We only stayed here one night but we really liked the room. It was big, cute and with a fireplace. The staff was also very friendly! In the morning they made breakfast that we had in the room which was cozy. Would recommend for a stay in Cayucos.

I have stayed at this hotel 5 times within the past 3 years. It's worth every penny. It's the closest to the beach, very spacious rooms, jacuzzi tub in your room and a hot tub on the second level looking out to the Pacific Ocean. There's a lovey hot breakfast served fresh every morning with a continental one thats is set out prior. Toast, bagels, pastries, fruit, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt. Then the hot breakfast usually includes an egg bake/casserole, pancakes, etc. All cooked fresh. Plus fresh fruit. They have a lovely tea assortment. Ask to purchase a copy of their cookbook - lots of yummy recipes.

If you have children, there's a treasure chest with some cute little toys you can pick from complimentary. There's books you can borrow. For anyone who needs it, there is an elevator.

You can park on the Main Street or preferably under the hotel. Then you can take the elevator upstairs to check in or walk up the ramp as there's a code to get into the elevator from that ground level. If you have an ocean front room, there's parking feet away from the beach just for you.

There are towels you can use when going to the hot tub or sun bathing upstairs.

Feet away from the hotel are restaurants and shopping.

There is a wine hour at night and they serve dessert every evening. Usually cookies or cupcakes.

While this is a beautiful place for a romantic weekend or a girls trip like I took most recently, I've taken my two children here several times and they love it. They feel very safe (throughout the town as well) and love how they seem to always have a little snack set out, whether fruit, water, or a treat. I like to stay here as it's my favorite hotel on the beach in Cayucos. When I cannot afford to stay here or when traveling with friends, I stay 2 other places and will review them as well.

We were so fortunate to have book at this cute B&B! The town was absolutely lovely, walkable and with so many great restaurants and shops! You simply must go across the street to the gas station for the best homemade burritos in the little restaurant inside! Unbelievable and so affordable for California! The bed and breakfast was well managed and we especially loved the nightly appetizers and local wine tastings! Parking was a breeze on the street or in the garage underneath. The view was amazing and every night we fell asleep to the waves. It was a really central location with wineries close by and Hearst Castle within driving distance as well! A wonderful stay that hopefully we can repeat again soon!

We just came back from a mid week stay. The hotel was located conveniently and had very nice rooms,
When I made the reservation the person helping me and the person checking us and was very kind and helpful. Unfortunately that was her last day to work the next two days another person attended the front desk and was the cook as well.

She made our stay very unpleasant due to her curtness, rudeness and condescending manner. My husband and I just wanted a couple of days of non stressful time though this woman went out of her way to be rude. When asked about the menu for the continental breakfast could not be more condescending. My husband inquired about toast and she snapped at him that "its too much, I'm serving thirteen rooms". My husband said ok and then we did not even receive the hard boiled eggs offered. With the price of over $300 a night, we expect someone at least to be polite. Also there was also a trash can left in the closet from a previous patron. Otherwise the nice white fluffy towels, robes and rooms were very nice and clean.

I am so sorry your stay was not better. It is no excuse but we were really short handed with staff in June as 1/3 of our staff did not want to come back to work and another member fell and broke her hand. Please except my sincere apology for the sharp comments and I will have a chat with the staff to make sure this does not happen again.

We booked last minute trip to Central Coast so the only room open was a 2nd floor town view room so we grabbed it and are oh so happy we did! We've walked by the Inn on many occasions when In Cayucos and our stay was better than we could have hoped for! The weather was amazing over Halloween weekend. Some highlights ... king bed a dream, fireplace was cozy, jacuzzi bath awesome and how thoughtful they even provided bath salts (and other nice bath products).

Having the mini fridge and coffee maker were also a bonus for us as was the really sweet balcony. It was almost to hot in the sun (mid-80s) we our shaded side balcony was perfect. There is a fabulous sun deck looking over the sea/beach so if you do not have a sea view - this is nearly as ideal. Our first evening we were relaxing on the deck and the very thoughtful owners brought out a bottle of wine and had a great chat with us. (Thank you!)

The fresh baked cookies were delish! We did not partake in breakfast as we're not really breakfast eaters ... but we did appreciate the happy hour.

We loved our stay so much we're already booked a return visit for a holiday weekend in February. In the past, we've stayed mostly in Cambria/Moonstone area but I really loved being in Cayucos with the small town feel and lots of restaurants to walk to.

Schooners is a long time favorites of ours and this visit during Covid still felt safe and fabulous food. We also found Duckies to have great chowder and Shrimp Louis salads. Brown Butter cookies a block away had the best cookies we've ever had!

Don't hesitate to give "On the Beach" a try. So many little extras make this Inn the best option in the entire area between Paso, Hearst, Morro Bay.

We stayed 4 nights on a weeknight 25% off call-in special. Fresh hot daily breakfast from a set menu with fresh coffee, my or water. 2 cookies for us each evening, a glass of red or white wine each evening,, to go (to our rooms) in lieu of their previous hsppy hour, pre-covixd. LArge jacuzzi tub in our room, plus a gas fireplace we used every day. Good sized balcony in our room 203 with 3 chairs and a sm table, full windows we could see the ocean and pier at all times. Inside rooms locked to the outside. A garage to park in and an elevator. Wonderful service end to end, which has been unusual this past 10 mo w Covid restrictions. There is also service to the rooms which is 1st I've encountered at any hotels these past 10 mo,...though we didn't use or require it. I would stay here every visit except pricing makes it often cost restrictive. I have only stayed when specials were offered. Offseason, etc, this my 2nd visit. My favorite place on the Central coast: Ocean front. Pier front. Close to everything you need, walking distance.

I don’t generally write reviews but I wanted to give my thoughts on our stay at On the Beach B&B. Overall, the room was spacious and appeared clean, however, there were several issues that cropped up during our 4-day family reunion I want to address. First and foremost were the pigeons that seemed to have taken up residence in the wall or ventilation system adjoining 201, and more importantly near my headboard. I don’t mind getting up early, but at 5:00A every morning I was awakened by pigeons (and little pigeons) rustling around or cooing so loudly that I recorded the sounds on audio. I brought this to the attention of staff but nothing had been done (by the time we departed) to mitigate this problem and potential health concerns if the birds were nesting in the ventilation system.
Furthermore, there was a significant amount of pigeon and gull guano not only on my deck railing, but also on the 2nd floor community deck flooring where the outdoor fireplace is located. I was told that birds are a continuing issue for the B&B, but this does not negate the responsibility to keep these areas as clean as possible, even if the area needs to be mopped and disinfected every day.

Next I would like to address the “breakfast”. Now I’m from out of state and I’m not sure if this is the norm for bed and breakfasts’ in California, but after eating quiche (different flavor) and a yogurt parfait everyday for 4 straight days, the meal was no better than a “Holiday Inn” breakfast buffet. If I had to guess, the quiche came from Costco. Nothing tasted like anything was freshly prepared except for the fruit in the yogurt and the bananas, and it was packaged in cardboard containers and plastic cups for service. I was glad I brought some “bathroom helper”.

Our sinks and shower were slow to drain and the room was fairly hot and stuffy, even with the balcony door open.

Given the issues, appearance, and the quality of the breakfast, I would rate our stay as below average and definitely not worth the money spent on our room. Certainly NOT over $1000 for the room over 4 days.

I will commend the staff for addressing my noise complaint regarding the occupants of a lower floor room. They were obviously intoxicated, obnoxious, yelling, cursing, jumping over the balcony railing and last but not least, smoking a joint which was blowing up into my room….and that meant I had to close the door in an already hot room. I called the office emergency contact at around 10:15-1030P and the woman responded to my complaint very quickly. Thank you.

I aove your m so sorry your stay was not a great experiance. I checked all over the roof, attic and eves above your room, the pidgeons have been bombarding our hotel since they started the vets hall remodel accross the street. We are doing all we can leagally do to keep them off the roof but they keep coming back. I will continue to try solutions to rid our roof of them. I also checked the area between or building and the building next door but could fine no roof penetrations near that area. If we have any more complaints I will call in a Structural Pest Control company to see if they can find anything. I was not aware of the slow drain on the tub so we will call a plumber in to clean that out. I am sorry the breakfast was not up to your standard, before Covid we use to do a different full breakfast every morning in the lobby. During Covid we had to stop that. Many of our regular guests commented that they like the new system with us delivering the breakfast to their room, even with the limted menu. I can assure you all the breakfasts are made in house and we try to switch up the quiches and pastries so the 3 to 5 night stays have a diffferent choice each day. I will review this with our on site manager and see if we can expand the menu for extended stays. Again I am sincerley sorry we did not meet your expectations, I know that a vacation is supposed to be a special time for you and your traveling parnter and I need to look at how we can improve that experiance.

Confession: my wife and I live 20 minutes from On The Beach B&B in Cayucos. We think Cayucos is charming, quaint and the last unspoiled beach town on the California Coast. If we can’t afford to live there, why not do a “staycation” and spend a night or two? We chose On the Beach B&B and what a great choice it proved to be.

We travel extensively and our upstairs room, overlooking the beach was one of the nicest rooms we have EVER stayed in. At about 500 square feet it’s just under half the size of our cozy, historic cottage in a nearby town. Our room was so close to the beach we actually had to close the door at night to drown out the loudness of the waves across the street. Our room had a luxurious king bed with ample seating areas, a balcony overlooking the beach, microwave, refrigerator. I’ve stayed in 5-star rooms before and this one was a 4.5, 4 at a minimum. Nothing is scrimped on from the bathrobes hanging in the closet to the high quality bath products.

There is a happy hour featuring local wine and beer and breakfast was delivered to our door. Cayucos itself is only about 5 blocks long and the hotel is situated at the foot of the Cayucos Pier and walking distance to beach walks, restaurants and a close drive to Morro Bay and Cambria as well as San Luis Obispo.

Who knew we would find 5-star luxury and service so close to home. We’ll stay again and recommend you do to.

We stayed 2 nights in room 202 and had such a delightful experience. We took bubble baths together in the double jacuzzi tub, kept the balcony door open to hear the waves crashing just outside the room all night and slept very well in the firm but contouring bed. Barb's breakfast was hot and delicious (both quiche Lorraine and sausage breakfast burrito) and served with fresh fruit and pastry - arguably the best breakfast in town! Marci and Pilar were very friendly and down to earth hosts with great attention to detail. I spoke with Marci by phone a few times and she made our stay extra special with wine for my birthday. Cookies hung on the door handle each day were a nice treat as well.

We've stayed at "On the Beach" at least a few times prior and why do we keep coming back? Consistency of great location, amenities and service. After traffic from Bay Area it's a treat to pull into secure underground, safe parking garage and leave the car! The Inn is virtually on the beach and there are several decent cafes you can walk to. Rooms are large, clean and what a pleasure to enjoy the fireplace, jacuzzi bath and comfy king bed. Sundeck has awesome views of the waves and we spent a couple hours each afternoon just relaxing in the sun. Sweet (!) the Inn offers a comp beverage during happy hour. Let's not forget, the homemade cookies and savory breakfast that is delivered to your room! The staff at the Inn are fabulous! Friendly, helpful and accommodating. What I really love about our stays, our favorite room just feels like "home" not like a cookie cutter hotel room. We do travel down to this area fairly often so Cayucos, Cambria, San Simeon all feel so familiar and hospitable. Schooners and Duckies on each side offer some typical meals you will love! We couldn't get Netflix to work this time but cable had enough things to watch after busy days out and about. How soon can we come back?!!
