Cute place. Our room was cute and clean with ample space. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, but get your shower in early or late if you want more than luke warm water. Even though rooms are right on the parking lot, we were never disturbed with sounds of traffic. There is an ice machine but no ice buckets in room

2 major drawbacks that would stop me from returning:
sink water stunk to high heaven of sulpher (rotten
eggs, sewer). I brushed my teeth in the shower
(surprisingly didnt stink) to avoid turning on the
tap. it got worse the longer we were there

no air circulation. at night with drapes drawn (because you're right on the parking lot) the air got stagnant, stuffy, and hot - even with the air on

Don't bother making a reservation at this hotel! Oh, they'll make it - but they won't KEEP it! If someone comes along before you do, they give your room away! Read on - there's plenty of reviews here that say the same thing. We pulled in 5 pm on a Saturday evening and they pretended they didn't know anything about our reservation tho we had a confirmation number and had called the hotel directly. Do you know how hard it is to find another hotel on Saturday night when the weather is perfect and there's a big festival in Morro Bay? It's IMPOSSIBLE! The people running this hotel don't have any integrity or ethics or even any common business sense. My hope is that everyone will just stop staying there even though hotels are few and far-between in Cayucos.

Do not book a room here. Three weeks ago, my husband and I booked a room at the Estero Bay Motel. The location was optimal, it looked cute from the pictures, and the website promised some great accommodations. When we got there, it was a huge disappointment to say the least. "Pure horror" may be a more appropriate way of putting it. The..."lobby"...was reminiscent of a sleazy motel in a made-for-TV movie, and the room...yikes. The tacky color scheme and globs of dried paint on the walls were the least of my worries. I sat down on the highly uncomfortable bed, only to have the broken headboard fall on my lap, fully equipped with jagged staples, splintery wood chips, and a cheap glue job. That's when I noticed the pillows. As we peeled back the comforter to make sure no splinters had fallen on the bedding, I noticed enough course black hair to make a small toupee. Without going into too much more detail, the rest of the room was just as dirty. We immediately decided that we wouldn't stay there, and asked for a refund. Long story short? Sure. We still haven't been refunded. The day after we left, we called to confirm the refund, and the employee assured us that it had already been issued. It is now three weeks later, and the manager is accusing us of having stayed there, and is refusing to refund us. According to him, he has video surveillance from the room to prove his case. Don't get near the place.

It was a nice surprise and I wouldn't have minded staying longer.

Liked · We had room #11 which had a King bed and was right at the entrance to the establishment (didn't hear any road noise). Now I don't know if all the rooms are the same size or maybe just the two rooms on either side of the entrance (shape of building made those two rooms look like they might have been bigger), but it was very roomy. It had a small couch as well as a small round dining room table with two chairs. It had the usual fridge, microwave, coffee maker (liked that it was a small 4 cup pot instead of making one cup at a time), and tv. Loved that it was a large walk in shower (now as I'm getting older that makes it so much easier for me to get in and out of). Water pressure was good though I noticed it started to run out of Hot water, I never actually ran out but it was turning into warm not Hot, so you might want to take a shower at a time not everyone else in the motel is or take a fast one just incase. Though to be honest I wasn't paying attention to how long I was in the shower (I had taken a walk around town and trip and fell and banged myself up pretty good so I was taking a long shower to help with the aches before going to bed). Oh, they also had a couple of toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower cap, and lotion. Bed and pillows where comfortable.

The lady at the front desk was very nice (I had gone to ask for couple of pkgs. of decaf. coffee and her husband had to find where he had stored the box so she asked if I could give them 30 minutes). I told her no rush I would come back later since we where going to go and get something to eat (at Martin's... great food Mexican, American, and in the evening they also make Italian and they do all of it well... we have eaten there every time we are in town... 2 buildings up from the motel). When we got back I decided to go and see about the coffee but the lady had kept an eye out for me and brought it to our room just as I opened the door to go to see her ^_^.

Should probably mention for anyone who is staying longer (ours stay was just one day) and brings a lot of clothes with them there isn't a closet, just a small area that has a wooden rack on the wall for you to hang clothes on.

Disliked · Only thing that bothered me was I had the heater/air conditioner fan set on low but even then it was very loud every time it kicked on, but it worked so it wasn't a deal breaker. No carpeting in the room which I can understand (makes it easier to clean what with people possible tracking in sand from the beach), but it did make me aware how cold a floor can get in the morning if you decided to go barefoot in the room, lol.

Oh, we did ended up having to park in the street because the parking spots where narrow and short (we have a 4 door Toyota Tacoma) and we didn't want to block anyone. We could see the truck from our room and there is no restriction on length of time it can be parked on the street (they really don't have heavy traffic going through town except maybe during certain holidays).

I came for a small solo birthday getaway. I really needed to get some beach time in and as much as I love my family, I needed some personal time. I felt bad for not including my family, so I stuck to a small budget and decided to give this place a try. Upon checking the lady was super nice. They are pet friendly, so I brought my little fur ball with me to motivate me to walk and not just sit. The pet fee was minimal. I was pleasantly impressed when I entered my room. Everything was redone and completely clean. I was nosey from the prior photos and everything, I mean EVERYTHING was new and remodeled. They even thought enough to purchase side tables that provided ample charging capacity for anything you may want or need to charge. My room had a small bistro table and mini fridge, with a microwave and coffee maker as well. I didn’t snap a photo of it before all my stuff landed on that. While they don’t have a ice machine, and seating is limited outside due to Covid I know that they do plan on making more changes. There were additional garbages on the property, which is good because I could have used one more garbage can in the room. Even the landscaping was new and colorful. I will be sure to come back here since the owner are nice and care.

This is the best place to stay if you are on a budget. You are directly across the street from the beach. Justin the manager is the most caring and helpful person. The rooms are cleaned and lovingly tended to. If you need anything all you gotta do is kindly ask and kindness will be returned. I💚💜❤this place!

I reserved this motel for a wedding in town because it didn't cost an arm and a leg and it allowed dogs. By the time I read the reviews, I had already booked and every other place that allowed dogs was full and I was stuck with it.

Do not go into it thinking it will be better than expected. It won't be. The place was old, dingy, and I heard our neighbor yawn several times before finally waking up and stomping around in the mornings. The walls were thin and one of the towels hanging so nicely for us had what looked like urine stains. The maids had to ask us to leave the door wide open as we left so that they could clean since they did not have a key. In fact, when we temporarily misplaced the key and asked for a spare, they notified us that that was the one and only key to the room. How this place survives is beyond me. I must say though that the guy at the front desk was very helpful and friendly contrary to others' experiences. It was also in a really great location a couple of short blocks from the beach access and downtown.

All in all, it was pretty terrible. If I needed a hotel in Cayucos again, this certainly would not be my first, secord, or third choice. However, it did the trick and I survived. Just go into it with low expectations and at least you won't be disappointed.

We arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday night and were told that they did not honor Orbitz reservations despite the fact that I was holding it, complete with confirmation number, in my hand. They said they didn't have any rooms but we found a listing for it on Expedia for four times the price we had reserved for.

Orbitz was no help. An hour and a half later, we found a room in a neighboring town.

The furnishings and bathroom fixtures are older (like the 1960's), the bathtub/shower was surrounded by dark mildew stains (so bad I couldn't bring myself to take a shower), and the walls were extremely thin and I could hear everything going on in the room next door. The breakfast consisted of low quality muffins and cold cereal. I couldn't find any internet access, although the sign at the front of the motel claimed there was internet access. I think the motel would get more business if they did some cleaning and upgrading. The man at the office seemed pleasant, though. I got a lower price by just walking in and asking for a room than was advertised by internet sites.

Having pre booked for two nights, my friends and I arrived at the motel at about 4pm-5pm. There was no one in the reception and after about 20 minutes of trying to raise someone, one of my party went through to the back of the reception and woke the manager up. He was very laid back and gave us the keys to the room. We had booked a roll-away which we had to ask for, then had to ask for it to be dusted off. The gentleman was very obliging. At this point we were tired and wanted to eat, so we took little notice of dirt, covering the settee with towels so that the dirt did not get on our cases. The electrics were hanging off the wall and the vent was so clogged with dirt we doubted it was doing any good. There was an old microwave in the room but it was in the bathroom area where there was no plug, so would have to be carried to the other side of the room if it indeed worked. The carpets were so dirty we kept our shoes on. We went out to eat then returned just to sleep. Out of the three of us, none slept well, and early in the morning we decided to leave, not even wanting to chance the shower. We rang the organisation with whom we had booked and they rang the hotel who agreed to refund the second night. This was done within a few days. The booking organisation also kindly gave us a 50% refund on the first night for compensation. The rate we had paid was similar to that we had recently paid at a top hotel in Vegas. I would not recommend this motel to anyone, you would be better sleeping on the beech.
