Had a Fantastic pre Christmas stay as always at the hotel, the hotel always looks fantastic at Christmas with all the decorations. breakfast was lovely and great service from the staff. will be back again next year.
My partner and I have been regular visitors of the hotel and bar over the years, on this particular occasion we drove into the car park to stop for some lunch - as we have done many times before. Once we were out the car the back entrance looked shut, we walked around the hotel and then back to the car where we waited to ask a member to staff from the cafe if we could park here to use the cafe. This took less than 10 minutes in total. Since this we have received an car parking fine which has come to £160 since unsuccessfully trying to appeal, the hotel staff are dismissive, rude and unhelpful. We would never dine or stay again at this hotel because of the shocking customer service received throughout this ordeal.
We had a super few days stay. Felt very safe with all the precautions in place for COVID. Really enjoyed the pool and had 2 excellent meals in the Beckside Bar. Staff worked exceptionally hard to maintain great service and standards in these challenging times. Special mention to breakfast staff and reception - nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated the efforts they made .
My friend and I stayed here for a weekend get away. Welcome was good and processes good to minimise risks associated with the pandemic. Room was in need of an uplift, tatty furnishings, chipped paint, tv with barely any signal but when it came to the bathroom, this was a downright disappointment - chipped tiles, mould - throughly disappointing. We slept okay, despite being on the main road. We could hear the stream which was actually really nice. Breakfast was pretty good but orders were wrong on both days, which I find a bit disappointed considering we ordered the night before. I would probably stay here again but only if I got a good deal, at the moment I’d sooner stump up more and stay at the large neighbouring hotel.
Having looked at pictures on the website we booked an "executive"room with a lake view for a 4 night stay for my 50th Birthday. We were allocated Rm 30 (avoid if you can). No storage space except for a small 3 drawer bedside table for 2 people and a build in cupboard with 6 hangers and no shelving. The bathroom was Ok, putting aside the clear glass window and blind, but would have benefitted from some detail cleaning. The bed was awful and what sounded like a tap or shower being turned on and off every 5 minutes throughout the night. In the morning I spoke to Reception and asked to be moved, it was the worst nights sleep I`ve ever had anywhere. We were moved to Rm 39, just across the hall. The room was small, enough room to get around the bed but that`s all. No storage space again but we did have a shelf in the built in cupboard this time. The legs fell off the bedside table when I moved it away from the bed, clearly the bed was supporting it. The bed was comfy, which was the most important point for me, but again the cleanliness was lacking. Cobwebs above the bed, rubbish from previous occupant behind the chair and again grouting and shower area needed more attention. The rooms in general need some maintenance and updating. The staff were Ok but sadly no one stood out as far as providing excellent service. The menu in the bar was limited due to the current situation but was consistently good, the only thing this hotal actually has going for it. Would I stay again? No…
