We had a great visit and stay at the Cass House in Cayucos CA for a long Valentines Day Stay. It is a very nice small boutique hotel nicely renovated. It’s a historic old house built by one of the towns founders, Capt.Cass. The beach is very close by and pleasant.

In an otherwise sleepy and quiet town, cass house triumphs as a cozy small-town restaurant with uptown service and food. It had the most vegetarian options in the area, with their whole roasted cauliflower and mushroom flatbreads being our favourite. The wine list was extensive, and our server helped to pick a great one. The restaurant actually encouraging sharing, which we enjoyed and greatly enhanced the dining experience. We’d pick this as a special occasion dinner, but also a must-visit if you’re driving down highway 1.

We had passed Cass House for years. We finally tried it. Atmosphere more casual than you might think. Food was surprisingly good. Moroccan beef was beautifully grilled, the shrimp perfect. Whoever operates the grill is good at ot!

Was excited to try the restaurant, smallish menu, over priced. Reservation for dinner unavailable but when I left at 6 ish it was almost EMPTY. Food was so so, shrimp looked nothing like what was advertised, no grilled lemon with it, in fact everything is ala carte. $28.00 for mediocre shrimp and nothing else, hmmm not buying it. Food was ok, maybe worthy of 3 stars but that's being generous.

My husband and I been annual visitors to the Cass House Restaurant prior to it’s new ownership and significant updates. Although it was always enjoyable eating, somewhat formally, in the historic house, the ‘Grill’ now provides hybrid al fresco dining. The menu is contemporary with local ingredients highlighted and offers portions that makes sampling and sharing very easy. It was enjoyable watching the cook staff preparing the fresh ingredients in the outdoor ovens. While the seating is casual and relaxed, the food is well prepared and upscale enough to make you feel you just experienced fine dining.

Wow... what an amazing dinner!! Locally sourced food, so very imaginative and delicious! Beautiful setting and outstanding service. Absolutely loved the mushroom fettuccine.... but the real surprise was the grilled peas in the pod. Must try this at home!! Don’t miss it!
