EDIT 16/03/2021: after posting those reviews and final warning by email, we finally had contact with the Rinconcito Lodge, and they refunded us the room. Let's just say that, even if that was not handled well from the beginning, it ended well. I'm adding a star to be fair. Also, bear in mind that I'm not judging the quality of the stay as I never had a chance to experience it. ---------- We booked a trip to Costa Rica in 2020, and one of our stays was planned in the Rinconcito Lodge, and we booked a cancellable room. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19, we were forced to cancel our whole trip to Costa Rica, including that room. We sent an email to cancel on 30/09/2020 for a stay scheduled in mid-december, well within the conditions to request a cancellation. We have never received any answer from the Rinconcito Lodge, not even the slighest acknowledgment, not after 4 attempts. We tried going through a local intermediary, whi had contact with, and even though they promised to reimburse that, that has never happened. We are now in march, 2021, and my only option will be to take action with VISA, and possibly more, to get back the money that is due to me. I can only strongly denounce this and recommend to stay away from them. The shame is, we would most probably have booked back with them at the first chance to book our whole trip again...

During our 2 night stay, the staff of the Rinconcito Lodge hotel made us feel at home, the service was the best, (thanks Marcel) and the room and its beautiful views. It is amazing to get up in the morning with the singing of the birds and be able to sleep peacefully with the sounds of the rain forest. I definitely want to come back soon !!

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. I think we had one of the newer rooms, because it was modern and spacious, with a fridge and airco. We didn’t try the airco: it was sufficient to open up the windows in the evening. Dinner was actually surprisingly good for the price ($11 for a small soup/salad, your chosen main course and a small dessert). The oldest waiter was extremely friendly!Breakfast on the other hand was a bit disappointing compared to other hotels. If you like hot dishes for breakfast, you’ll probably be happy here! The location is great to visit Rincon de la Vieja (both visitor centers can be reached quite easily).

We ended up booking here because of a change of plans with our flights during the holidays and we were so happy we did! This area was not part of our original plans for our Costa Rican adventures but now I wished we had spent more time here. Upon arrival I believe it was David who took care of us. There was a bit of confusion with an email chain we had regarding our room booking but he handled and all was sorted out. He was super friendly and willing to help with any questions we had. The lodging was exactly what we were looking for. We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids -ages 10/8/6) and this was our first stop on our trip. The location is beautiful, the rooms were simple and clean. We got a lot of use out of our hammock and although the pool was "fresh" water (a tad chilly) the kids spent a good amount of time in it and it was a nice area to hang out and relax. The breakfast was excellent and I think they will even pack a lunch for you as an additional service (that's what it seemed like others were doing - confirm this though). We also ate dinner here which was good and reasonably priced. We had a rental car so did the touring on our own; however, everything was also offered through the Lodge and the pricing was fair. I highly recommend staying here as it was one of our favorites! Pura Vida!

Bungalows spread in a labyrinth pattern so not one on top of the other. A lovely pool even though too cold to swim. Clean room, correct. A wonderful hammock on my balcony looking out over the jungle so great for birdwatching and relaxing at the end of the day
