Detailed Reviews
Upon checking in, they told me I would be getting a room facing the freeway. I wasn't too happy about that but okay. Right when we entered, we noticed that room wasn't even prepared! The bedsheets were messy as if someone had just waken up and the room look occupied. We were scared someone might've still been in there so we immediately left and went back to the front desk. The attendant apologized and then reassigned us to a much better, bigger room that was not facing the freeway. We wanted to take a dip in the pool but it was always occupied by a lot of people and there were these people that stayed in the rooms facing the pool that would always be hanging out in front their room doors looking at the people swim which was very scary and creepy. They looked as if they were permanent tenants of the hotel. So you'd think that this was the last of our problems right? No! Later that night, someone came a knockin on the door and would not go away after I ignored it for a good minute hoping they would go away because I did not know this guy and it was obviously not a Motel 6 worker. So I hooked up the door lock chain and opened the door to see what this dude wanted. He asked if "blah blah blah" was there in the room and I told him no, he must have the wrong room. Overall, a bad experience.

I was a bit concerned as reviews were bad then all off a sudden tons is good ones even mentioning staff names. Seemed fake. $54 with no charge upgrade to lower king room w/ fridge microwave. Shower needs a good cleaning drapery rod broken in middle so curtains sagged. No extra charge for dog which was nice. Other hotel wanted $100 deposit. Duct tape on floor between carpet and bathroom floor tile was really ghetto. Quiet location easy to get too great location food and gas nearby. All in all I'd stay again as all I need was a bed for the night while driving to socal.

We stayed here in May 2013 because we couldn't get a room on Priceline. I think we might have gotten the last room, so maybe there was something going on in Fresno that we didn't know about.
There were a few negatives:
- Not enough towels. This room had two beds and could sleep four people, but there were only two bath towels, one hand towel, and although there were two washcloths, one of them was on the counter and looked like it may have been previously used.
- The shower temperature was inconsistent, and had an odd water spray pattern (sorry, I don't remember why it seemed odd, but it was noticeable enough to include in my notes).
- The toilet tank had a slow leak and thus would periodically refill even though it hadn't been flushed.
- There was a stain on the sink wall that looked like someone had wiped their nose on it.
- The floor was not vacuumed well; there were obvious threads and lint.
Like all Motel 6s:
- The bath towels were small and thin.
- No shampoo was provided.
- No notepad was provided.
On the plus side:
- A king bed or two queen beds was better than most Motel 6s that I've stayed in.
- Having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was a nice surprise.
- There was a nice small desk space and chair.
Overall, it was clean enough and OK for what we needed. We would stay there again under the same circumstances.

The staff will rent to anybody so there is no feeling of safety. There were guests being partying in the stairway late into the night, people playing loud music in the parking lot. The dirty room had a bed, TV, a couple nightstands - no desk, no mini-fridge, no microwave, no place to hang clothes - nothing. The HVAC made a rattling noise when it was on. The ice machine is far too small and rarely had ice. The property smells of marijuana most of the time.
It is disturbing that this property retains its franchise, it is really bad.

Got there, checked in and check out an hour later. Really strong smell of weed (drugs). The Room was disgusting ! The staff did try there best to help. Also a lot of unsavoury looking characters around the hotel. Did not feel safe in the hotel or the surrounding area. Cars broken into in the so called safe parking area at the hotel. Drove a few miles up the road and stayed in another hotel. DO NOT STAY THERE !

As far as I am concerned the good thing about Motel 6 is you typically know what you're in for - a room that is relatively pleasant, clean, and fairly well maintained - with the added bonus of being incredibly pet friendly. I stayed at this particular Fresno area Motel 6 a couple years ago and found it to be just that - I slept well and was pleased with the quality in relation to what I payed. Things seemed to have changed since that time though...
We were traveling with our pug so we chose Motel 6 for their pets welcome policy. We were given a first floor room which greeted us with a musty-moldy smell upon opening the door. The floor had random bumps in it - not a random gradual unevenness, but rather little mounds of upliftings of an inch or more - almost like concrete gopher mounds throughout the room. One of the walls had an area of perhaps one foot by two feet where something was once attached - perhaps a safe or the like - which has since been torn off leaving the drywall partially pulled off, but still hanging on the wall. The screw holes that attached whatever was once attached to this location were still present and rather than being patched with plaster or something - they were filled with tissues that were stuffed into the holes. The carpet which was stained and not clean looking at all was actually damp in places, the tub and sink had black stains imbedded in them, and the mattress had reddish brown stains which were visible through the sheets.
So I returned to the front desk to request a different room and was told that all they had were more costly rooms available (which only was about a $6 price increase - so not a big deal at all). Before committing though to a new room we wanted to see it. This room, on the second floor was better smelling, but its state of repair was not reassuring. The main light switch near the front door was not functional so we had to walk through the room in the dark to find a light switch and the smoke detector, while still wired and connected, was hanging off the wall. And again the carpet was fairly dirty and in need of a good cleaning.
We elected to abandon this Motel and stay at the pet friendly La Quinta around the corner for $30 more.
One positive about this hotel was the cooperation of the gentleman at the front desk - he allowed us to check out the second room before paying for it and was pleasant about cancelling our reservation and issuing a refund. However I will be avoiding this Motel 6 for quite sometime, and to be quite honest, my whole perception of the Motel 6 brand is a bit tarnished now...

Stayed for a trip to Yosemite and Kings Canyon.
-ve
Our room needed serious maintenance - AC temp knob was missing, door hinge was loose making it difficult to open/close the door, shower head pores were clogged leading to a very poor shower experience, the bedsheet had many stains and both bedside lamps were unplugged. Worse of all the CO alarm battery went bad at around 2AM and the alarm started squeaking erratically, we had to get a replacement battery to quieten it.
Room condition was below avg - stained carpets, stained sink, a tiny bathroom, curved screen TV and a bed where one person turning slightly would cause the entire bed to shake.
The motel has a pool but its small, just for kids to play, not for swimming.
+ve
Front desk folks were prompt and courteous. Our request for a quiet room was honored. Front desk person was promptly able to get a 9V battery to quiet the CO alarm at 3AM.
Wifi was secure and worked ok.
McDonald, Subway and a few other eating places are very close by.
Overall it beats me how this place gets 4stars on TripAdvisor. If you have to stay in the area try the next door Ramada. For ~$20 more you get a better room with a decent bed, a bigger bath, larger flat screen TV, included breakfast and free popcorn all day.

We choose to stay here as a midpoint from Yosemite to San Francisco, and because it was near an underground garden in Fresno that we planned to visit. Note how most recent reviews for this hotel are the only reviews for those users. Any guesses as to why that is? My guess is because the hotel staff is writing them using fake accounts. Digging a little deeper, users with multiple reviews tend to rate this place poorly. I wish I would have caught that before staying here, but it was cheap and that is the only positive I can point out in this review. A couple of things of note.
- We booked a non smoking room, and it had an ash tray. Hmmmm? Since the room smelled like a chemical factory, I concluded that it was probably sprayed down and made a non smoking room for our stay.
- Sheets had a stain on them. It was easy to spot too and should have been easily caught.
- Discovered that there were no towels in the morning. Called and asked for some towels and told we had to walk to the office to get them. Considering where our room was located, this was a haul around the detached hotel, down some stairs and across the parking lot. I don't mind walking, but I expect clean towels to be in the hotel room I paid for, especially when only staying for one night.
- Many folks staying at this hotel seemed down on their luck. Hung around at night with the doors open. Make of that what you will.
