I had the most wonderful time here. Peaceful, breathtaking views, lovely walks on the estate, and snuggly behind the large glass windows whilst it stormed. Spotlessly clean, delicious brownie welcome.

In January I stayed at this hotel based on people’s reviews, the pics in the hotel’s website as well as the hotel’s star rating. Unfortunately, this was far from the truth as explained below: 1. Although the hotel places emphasis on their cabins, at this National Park you will find several cabins that are “private property” and do not belong to the hotel. Hence their emphasis on cabins being relatively far from each other. 2. Private check-in and check-out. This allows guests to arrive from 3pm onwards and get the key to the cabin from the key locker adjacent to the door. However, I was not provided with the access code to the key locker. Besides, when I arrived, I had no mobile reception and could not call the hotel’s manager. I decided to hack the code of the key locker since it was extremely hot on the day of arrival. Hacking was easy since you can learn it from You Tube. 3. After having my shower and rested for half an hour, I started to unpack my things. To my surprise I found out the cabin was not very clean: a. There were spider webs at the entrance door of the bathroom. b. There was dust inside both bedside tables. c. There were ants in the bathroom and in the lounge room. 4. The kitchen did not match my expectations as below: a. All pots showed their age and were due for renewal. Because of this, it was difficult to cook with suitable pans. b. The toaster also showed its age, and it was rusty inside. c. The kitchen’s range hood was greasy. d. Some plates and coffee mugs were dirty. e. The kitchen’s grill and oven also showed their age and were rusty inside. f. The fridge was handy but noisy. g. The cutlery was also due for replacement. 5. The kitchen also had olive and canola oil, as well as sugar, tea and coffee. Anything else, needed to be brought in by myself (i.e. Salt, Paper towel, etc). 6. The bed was quite comfortable. 7. The air conditioning was not a split unit. This meant that it was noisy inside the cabin when using it. The unit also showed its age. 8. The hotel provided shampoo, conditioner and body gel, as well as toilet paper and tissues. 9. There was also a 32” Kogan flat screen TV with a DVD unit. You could also watch TV channels and listen to the radio on the TV. Both TV and DVD units also showed their age. 10. The balcony had a nice view since the cabin was located on top of a small hill. Although I mentioned the cleanliness issues to the hotel manager, I was not provided with a better and cleaner accommodation. Any proper 5-star hotel would either give you an upgrade free of charge or your money back for all the inconvenience. In a nutshell, although the cabin was located close to nature, the accommodation was not a 5- star hotel. Hence, I would not recommend it.…

Dear 845Ivanr I'm so sorry you did not enjoy your stay over the Christmas holiday. I'm also very sorry that you expected to be staying at a 5 star hotel. As anyone who has stayed with us before or looked at our website would know we offer secluded self-contained romantic cabins and holiday homes in the bush and are not a 5 star hotel. I sincerely apologise that this was your expectation but unsure what I can do about that. I do however, sincerely apologise that cleaning standards were not to our usual standard, I was overseas at Christmas when you stayed visiting family so although our staff did a fantastic job things were very busy and I can only apologise again. I'm happy to discuss if you wish and am contactable on 0403 806 310 kind regards Amanda

Great place to get away, nestled in the bush, private verandah with hammocks to enjoy nature. Made friends with some King parrots, lots of wildlife, saw an echidna, and fireflies were amazing to watch at night. Spent some time hiking and in Dungog for lunch but coming back to cabin was the highlight

We really loved our little getaway at Bluegum Cabins recently. Such a cute place . Great location & we had lots of wildlife visiting including a few bush turkeys that joined us for breakfast. We would happily return & hopefully next time there might be snow .

We had a long weekend away and stayed in Possum cottage. It was the best cottage with an open fire, a spa over looking the beautiful landscape (& a family of wallbies). Perfect with mountain bikes in nearby National Park and at Dungog common and a hike to the waterfall. It was private enough that you almost believe you are alone but close enough to see the owners should you require them. The photos do not do this premises justice. Thanks so much for this stay.

Loved our 2 night stay in Kingfisher! The daily itinerary consisted of a BBQ breakfast then feed the wild life on the balcony. Partake in alcoholic beverages continuously either in the cabin or on the balcony. Crank up the fireplace and then fire up the BBQ again for dinner and feed wildlife again. When the sun has settled retire into cabin and soak in spa bath afterwards stare longingly into fireplace when not staring longingly at your love one. Rinse and repeat the following day.

Absolutely magical stay - peaceful and surrounded by nature. The fire was built and ready, with tasty brownies on the table. The nests are a must stay for couples looking to take a treetop break. We loved the spa and waking up to abundant bird life. So close to home, but feels like worlds away. Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in The Nest. The birdlife was wonderful as we sat perched up amongst the treetops. A very comfortable bed, great ensuite and everything that was needed to self cater. All our needs were catered for including dry wood for the cosy fire on our one wet day. We would love to return. Wonderful hosts too.
