I recently returned from our amazing stay at the dreams royal beach. We ended up upgrading to a preferred swim up which I would recommend to anyone. We had an amazing time, from dining to excursions and all the activities during the day and night. With the preferred upgrade comes a butler, ours was Roberto. Oh boy was he amazing. He was there for anything we needed, and I gotta say I was extra needy but Roberto handled everything in a super friendly and professional manner. The upgrade was worth it just for his services, thank you Roberto. From helping with reservations, booking our covid, the little surprises in the room, printing out documents for us, and the list goes on. Am amazing job. The activities squad was amazing too. I got to meet dark chocolate and JR, must say they were supper friendly and energized. Some others who I remember whom provided amazing services Ernesto and lebron in the restaurants, amuris by the pool was supper friendly and so attentive. Omar and Marcus by the beach bar were amazing. Resiel by the bar at the restaurants hooked up some amazing drinks and super friendly. Jennifer at check in was great and helped us so much with arranging rooms for other family members. The girls at the explorers club were so amazing with our 2 kids (5&9). Eliza and the other 2 ladies thank you so much. I must say hands down one of the top customer experiences we have had. Food was good, we tried all the restaurants. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Visited all the sit down for dinner. Enjoyed them all. At the fusion, the chef Luis did an amazing job at the hibachi grill. The beach was beautiful, yes there was a huge amount of seaweed but after the first day it seemed invisible. The pools were great, you have options from loud to quiet. The shoes were so great. The fav was the circus, one of the best I’ve seen. Thank you again. We can’t wait to return!

Overall, this resort met expectations for what we paid. When reading reviews before the trip, I did expect a little more. Let me start with the positives: We decided to upgrade our room to preferred, based on other reviews and peoples recommendation. I booked through a local travel agent; and had inquired about upgrading before we left. The cost was around $600 US so we decided eh maybe we will wait and see. I would say to anyone considering wait until you get to the resort to book, we were able to make a deal of much less money for the preferred room (I'm sure it was based on availability) it ended up being the best thing we did! Preferred comes with a separate breakfast/lunch area (which in my opinion was a lot better than the buffet for these meals) and a butler as well as many other small perks. Originally I saw reviews for a specific butler, and he was off so we were put with Roberto. Roberto, you were nothing short of amazing anytime we needed you and it seemed it was fate that we landed with you as our butler. You were kind, funny, and nothing short of professional when it came to everything. I would not hesitate to say that you are seriously the GOAT! I'm sure the other butlers are very professional and nice, but if you have the chance to request ROBERTO seriously do it! He arranged our spa activities, anniversary beach romantic dinner that then had a hot bath and champagne waiting when we got back to the room, a breakfast in bed one morning, and even printed off copies of our negative covid tests for the airport for us. Anytime around the resort day or night I swear we saw him, and he saw us waving (even sending a random picture with I SEEEE you haha) which then became a battle of us going back and forth to see who could catch the other unnoticed with a quick photo! He gave us his personal number and was ALWAYS available for questions. I even saw him as early as 8 am one day and then at 9 pm the same day still working! The guy never stops, but hey I'm sure that's what it takes to become the GOAT :) Thank you for becoming a friend during our vacation Roberto (please let me know you got to see these lovely comments by commenting) The resort is overall very clean (I never saw a leaf in the pool) and our room was always kept immaculate by Maria! The BEST drinks are served by Jeffrin at the Veranda bar, we would walk from the beach to get one from him. They have the best drinks and you can tell he loves what he does, making sure every drink is perfect! (from a perfect color to a heart shaped straw wrapper)The last night I didn't know what I wanted, told him to just making something and he didn't even HESITATE and started mixing up something delicious. He's awesome!!! Now to the Negatives: I'd like to preface all of these comments that my husband and I are from a small town in the Midwest, we are super low maintenance and I'm someone who really doesn't say anything unless it was consistent enough to bother me. (we get everyone has a rough/busy night) Also, I know we traveled to Dominican in July so we knew it was bound to be hot temperature wise haha. (we honeymooned in Jamaica last year the same week) Service was really spotty in the restaurants. Which I was shocked about after reading the reviews before me. They have a very weird process that most times you get introduced to by a waiter and never see them again, someone else will check someone else will get your order. It was weird, I think if there was a little more consistency with that some of the following problems would be solved. Sometimes we would get an awesome waiter/waitress and have 0 issues. Other times we would go 15 minutes without a water even. For example I got a ribeye steak at seaside grill and it was about 8 minutes without a steak knife (I also didn't have a butter knife or I would've just used that) and at that point my husband flagged down a waiter to ask for one. The rest of that meal no one checked on us and we ended up leaving without dessert. Oceana: Food was really good this is a seafood/more formal restaurant. I got scallops and they were cooked perfectly (a hard thing to do) There was AC, but it was really stuffy and hot where out table was which made it difficult to eat hot food. Again spotty service with multiple waiters. Fusion: This is their hibachi style restaurant. The food was really good, but the "show" we had reservations for really wasn't anything just a guy cooking who didn't even really talk to us at all. I've had other resorts that had much better, and a different table we could hear was having an experience like what I was used to. We blew it off and still had a great meal, deciding to come back a few nights later just to eat at a regular table. I saw OUR SAME GUY actually giving a show like I expected earlier that week. I was disappointed and we felt a little ripped off that way. I know people have bad nights and I get that, I was just disappointed. Seaside: Delicious meal, however this is an outside dining experience. They had the drapes pulled and it was probably well into the 90s for heat. I was sweating so bad and pretty uncomfortable throughout the meal even getting a little nauseous. If they put a few fans in this area I think that would solve the problem! Other guests looked a bit uncomfortable as well and someone finally asked if they could pull the drapes up and it offered a small amount of relief (there wasn't really a good breeze that night) Italian: the food was okay, wasn't our favorite at all only went once Buffet: A lot of selection, average food for breakfast/lunch, we never made it for dinner with the other restaurants to try Overall I wouldn't hesitate to book this resort if you are on the fence. I just believe you get what you pay for. When we booked it was a great deal (looking later to see if it got cheaper for price match the trip was going for 2x as much and if it was that much more expensive for the same experience I got I wouldn't have booked) For reference other properties we have stayed at are: Iberostar in Cozumel and Rivera Maya, Grand Palladium in Rivera Maya, Dreams in La Romana DR, Ventus in Rivera Maya, and Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica.

We and a group of family and friends (eleven of us) spent a week at Dreams Royal Beach from July 14-21. Overall, it was exactly what all of the other reviews reported: Fantastic. We all chose Preferred swim-up suites. Our butler, Roberto, was nothing less than a dynamic hero throughout our visit. Without him it could have been a disaster. On arrival, our rooms were assigned helter-skelter. My wife, our travel agent, arranged the trip and made at least five phone calls directly to the hotel informing them of our requirements: They had promised that my wife and I would be next door to our son and family in the first floor swim-up suites. Our son’s friends consisted of two adults and their three children who were forced to rent two suites because the hotel will not permit five in a room. They were promised adjoining rooms with a common door between. On arrival at the Preferred desk, we found out that they had completely ignored our requests and gaslighted us all; we were at the opposite end of the building from our son and family and his friends had at least 6 rooms separating them from their children. Needless to say, they had eleven very angry guests at that point. Nothing worse than expecting reasonable perfection on checking in after a day of arduous travel. To our rescue came Rachel, the Preferred concierge, and Roberto, our butler. The next day, our son was moved next to us and his friends had their two contiguous rooms. That was when everything became wonderful again. The rest of the week was a pure delight in every way with plaudits to Roberto and every employee we met. He arranged for the eleven of us to be accommodated for all meals, so we were able to dine together at a different restaurant all week. One day, he arranged for a special Dominican lunch so we could experience dining like a Dominican. Room Service delivered everything to our son’s room and we all feasted together, along with a wonderful couple from two rooms away. My wife was just recovering from a hip replacement and also has COPD. Roberto arranged for a Rolls Royce of golf carts and drove us to every dining venue along with a wheelchair. If we didn’t have Roberto, it could have been a disaster. FOOD Meals were good and of consistent quality, though not five star. That was fine for us, NO COMPLAINTS from anyone! Following are our reviews by category SERVICE Every single employee we met was delightfully willing to help in any way possible. Drink service was constant throughout the week. BEACH Like all Caribbean resorts, sargassum was present, but totally managed by the beach crews. The Caribbean was a delight to swim in because Dreams has a floating boom with netting that drops down at least six feet underwater. Beyond that boom are drifting clumps of seaweed piled up against the boom and netting. The few pieces that make it through are swept up by a huge machine hauled behind a tractor, so you never see ANY accumulation at the water’s edge or on the sandy beach. Adjoining hotels that lacked the floating boom were inundated with sargassum. ENTERTAINMENT Our family and friends attended and enjoyed every evening show and were really impressed by the aerial acts and vocals. AMENITIES They had Hobi Catamarans that were enjoyed by our son who taught the entire group how to sail. EXCURSIONS There were plans to do excursions, but we were so pleased with the resort that we never felt compelled to take one. The range of excursions is more than most Caribbean Islands can offer and is totally safe. COVID PRECAUTIONS Every employee is vaccinated and proudly wear masks. We were tested (free) by the hotel before departure and given online documents to show at the airport. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the resort and the resort is immaculate in every way. We all highly recommend Dreams Royal Beach to everyone. We’ve been traveling for many years and notice that we feel really at home when the employees are obviously happy and proud of where they work. When there’s a misconnect between management and the workforce, you can sense it immediately. Obviously the management of DRB is treating their employees well and we thank them for that.

Overall a great stay at a beautiful resort! The food is good, drinks cold, and rooms very clean. One of our favorite staff members included our butler Roberto! He catered to our every need and became a friend during our week stay. It was my wife and I’s first anniversary and he helped me set up the romantic dinner and a bath with champagne for us when we got back. He also helped with a spa day and so much more! He is the true GOAT of butlers😏 I seeeeee you Roberto, and you were the BEST 😊👍🏻

This was our first trip as a family to the Dominican. Dreams more than exceeded our expectations! Everyone was so nice and welcoming! The food was delicious we loved the room service food so much also! My best salmon I’ve ever eaten was at seaside grill! Seaside grill was our fav and the buffet! Lucy in concierge was seriously the best always checking on us helped us with our Covid test scheduling and printed them out and had them delivered to our room for us! Also Raypheen at the infinity pool bar was the best bar tender ever! Also want to mention Thomas at the buffet he arranged a special Dominican meal for our family which was delicious and meant so much that they did that for us! I felt safe and comfortable the whole time I was there. This was our first all inclusive resort and so I can’t compare but I loved that this wasn’t a huge resort I felt safe that my kids could find me if they wanted to hang out at the pool while we went to the beach ect! Just FYI we did not do preferred and didn’t feel like we really missed out on anything! Oh and one more thing if there is one excursion you need to do and will not be disappointed it’s the trip to Saona Island for a day the bluest-greenest water I’ve ever seen and being able to swim very far out from shore was just amazing!
