helpful in any interaction. Breakfast was high quality. The location, history and facilities make it impossible not to be delighted with a stay here.
