Walking into the Marriott after 2.5 years away very much felt like a return home. Yes, there is some maintenance that is required on the buildings and parts of the room but who or what doesn’t need a bit of a glow-up post-pandemic. Any eye-sores will swiftly be forgotten as service is back better than ever before. Expect exceptional hospitality from all hotel staff (porters, front desk, spa, housekeeping, room service, grounds keepers etc.) and well maintained pools, gym and garden. The breakfast buffet (included in the room rate) is better than I ever remembered it to be. Despite reduced occupancy there is always one restaurant open to satisfy cravings as well as room service. No alcohol is currently being served however, there is a selection of beers (Singha or Heineken) that can be purchased in a 5-pack so make sure to bring what you want although I’m sure local laws will soon change. I stayed in a corner suite and the bed was very comfortable and views were mesmerising. The highlight of the room was the bathtub. Also spent 1.5 hours at the spa taking advantage of the massages on offer. Added bonus of the stay is having times of the day were you have the pool entirely to yourself. Treat yourself!…
Mine is a bit of a different review Coming out of Covid hotels are starting up again and occupancy is increasing in Thailand We have been here for the last 11 weeks and for the last few days before we returned home we decided to stay here The location of the resort is very good in terms of being right on the beach and the views are beautiful however it is very isolated and if you don’t have a car you will find yourself largely confined to the hotel The hotel has no shortage of staff which is admirable that they have continued to employ them throughout Covid however the big corporate machine called Marriott has missed a significant trick namely that has most of the staff stand around for a significant chunk of the day doing nothing when they could be retraining them to deliver exceptional service instead of letting them look at their phones and chat to each other For example we ate at the restaurant last night and ordered a drink we were never asked if we would like another drink despite the waiter standing looking at us for nearly 1 hour as we were the only people eating in the restaurant We ordered starters and then a main course – we received the main course first followed by lukewarm starters Sitting beside us in the restaurant maybe 6 feet away was an Italian man doing a Skype call very very loudly for 45 minutes and other people who looked at entering the restaurant left when they saw the chap in his beach attire shouting at a screen Additionally for me they overstep the moral line – everything you order is subject to a 10% service charge which is fine if that’s how they want to do it however you are then given the opportunity to add a tip which I have always felt is offside Additionally this restaurant there’s some thing that almost no other restaurant in Thailand as witches then add a local taxes of 7% on top of the bill as well The net result is you end up paying 17% more than the published prices which are very high to start with for what can best be described as mediocre service Around the pool there is one side which has sand that would not take much for one of the many members of staff standing around to rake up the leaves and debris that sit in it and make it look nice for the customers I could go on but I won’t as it clearly is a management issue regarding training and organization - and as for those managers they are very very rare indeed in fact so rare but you never see one and I have no idea what’s going on in their resort All in all this could be a fantastic resort but at the moment the only time it gets busy is for the breakfast buffet…
2018 our company did a seminar in Marriott Rayong, at that time it was a very nice 5 star hotel. I returned last week and it was a mixed feeling. You can clearly see that the pandemic caused serious problems to this hotel, it seems they don;t have the manpower to maintain everything. Here and there are some damages to the pool, the pool wasn’t really clean. The main restaurant was closed for dinner, this I can somehow understand because of the low occupancy during our stay. But what is very good in this hotel is the staff, especially Jeab at breakfast. She was always the sunshine at breakfast. I would certainly return to the Marriott, and I hope in a few months thye get everything cleaned and repaired.
Light occupancy due to Thai tourist ban, but very nicely kept. Open design for airflow. Room views of both sun rise and sets - amazing pool feels like you are on the beach with sand under you feet, infinity pool towards the ocean - and you gotta try swimming aside the aquarium- fun for the kids in you. Nice wide sand beach - walk down to nearby restaurants like Lim’s and One Beach and their massage spots - all with seafood, Thai food selection and views of the beach
