We met friends for dinner in Cayucos on our way back to Portland and decided to splurge on an overnight in town (over $300/night)…..really wish we had read all the reviews before making the reservation. Just about everything wrong with this place listed in reviews from prior years is still here as well as a new one for the list. The walls are so thin you can easily hear people in the next room….the kitchen had clearly had not been cleaned….floors had not been vacuumed or swept….there were what looked like urine spots on the floor around the toilet. We were both so tired we figured we’d chalk it up to a bad decision and just get some sleep and leave early in the morning….however, the sheets on the bed were wet!! We call down to the front desk and have to go down there to get dry sheets…no apology….just hands me the new sheets, turns his back and walks away. We remake the bed and try to get some sleep while listening to the guy coughing in the next room. Clearly this place’s owners/management do not give a damn and will continue to ignore the problems as long as people continue to stay there. Based upon the prior reviews these problems have been around for years. Don’t make the same mistake we did….avoid this place!!

My husband and I booked our room for two nights for total of $311.36. When we got there we were charged another 22.40. I questioned this charge and the clerk asked if we had a dog and I said no. She said she would have the manager/owner take off the charge. When we got home I tried to call the owner/manager and they never picked up phone. Also send an email which was never answered. Well today I get my credit card bill and they charge me 2 times $22.40. Beware of charges before you stay there. Also, the room was not cleaned before we checked in. Was told the maid would come around to sweep because construction had just been done, the maid never showed up. Just booked for the same weekend next year at a DIFFERENT hotel.

My family booked two rooms for a quick beach trip. This was the town of childhood vacations. The whole town has gone to crap, but this hotel is the worst of it! After checking in and paying for the rooms, we went to put our things away. The rooms were dirty (something dripping down the walls). The fireplace had a constant open flame that was not able to be turned off (not safe for toddlers). The bathrooms were not clean. The phones were inoperable. Ceiling fans didn’t work. We figured we'd just deal with it, block the fire place so the kids couldn’t get to it, etc. we went to dinner and came back. THE ROOM REAKED OF NATURAL GAS!! I went to the office (remember-no phones) and the lady (she said she was the managers wife) offered the switch rooms. If the hotel has a gas leak, a different room won’t matter. We declined and said we would not be staying. It’s not safe for my family, not to mention the $250 a night price tag!! Outrageous. After a phone discussion with the manager, he said he would approve a FULL refund with booking.com. I received the refund, booked another room at Estero Bay down the street, and thought the matter was closed. Had a pleasant weekend and returned home. A few months later, after returning home to the east coast, I get a letter from a San Diego collection agency. The CROOK MANAGERS SENT US TO COLLECTIONS!! Forcing us to pay over $400. STAY AWAY!! They are crooks. I’m sure they have done this before knowing we lived out of state and would not be able to pay the high price of travel and lawyers to sue in California, certainly more than $400. Again STAT AWAY!!! The weekend trip as created a nightmare!

could not connect to WiFi the entire stay, manager was polite about it but not helpful. Our room door did not work, literally took a minimum of 5 minutes to get the door open each time.Reported to mgr, he said he fixed it, but when we came back, still did not work. Breakfast was "ok"...free is free so I don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

This was the hotel we were relocated to when we encountered some (quote-unquote) “room problems” at the Holland Inn in Morro Bay. We paid the same price ($107.19) here as we would have at the Holland, and this one was not within walking distance of the beach, nor really anything else, as tourism in the tiny community of Cayucos is... limited. We felt swindled at the beginning, but even more so when we saw our room. It had a vague smoke aroma, but generally clean air— the bedspreads and shams, however, were another story. Our walls were badly damaged and scuffed, with light fixtures broken as well. The fluorescent light above the sink flickered nonstop and brightly, giving the room a lovely atmosphere reminiscent of a dark Tarantino flick. Inside the bathroom, the rack in the shower was held together with duct tape, the only thing left of the towel rack was one bracket screwed into the wall, and the “roll” part of the toilet-paper-holder was gone all together. I’ll just say that if “shabby-chic” is your thing, then this is the place for you! To top it all off, I was presented with a warning when attempting to sign into the wifi, because Apple recognized the network as “not trusted” because the license had expired years ago. Sketchy, much? Anyways, it’s a place to stay. A bare-bones one, sure, and absolutely not the best you can get for your dollar, but if you’re desperate... That’s up to you.

This was a very pleasant motel for an overnight stay. Breakfast was included and was very substantial. A very good find on a very wet and cold night. Located on the main street it was very easy to find somewhere to eat.

Old beach town motel. Only stayed here driving up the coast because it was pet friendly and they had vacancy. Not worth the $300 (including pet fee). If you don’t have a pet, there are other nicer places in Cayucos to stay. It was clean and conveniently located, walking distance to the pier and restaurants. But that’s about it.

Eventhough we paid the room in advance, the owner charged us the same room multiple time. When we realised it the first time, we confronted the owner at the hotel. The owner told us that he has already taken care of it. Four days later the same room was charged again. We called the owner again. He kept repeating the same lie.
