It was okay, but: 1. It's along the highway, lots of noise! The air con is noisy too. 2. Staff ( exept for the receptionist) is unfriendly. Bar closes at 8pm. They try to sell daytrips for far too expensive. Rooms are very basic. We didn't even get upper bedsheets, so we had to sleep under a blanket without sheet. I wonder if they wash the blanket at all 3. Rooms on groundfloor have zero privacy. People from the street look right into the bathroom. The front door and the window is right by the common space which is crowdy. Images from the location were pretty and nice, but the experience leaves much to be desired. More importantly, the Filipino hospitality that we always experience from different places is barely felt here.
We stayed for 2 nights and we check-in so late. The staff are very accommodating and ensure that we dont loose our way. The staff arrange for us to see the whaleshark and Sumilon Island. The tour was hassle free. it was fun. In the afternoon, we manage to go to the seashore with the assistant of the staff looking sea orchins, clams and shells to try the fresh seafood. It was a very unique experience for us.
Fantastic hotel - definitely the best one in Oslob with great view (strongly recommend to wake up at 5am to watch sun rise) and awesome quality food (full variety incl. Philippino and western dishes). Very helpful, accommodating and friendly stuff, very clean and spacious rooms with nice nautical design. Hotel helps to arrange attractions in the proximity, such as trip to Sumilon or swimming with whale sharks. Definitely will get back here, if traveling to South of Cebu next time! Val
This place is a super quaint boutique hotel. The staff is amazing. Best hospitality I’ve ever had in a hotel. The location is great to swim with whale sharks, hike the waterfalls, go for a stroll around the mall and if you want some real Filipino food AC Palayok is a must The food at this hotel is also good and a nice variety.
From a very late check in to our departure the friendly staff made us feel very welcome. The rooms are clean with a beach feel. The bathrooms are updated with a spacious shower. The air-conditioning was quiet and our beds were comfortable, taking advantage of a 50mm mattress topper :-) My luggage was lost in Manilla and the manager helped me track it down. Our flights were changed by the airline to a very early flight from Cebu. The manager again helped me to change the flights to a later time, allowing us to see the whalesharks one more time. The staff helped us organise trips to the waterfalls, monkeys, whalesharks, mall and snorkelling on Sumilon Island. The staff were all very friendly and made us great meals. If you are visiting Oslob, i highly recommend staying at Down South 118. Thank you.…
Good hotel very good staff, near the sea, big bedroom air con, good restaurant, I will come back, snorkeling, fishing, falls, near the town, big mall 1 km, dive, whales shark, Sumilon Island, happy vacation, meet new people and new cultures
We stayed 5 nights at Down South 118 and loved the place. Room was clean and cozy, comfortable beds, stunning ocean view. Tasty food, friendly and helpful staff. Marie, the Manager, organized everything for us: airport transfers, trips to waterfalls, Pescador Island, Sumilon, Paragliding, Whale shark viewing. Highly efficient and professional. Thank you Down South Team, we will certainly return!
We arrived around lunch here and had a lunch. The lunch was good(ordered additional order of the lobster balls and spicy chicken). After we rested for a while and had q quick tour qround town The rooms was excellent as well as the ambiance of the resort(very relaxing and great view). It has everything one need(although wifi could improve a little sometimes there is no connection)I'll definitely come back qnd stay!
Booked a one night stay to be local for whale shark trip. Very chill place, right on the water. Enjoyed a tasty pasta supper with cold beers, dining on their little pier over the ocean. Knocked door at 4.30am,out at 4.45, driver took us 15 mins drive to whale sharks. . Watched the sunrise and set out in the third boat of the morning (“first batch”). Amazing and full 30mins snorkel experience. Back at the hotel by 7am tucking into a breakfast of fluffy pancakes & mango. Their driver then took us to Sumilon Island boat jetty at 9am. Thank you 118 for the perfect arrangements. I would recommend a short stay here ... just note that the bathrooms need updating (very old, and cold shower with low pressure) and road & aircon a little noisy. The rooms are simple, clean and equipped. The best thing is its lovely setting, pretty decor , chill vibe, super friendly staff, fantastic trip arrangements and a great price.…
Stayed one night. The dining area looks cute and arrangement for whale shark watching is excellent. The hotel is far from town so no restaurants nearby. The dinner food is not ok. Breakfast is ok. Bed is hard.
