Detailed Reviews
The best place on the island. My wife and I loved every minute here. Windell the bartender was the best, super friendly and made awesome drinks. The pool and property are well maintained and clean. The food was excellent. The showers had very good water pressure and you cannot beat the prices. Laundry services were a pleasant surprise also.

Apologies for the super late review. We stayed at Salamangka during Holy Week of 2014, the place was very well kept and all the staff are attentive, courteous especially the Manager. He always checked around to see if the guests would need something or contented with the services etc. He was even more friendly than the resort owners (Mr. and Mrs. Prager) which I believe should be even more friendly to their guests. Electricity was a problem in the island but Salamangka was well prepared for it.
Pizza Salamangka is very yummy and also their pasta dishes. Food is a bit pricey but no choice since the resort is quite far from the main road and also from the town proper. Beach was not good though. During check out, I was surprise when they asked me to pay or return the laundry bag since most resorts and hotels I've been to never ask me to do that and even gave me addional laundry bags to separate the soiled from clean ones. Anyway, I paid for it for USD3

We stayed at this hotel from the 23rd until the 26th April and unfortunately upon arrival our safe wasn’t working in our room (the batteries were removed) and within 24 hours a large sum of money (10,000 pesa (or circa £150GBP)) was taken from our bags in the room whilst we were on a trip outside of the resort. We reported this to reception whose response was that they would pass this on to their management. Frustrating as you expect your room to be the safest place on a secure complex, rather than taking all of your money out with you. Although we don’t regularly leave reviews, we wished to ensure that people are aware that this happened ahead of any potential visit.
Despite the theft of our money, I’ll leave a balanced review below of the pro’s and cons.
Positives:
- Clean rooms which are tended to daily.
- Well maintained gardens and lovely pool area.
- Good choice of food and drinks
- Perfect if you want a quiet, relaxed break around the pool.
- Good location for accessing local attractions such as the waterfalls and The Apo Island tour from Coco Grove.
- The staff made a special effort for our anniversary, which included a candle lit dinner, flowers and a homemade cake!
Negatives:
- The beach has a lot of rocks/debris before you can reach a swimmable area. If you’re going to the Philippine’s for the beaches, I suggest this isn’t the ideal resort. Although Paliton Beach is only a short ride away and is one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve visited.
- As above, theft of money was disappointing.
- There was practically no atmosphere in the resort, the most people we saw around the pool area at one time was 8 people (this is peak season), we ate alone in the restaurant and I can only assume people use the hotel as a base rather than somewhere to spend any period of time.
- Poor wi-fi from your rooms. Didn’t impact us much, but may impact others.
There’s plenty to see in Siquijor! If you’re staying here, get out and about!
Recommendations to the resort:
1. Seek to understand which member of staff is stealing money from your guests, as they will impact your relatively good reputation!
3. Play some quiet music around the pool/restaurant to add a bit of atmosphere - especially if there are only a couple of guests around.
4. Provide your guests with the map of Siquijor attractions upon arrival. We received this upon request and it was particularly useful for someone who isn’t familiar with island.

This resort have so much potential as it's nicely laid out and has a cozy boutique feel. We booked a poolview junior suite and it's comfy and spacious. However, things just kept disappointing from the time we arrived until finish. First, they failed to arrange a Port pick up for us after confirming the night before and Reception blamed it on poor handover. The road to the resort from the main highway is beyond despicable with severe potholes and tight spaces. Our room phone didn't work the whole time and was never fixed despite multiple assurances that they will. We had to go out and ask everytime we needed something. Wifi keeps dropping and connection is poor. The staff are nice enough but seemed incompetent and undertrained. Food was good at times, but what's irritating was that everytime we ordered, half of the menu is unavailable. How could you run out of chicken, or seafood and even fruits.. on a resort? They even cooked a cancelled order. A lot of issues needed to be addressed in this newly reopened resort and it's left to their inexperienced staff to deal with. Our room was ever only cleaned once in the 3 days we stayed and was done at 5pm. There was no manager or anyone around to address our concerns and all we got were half felt apologies after apologies.

far from the main road and other hotels or restaurants. horrible beach since you cannot even get to the sea and swimm because rocks make it inaccessible.
there would be though a potencially nice corner with white sand at least to enjoy the ocean view and some sunbathing...if only the resort would remove the mountain of trush and dirt of any kind and arrange some chairs and umbrellas.
the only alternative is to stay around a tiny, dirty, children and noises infested pool or run away.
it is just what i have done every morning to go back night time.
than what is the reason to chose this resort?
very poor/inexistent wifi.
overpriced restaurant.
very basic room with a scary huge crab painted at the back of your bed.
serious piping problem because water would jump out all over from the rusty holes and wet the whole bathroom and towels.
stay away!!!

Let me start by saying the (local) staff were very friendly and helpful. Other than that... everything was wrong!!
$400 USD for 2 nights
No hot water
No WIFI
No Seafood
Shuttle from the port was not included
Not a good beach for swimming or children
Broken Jacuzzi in the room
Food and Drinks were twice as expensive than anywhere else on the island
Breakfast was included when we booked.. not when we left.
The list goes on......
Frankly, it was a rip off!
When we explained to Christophe, the manager, about why we were disappointed, he became defensive and started arguing with us. Any "decent" person in that position would apologize and try to make things right to the best of their ability.
Stay somewhere else, rent a motorbike, and explore the island. We went around the entire island in one day. The waterfalls were magic and numerous marine sanctuaries had awesome snorkeling!

Charming hotel not only for divers. Expensive compared to other hotels in the island, but it benefits of a beautiful large swimming pool looking at the sea. Beach is not the best one to laid down as it is rocky, but the sunset is the best you can have. Excellent service, smiley personnel, pleasant daily talks with the manager, quite good restaurant(a little expensive) open 24h. However, cottages are not 5 stars as the rest, very simple and there is no TV(despite of what written on the booking site), bathroom to be renewed. Wi-Fi outside the cottage.

It was wonderful to get here after stops in Manila and Dumaguete. Fresh air and the only Sounds come from the Ocean and Music. Truly peaceful. I took a Bay view loft lovely room right by the pool and beach, the Bed is like heaven with all Down feather beddings super bath room with rain shower. They have Solar water heaters on the roof. Food and Service was incredible. Very well equipped Dive Center with super Dive Sites close by.
Thanks very much and I'll be back soon.

Stayed here for 4 nights in August, was AMAZING!
Stunning resort, beautiful rooms, amazing pool and fantastic staff!
Could not fault it.
The only downside is that it is a bit of a distance from the Port and if you arrive late the roads and lane leading to the Hotel are not well lit.

This is a brand new hotel, beautifully designed, in sleepy Siquijor.
Staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and engaging.
The rooms were fantastic - large, spotless, very tastefully decorated, with brand new beds, luxurious sheets, silent air conditioner, wide screen cable TV, iPod player, amazing large shower with rain shower head, fridge.
The hotel has a huge pool, with an adjacent bar which has submerged bar stools. The views of the sunset from the pool are some of the best we have seen in Asia.
We did scuba one day, and there are lots of small fish on the reef in front of the hotel, and the equipment is all top notch and brand new.
Hotel management were friendly, relaxed and very proactive.
Overall one of the best hotel experiences I have had and I would guess one of the best resorts in the Philippines.
Oh and prices are much cheaper than at all of the high end places in Siquijor. There is no reason to stay anywhere else.
