Just don't stay here. An antagonistic bald man banged on my car window then demanded to know my room number and my name, accusing me of trespassing off of the street and camping in their lot. In the middle of the night, when I went out to my car to get a few things, grilling me about why I chose to enter their lobby a certain way earlier in the day, and speaking to me like I was a criminal. Had I encountered this tall man before I would have never come to this place. Before him there was a younger man who was very friendly, always smiles. Not all front desk staff at this location would leave one with a good taste in their mouth but this particular man, let me tell you, unbelievable. I don't know; you tell me your name, I'll tell you mine. And I'm not going to tell a stranger, especially one who's standing over me who just rattled my car window, what room I'm staying in. If you check in here it's probably best to not feel comfortable enough to go anywhere. How much do you pay these people to treat you so terribly? And they probably have cameras in the rooms too, jeez. I'm sorry but you just don't do that to someone. I thought I was a "guest." This upsetting experience got me to reassess my opinion and prior esteem of the staff working here. And no one even apologized. Shame on this La Quinta and in my experience, increasingly, this hotel brand is getting worse and worse. I'd complain about this but I just won't be back. You might ask if after how many so many bad experiences if this location we came back but the hotels were booked up that day, this was the only what we thought would be acceptable mid-range option. And why did we book another night in the uncomfortable sofa room in a noisy unsecure property? Well, we didn't want to deal with Sunday traffic and preferred to spend the day getting some tasks done. The bed was comfortable, and the clock worked so they had that going for them, and the room wasn't typically as musty, worn and as unhealthy is the usually are. Call it complacency but we paid the price for it. This situation could have turned into an argument and I was glad he finally walked away. Found it hard to relax for the remainder of the night much less pack up and leave. This was about 11:30 at night and I naively thought I could go out and lock myself into my car (smart practice) and get the few things I needed. How would you like a stranger to bang on your window, stare you down and demand personal information and gaslight you into thinking you're not staying there? It's a nightmare. In fact there's few hotels in this area recommendable by yours truly because of comparable situations. The nearby Studio6 actually yelled at me across the desk in September, and worse else, so I suppose this experience now with the La Quinta is objectively nothing. I am so fed up with the low ethical standards of the hotel ("hospitality") industry and nowadays who needs that kind of expensively redundant stress? Only at the La Quinta. Listen up, kind guests; Michael Myers is in the vicinity! Yeah, and he's rattling your glass window. I'll do the opposite of the Arnold thing and won't "be back."…
Ok place in good location, close to I-5 and Legoland. We were in room 201 second story over the cafe area.It was well situated without another room on one side and the window does not open to the walkway,so is private enough for leaving the curtains open. It was little strange that the king bed only had a lamp and bedside table on one side. So the person on the right gets to read with a flashlight! The whole place smelled damp and musty.
Old and outdated rooms. Smelling bad dirty carpet and ripped. Stained bathtubs. Not recommended for kids. Worst than a cheap motel. AC units were old and in need of maintenance. Not worth the price and bunker beds are old too.
While the geographic location of the hotel was very convenient to the beach and coastal towns, it's nearness to the interstate made it very noisy all day and night. the hotel itself could use a bit of renewal.
My family and I stayed (2 children 4 & 5) here for 4 nights 2 weeks ago. We were visiting Legoland and wanted something close that wasn't ridiculously priced. The La Quinta was perfect. No frills, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast they had was a nice addition and the option to sit outside was great.
Key cards constantly lost their magnetic information. The place overall felt like it was a little run down. Easy to walk down to the beach, and grocery store. Kids had a lot of fun in the pool and hot tub. We were here during surf cup so we had to stay here so the price was like 230 a night, which is very expensive for this place. Otherwise rooms were clean, bathrooms were clean (though seals around tubs seemed kinda grungy).
The staff is the best, but the property needs to be remodeled in a major way. The sleeping rooms are out dated and needs repairs in the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful , they showed concern and honesty to be as a guest.
Im wondering if this hotel have cleaning crew Rooms are dirty with strong odor, bathroom was not cleaned after previous guest, sheets have mold spots. Overpriced place that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone
The Room smelled foul, horrible odor that would not go away. Carpet was damp and dirty…filthy dirty. Our white socks got dirty within 5 minutes of walking into the room. Several Electrical outlets did not work. Old food left behind tv console. Wish I never booked this place
This was the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced. The room was disgusting. There was mold in the shower and the bathroom was not clean. The shower had a leak so there was a constant puddle in the bathroom. When we walked into the room it was extremely humid and this only got worse. The floor was wet, never dried and I put on brand new white socks and walked from bathroom to bed and they were black and wet. It was so gross I had to wear 2 pairs of socks in the room just so my feet were clean. When we got into the bed, our sheets were damp and felt as though we were laying on wet towels. We left feeling sick from toxic air from the room. Our cardboard packages just sitting on the counter became soft as thought they’d slipped into water. I read some negative reviews before staying but also saw a lot of positive so I disregarded the negative. Terrible mistake. If you have booked here, I’d recommend changing hotels. It’s not worth the ‘good deal’. We told the front desk manager of our issues and she clearly knew this was a problem because she wasn’t shocked, didn’t want to go with us to review the room, never apologized but was willing to comp us one night stay but we’d have to contact legoland since it was a vacation package. Still waiting for my refund….There are 3 hotels within walking distance to this hotel that I’d recommend. I cannot imagine this place will be open much longer as there’s no way it’ll pass inspection.…
