Resort is really beautiful but it is clear Covid has had an impact on the service and food. Our room was nice enough. We had no towels or toiletries in the room. No big deal they brought them right away. However, the buffet restaurant by the family rooms is not open and you have to travel to the front of the resort for meals. We tried to eat at the water park but of the 7 or 8 options on their menu they were out of everything except hot dogs and a ham and cheese sandwiches. No thanks. Communication to guest is a bit rough as to what is open and what they offer. Breakfast at the buffet was difficult as all the tables had been used and there was no where to sit with a clean tablw. After asking 3 people for assistance tables were cleaned. I am sure this place is great before covid but they are really lacking and a lot of small things are adding up to aggravation and interruptions to our vacation. However, Ronald at the desk to schedule excursions was great and very patient while we decided on ziplining, snorkeling, etc. Not sure I would return to this resort though.

Hotel's Favorite
This vacation was a last minute, unplanned vacation. We were going to Hawaii but some of the other family members became ill. You can only imagine my disappointment. However we chose to make the best of it and because Dominican republic has never disappointed in the past we decided to book a flight to DR. We had never stayed at this resort before so we were a bit hesitant because you were doing something and going to a place unknown. To our pleasant surprise even in the mist of a pandemic everything flowed perfectly the rooms are beautiful and comfortable it accommodates our entire family. The view and the whole resort is beautiful. What prompted me to write this review was the attention that we got from the entire staff but in particular there were some individuals that went above and beyond and completely out of their way to make our stay completely pleasurable. Ismael Lizardo made sure we had the best PRIVATE beach theme dinner for our entire family (12 of us). But in the restaurants our servers Fancisco Diaz, Sandra De La Cruz, y Manuel Peña were amazing!! I will definitely be coming back.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY Where Do I start? TERMITES IN THE ROOM FLYING! EMPTY POOLS POOL BAR CLOSED (ALL OF THEM) YOU MUST WEAR A MASK EVEN OUTSIDE LIFEGUARDS CONSTANTLY ON THEIR CELL PHONES HASSLE TO GET IN A BUFFET (ITS LIKE THE ARMY) MINI BARS IN THE ROOMS NEVER GETS FILLED BACK UP! SPA: Closed – See Pictures OK, So here goes; I went to the Melia Caribe Punta Cana Resort In Mid July 2021, First of All, NOBODY Spoke English, So Good Luck if You are from The USA. It Took Us about 90 Minutes to Check In, OK FINE. Let Me Tell You About the Termites in My Friend’s Room! Building 29-YUP And they Were Flying one Night, He Had to Call the Front Desk For them To Take out the Furniture That Was Infested. See Pictures Some of the Pools Were Empty (Not In Use) -See Pictures. The Main Pool Bars Were CLOSED! Roped Off! The Bar by The pool- CLOSED! With Plants Occupying Them – See Pictures! We Left Miami Where There were NO MASK MANDATES to go to resort where the workers and bar staff acted like the military telling you sternly to wear a mask OUTSIDE! Listen, I believe that masks work and we should respect others within 6ft and indoors, but OUTDOORS? Come on Guys! So Here’s Something funny, Remember the Mask Mandates and The Military Type Rules? Why Weren’t the Life Guards Following Their Protocol? They were Constantly On their Cell Phones NOT Being Attentive to the Guests. For You To Get Into the Buffet, It Feels Like you Have to Give Blood; We Got to the Buffet at 10:50am One Morning, Buffet Closes at 11am, The Hostess Didn’t Want to Let Us in! We had to Point Out Others We were with and Let the Hostess know that we were with them! Are you Kidding ME? Are We at an ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT? The Mini Bar Never Gets Filled Back up When You Use it, ok fine-Not a Big Deal – But What Happen When you Call them? NOTHING! Try 4 Times in 1 NIGHT! Then they Finally Came With Water For My Children! This was my experience, I hope yours wont be the same. Side Note: Beautiful Compound, but the Staff / Service was Horrible. There were about 5 great staff members, One Guy by the Main Bar Was Awesome.

The resort was beautiful; however, much has changed in the last 5 years, whether that be due to COVID and/or new ownership. A few family members visited in 2016 and had an incredible trip, which is why we returned again in 2021. We were disappointed at arrival to find that the entire resort had been flipped around with new names and some of the resort was under “construction”. We spent hours trying to change our rooms and they even tired to charge us to downgrade. It is understandable that Covid has affected functioning of resort, but don’t try to hustle your guests into thinking everything is just peachy. The food was good most nights, however, it is basically all the same food no matter what restaurant you go to with a few exceptions. Our favorites were Casa Nostra and Muoi. Despite the rough start, our concierge, Manuel Rijos, was absolutely incredible! He was extremely tentative and genuinely cared about our family enjoying our vacation. He made us reservations, made sure we were receiving supplies to our room, sorted out our shuttle home and much more! He even stayed late past his shift to help us figure out reservations! I cannot say enough about his excellent service! He truly made our trip a delight. In addition, he spoke English very well, which was helpful for us Americans. I wish I could bring Manuel on all of our vacations

This is our 2nd time & a dream come true bringing family this time around. This was better than expected with circus/magic/acrobatics/dancing/movies for kids. We have been embraced by the staff. Love it!
