I left my jacket in my room at the Summits. I was at the Meadows and had already called the Uber. Christian got on it right away and as a result the jacket arrived very shortly atter the Uber did. He had help from his friends whose names I didn't catch. The issues are really more about the management. First, someone had the bright idea of swapping out the packaged amenities (including the bar soap) for the pumped versions. Besides being cheaper stuff, the pumps don't fit in the showers and – this is prety basic when it comes to pumps – they don't pump. You need to pump about 8 times to get any reasonable amount of shampoo etc. Also, for the second time in our last 4 visits, they picked our exact week to close the Summits pool. Once, I understand. It would be bad luck and occasionally you have to close a pool for maintenance/upgrades Twice in 4 visits, you need to make it good with a credit that we can then use to finance the day rate at the Hyatt next door. The Meadows pool is a long way from the Summits. But they were having none of it despite many complaints. But the other stuff was good. The staff is of course exceptionally well-trained in guest relations, the rooms, though getting a bit tired, are still very private, well-appointed, soundproofed and extremely well climate-controlled. And Seasons has finally gotten its act together to be an excellent restaurant. We somehow got the worst room in the whole place, allegedly becasue we requested it (we didn't) so note the room choice thing below.…
We spent 4 days sharing a 2 bedroom unit with family and it was a great spot to relax after a day exploring north county San Diego. The setup is great for privacy and for gathering at day's end. Each bedroom suite has a large bathroom, a small kitchenette with coffee maker and microwave, a large closet space, and even a separate balcony, and entrance. When you're ready to "people" you can head out to the living area, which has a full kitchen, living room with a fireplace, a dining room and another larger, balcony. The views are great and the atmosphere is very laid back. Location-wise, you don't get ocean views, but due to the elevation, the room we were in had nice views of rolling hills, palm trees and felt somewhat tropical. You are a short drive to the beach, downtown Carlsbad (Carlsbad Village) the train station, or even cool little beach towns like Encinitas, Cardiff and Solana Beach. So many beachside communities to the south or even a short jaunt up to Orange County. Don't sleep on Carlsbad; it's closer to a lot of things than you might think. The staff kept the units very clean, it was quiet, the curtains kept the room super-dark for late mornings in bed, and the rooms were very comfortable. I highly recommend this property if you're spending a few days with family in the San Diego area. …
We cannot say enough good things about this property! We've stayed a handful of times and look forward to returning many more! Peggy (Guest Experience Concierge) always takes wonderful care of us during check-in. We love how dog-friendly it is, as there is a designated dog park, as well as a beautiful walking trail alongside the lagoon just down the road. We look forward to our room service delivery each visit, as the young gentleman who brings us breakfast goes above and beyond to provide 5-star service. (I'm blanking on his name but he shared he has a corgi puppy - you're the best!) Parking is super easy, the fireplace in the room is one of our favorite amenities, and the hottubs throughout the property are wonderful. We look forward to visiting in the summer to utilize the pool! …
We booked this spot because it was close to Legoland and we could get rooms next to each other for our family Christmas. Many places were booked for Christmas but we managed to get this. Check in at the front desk / lobby was great and the staff very helpful. Nice holiday decor and very welcoming. Our villa though was a little hard to find as ours did not have a sign for the building. We had connecting rooms. One the size of your typical studio hotel , but very nice with a coffee station and a lanai/patio. The one bedroom suite was fabulous with, dining, living and kitchen (full kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine and coffee, and fridge) . Plates and silverware and anything else you needed to dine in, which we did most of the time. There were patios off all the rooms. Room service was great and the breakfast burrito was a hit! We had great food everyday. The Christmas Eve dinner was really fabulous. We very much enjoyed it. We only had one hiccup in our reservation for dinner but the matter was resolved by Ms Tatkowski. Can’t say enough about the place.…
The property is lovely, and our room was gorgeous (loved the fireplace!). But what really made the visit was the way the team, especially Julia Shorr, took such care to thoughtfully welcome my 3 year old son. So sweet and special! Dinos and treats and little special toys.
Seemed or sounded like a great place for a short stay but when we checked into our room it was fairly average. Kinda small, average furnishings, no water or snacks or really anything that makes a resort special, or make your feel special. Worse was the room we first got backed to a busy and noisy street with the only view of any kind, some power poles and lines. In fact, I believe that's the case for several of the buildings at the "resort". After complaining they did move us to a different and much better location room, but that of course coming back to pack-up, pick-up, and move. Also, the highly touted restaurant served a rare (purple inside) steak sandwich, and a really tasty soup, but with no bread or crackers. When my wife asked for some bread, it took some 15+ minutes, soup was mostly gone and cold, it was burnt, and they charged $5. On the bright side, the staff was very warm, helpful and friendly, the bed was very comfortable, and the very close (5 minutes) expensive golf course was outstanding.....best in san Diego area.…
We are part of a group of families that have been coming here together once a year for about the past decade. It was a little tough in 2021 ( for the obvious reason) but this is one of the most consistent, lovely hotel stays we have had. I am appreciative for the fantastic service, the sweet staff, the great food, the wonderful rooms, the gorgeous property - and also for all the wonderful memories our family has from this place.
Attractive resort, nice pool areas, didn't use spa or dinning facilities. We stayed in a 1 bedroom casita. Ground floor, and although hotel was fully booked, never heard noise from above. Casita infrastructure was good condition: Woodwork nicely painted, AC worked well, appliances in good working order. Casita had 2 full bathrooms, a BIG plus for me. Spacious and comfortable. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is furnishing. Some furniture was obviously dated (and in only fair condition). The newer items (sofa, chair, headboard) were singularly unattractive and had no continuity with existing items - even the throw pillows. It felt like the place was half refurnished. Don't know what is going on with that. Definitely not up to Four Seasons standards. However, we would come back because it was so comfortable and well located. Also, a service person contacted us on second day and followed through really well with our requests. On balance, a very good experience.…
My family has been coming here for 21 years (since before I married and had kids). This might be our last year. Aside from the deteriorating condition of the villas (rusting refrigerator is w), the kids are not allowed to have any fun in the pool anymore. My kids (ages 10 and 14) were told they couldn’t throw an inflatable ball in the pool. No guests were complaining it was bothering them. This morning. At 9am in the morning, with no one else in the pool, they were told they had to stop playing “Marco Polo.” Not sure how this is a family-friendly resort anymore. Very disappointed. If you’re considering coming here with children, I’d reconsider. We used to love coming here but it’s just not the same.
My husband and I have been owners at Aviara for 22 years and our family always looks forward to spending time at this facility. This year there was a clear decline in service. During our week stay, we had to call housekeeping every single day to request more of the standard items- towels, shampoo, kitchen or washing soaps. Things like Kleenex or paper towels were never replaced when they ran out. Though all the staff was pleasant, there was absolutely no follow through with actions. I had mentioned three times- pre-check-in, at check-in and at checkout that it was my daughter’s birthday and she had had a very hard year. I requested balloons or such to celebrate, but nothing was done until we were literally departing and then only because I mentioned it to the manager. I know this is not standard procedure for a Four Seasons. Many activities were not operating yet and that was a disappointment. There was no kids club, and except for one Saturday activity there was nothing scheduled for children. When our children were young, there was so much activity available and that is not the case. This was not a typical Four Seasons experience and we were all disappointed that it didn’t live up to our pre-Covid experiences.…
