We have stayed at IotL for many years, often twice a year. We were getting a great room rate, based on loyalty. But since the pandemic, they have increased our rate by over 50%. We have spent the thick end of £10k over the years, but now that counts for nothing. We get the same rate as someone staying there for one night for the very first time. We have a personal connection with many of the staff, but that too is now at risk. Perhaps we don't fit their target audience? Weddings and young go-getters, the future!

Dear U5690ZAmarkh Thank you for your review, we are somewhat saddened by your comments. Rates vary depending on the time of year (peak or low season) but you were offered a discounted rate for the period you wished to stay as you are a valued guest but in your mind it wasn't a sufficient discount. In these times when the industry is badly suffering, trying to survive and retain jobs for the staff at the hotel, its surprising that a valued guest who we try to make special on every visit would resort to putting such a review on this platform . Its unfair and inaccurate to mention weddings and go getters insinuating we are only chasing money , we are dealing with devastated brides and grooms who actually either cant have there wedding they want or are rebooking there very special day with all the upset that goes with that, large weddings are not on the horizon as you must know they are limited to 15 guests. Let us wish you well and I do hope your safe and well and may we all get back to some kind of normality very soon. Kind regards Gary and the team

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in December on a dinner, bed and breakfast package. We treated ourselves to a lake view room and it was absolutely worth it for the stunning views. The hotel was faultless, everywhere was very clean and extremely COVID-friendly. As part of our package, we ate in the fine dining restaurant every night and we didn't need to visit anywhere else, the food was out of this world. Most of all though, the staff made our stay. We felt so looked after, you can tell the team here are very close-knit and take pride in their work. We will definitely be back again to experience such luxury in a magical setting. Highly recommend if you are looking for an escape in the nature of the Lake District.

We frequently visit this hotel throughout the year, today I took my wife and her mum there for a coffee, we sat in lounge as we normally do, waiter took our coffee order, whilst we were drinking our coffee a person came up to our table and said for all to hear enjoy your coffees but you are not supposed to be in here it’s for residence only, no sign warning of this coffee waiter never said and he new we were not staying on this occasion , now if he wanted us to move to another room we would of no problem, but to tell us and then say it’s okay to stay WHATS THE POINT.

Dear Keith Thank you for posting your review, let me start by apologising for the miss understanding. The hotel was closed to non residents over the period of the 3 day Christmas break, this is not the norm but in the current climate we took the decision to protect the guests staying inhouse who had paid a lot of money for the break and needed to feel that there was plenty of space for them to enjoy there Christmas without being uncomfortable. We did put a sign on the door and opened the Ramblers bar and Candle room for visitors who wanted coffee and drinks. You came in sat and was greeted by my bar man , I also said hello to you and wished you a merry Christmas unfortunately the other member of staff who meant no harm or to offend you was just following the guide lines put in place, he is a very nice Spanish gentleman who would never be rude or wish to upset you but since you were sat with coffee should of just let you finish, he has been spoken to along with the receptionist who should of spoken to you on entry. but just to reaffirm he meant no disrespect. These are very uncertain and challenging times especially in this industry where jobs, businesses and livelihoods are at stake, I have witnessed some very out of character behavior over the last month but we all have to understand the unfortunate and worrying situation we are in at the moment but again please let me apologise for this regrettable incident and finish by wishing you well and please stay safe. Kind regards Gary and the team

Where do I start. Just wow. The place is outstanding. It looked from the outside absolutely beautiful, arriving in the car park in December at 4.00pm, Xmas lights, first impressions looks great. Thought due to a review I had read, that it was worn and a little dated inside, don't get too excited, wait until I see inside. Lesson to self don't believe everything you read. Staff, absolutely perfect, all smiles whilst being professional, they genuinely make you feel so welcome. Room, perfect, number 44, with fantastic views, with balcony. Would book this in the summer, not necessary in the winter. Now for the Food and Service, capitals intended. The best me and my husband have tasted, there were no delays with service after each course, it was just so smooth. Was starting to think there has to be a downside, the forever pessimist. Bad sleep, no, just blissful. Breakfast that's where it will all go wrong, how annoying they get, all PERFECT. That word again. I write and post this review with a heavy heart, as I have never been good at sharing. 😊. Book this hotel and you will banking happy memorys. Merry Christmas.

We have just returned from The Inn on The Lake and what can I say - Magical. It’s our first time in December and the decorations were gorgeous. We tend to visit the hotel for our anniversary in March and we did that this year before lockdown. Then when the hotel opened in July we returned and I have to say we felt so safe and well looked after we returned in Sept, then in Oct and again this week. We always try and book a Lake View Feature room. Well done to the staff and management the hotel is first class from reception, through to the bar staff, the food and the rooms.
