The food is awful… that may be an understatement. Gnats and flies were swarming the food in the buffet. Smallest portions I’ve ever seen. Not many options, nothing is seasoned. People were stealing food from the buffets and taking it back to their rooms. Only restaurant worth visiting is Kyoto. The bars were serving children underage the whole time we were there, even though the kids had different color wristbands. Food allergies are not welcomed. No employees had any idea what gluten free meant. Practically no one is bilingual here, so freshen up on espanol. The beaches were full of seaweed and the water was mostly brown, not like the crystal blue bahama waters. All of the employees had an attitude and had no common sense whatsoever. I feel like a 5 year old would’ve understood me better. We tried to order room service and the hot dog roll was a rock and not even a roll in general. All of the desserts were pretty looking however one bite and i couldn’t even swallow it. Any activities for the kids were a rip off and even more money you had to spend. The water parks were small and worth maybe 15 minutes of my kids time. The slides also had cracks in them that left bruises on the kids. The wave pool never turned on. Take into consideration……
We are staying here now, through 1/2/2021. I have been impressed over and over with this place so far. Food is great, even at the buffet, we have eaten at two restaurants for dinner at this point and have more reservations through the week. Food is fresh. Staff takes CoVid precautions and they serve you, you can QR code’s and every wears a mask. The guests are all asked to use hand sanitizer and temp checked before entering the restaurants. This is our honeymoon and the staff has done several things to make it extra special from champagne in our room and cute shirts to discounts at the spa! Checking in went great too, luggage was sanitized before it touched the staff’s hands. We have the all inclusive package at the adults only side and it amazing. I am so glad they reopened just before we came and they just reopened La Brias too, which was a delightful dinner our first night. We didn’t have hot water at first but asked for it to be turned on and within 30 mins we had hot water. Since this side was closed for a while it makes sense things were off. They do want you to enjoy your time and have been very nice. I’ll add a update when we leave. …
This was an absolute GREAT resort, I went for a girls weekend getaway and had a blast! HUGE thank you to Raifel Bernardo Pena a staff member from the buffet and La Breeza...his professionalism and attention to detail was outstanding. He was always helpful and made our visit so worth it, because of how amazing he and all the staff was I will definitely be returning. As a matter of fact I can't wait to come back :-) I also love how you can go between the resorts, they have a golf cart or a cart like train you ride in (it's not enclosed so I felt safe taking it) that shuttles you around which is quite fun and convenient and everyone was masked up which showed me that they took the pandemic serious and wanted to ensure our safety.
Resort is absolutely gorgeous but the lack of attention to food safety is concerning! The selection of food at the buffet was assorted, yet the food was cold! My husband, myself and my daughter all suffered from food poisoning and were isolated to our room for 2 days! Disappointing!
The resort is closed (again) and we were not warned prior to our arrival, despite the resort closing several days before our arrival. I would have booked another adults only hotel as the palace side of the resort is absolute chaos during COVID. I’m disappointed Barcelo told us it would be open when we called and they even advertised the reopening on social media. I’d highly recommend looking elsewhere if a relaxing, adults only experience is what you are looking for, as this resort has twice proven they do not care about the guest experience.
