This is the 2nd time we have been to the Flamingo Marari. We just love it and plan on coming back again and again.

The rooms are spacious and have an authentic and charming vibe.
The pool area is clean and stunning.
You can take a canoe down the backwaters for 5 minutes and arrive at what feels like a private sandy beach. This canoe ride was consistently one of the most magical and memorable experiences of our stays. The ocean water is warm like bath water. It's safe. In the evenings, the locals are playing soccer and you can witness the best sunsets in the world.

The family who runs Flamingo are amazing people - we loved speaking with Varun, Rose and their adorable baby son. The staff are attentive and fantastic as well.
Joseph, Tom, Gracie, Minnie - everyone cared for us and provided us a wonderful experience, including helping us book a magical 8 hour Shikara sunrise ride on the Alleppey Backwaters, and organizing some incredible Ayurvedic treatments (Shirodhara and great massages) at a nearby Ayurvedic facility. Chef Benedict's meals are some of our favorites in India.

It's difficult to imagine coming to India again and not coming here again. This is our paradise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Flamingo Marari. All the staff, without exception, made us feel really welcome and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was very large with big 4 poster bed and the shower room was enormous. They provided toiletries, hairdryer, safe and a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities. Ladies were around all day to make sure everywhere was spotlessly clean, even down to removing leaves from the lawned areas. Breakfasts were buffet style, but they offered a la carte lunch and dinners. All food was really very good indeed. The swimming pool was a lovely area with comfortable sunbeds and much needed umbrellas to provide some shade. We loved the location of this hotel and enjoyed canoeing down to the beach multiple times. The beach was always deserted, soft clean sand, no loungers or facilities though, so take what you need with you. The sea was beautifully warm, although a bit rough, and we went for some lovely long walks along the beach in both directions. One morning, we used the hotel bikes and went out riding for 2-3 hours. The bikes were old, no gears, but working brakes! The roads were flat with very little traffic so it was a fun trip out and great to see daily life of the local villagers. The brothers have done a fantastic job with their hotel; we loved it. The only thing that I think could be improved is for them to offer a facility to top up water bottles with filtered water for free, which is what was available in all other hotels on our Northern India/Kerala tour. They do provide you with one small water bottle per person per day in the room but, after that, any additional water is chargeable. Highly recommended!

We recently booked the Flamingo Marari Boutique hotel for a 3 night family gathering with wonderful results. The hotel rooms are large and beautifully furnished with old style wooden furniture (4-poster beds etc.) and have attached large opulent bathrooms. The grounds are pristine and green. There is a very nice swimming pool that is clean and actually usable with only 4 feet deep throughout, so the whole family can safely enjoy it. The property is connected to the beach via a beautiful canal and guest can canoe themselves to the beach. This itself is interesting. The food was delicious and the chef was very amenable to making dishes catered specifically to our guests. One night, a very nice barbecue dinner with music was arranged for us on the lawns by the pool.
Above all, the host and owner Varun, who does a fabulous job of managing this property, catered to our every need and was extremely courteous and easy to work with. If you are looking for memorable stay in Mararikulam, I highly recommend this place.

This place is a bit off the beaten track a mile from the main Marari Beach area, but you can canoe from here (no charge) to the local beach which is just as good and a lot quieter. They also have cycles available if you do want to go to Marari, or Alleppey is 350 rupees in a tuk tuk so location is great.
Its a small boutique hotel with only 11 rooms so has a familiy feel to it.
The accommodation is also great with one exception - no fridge in the room.
The restaurant is also good and is recommended on Trip Advisor in it own right. However they dont have a goodstock of beer or wine, and when they do manage to source it the temperature of the beer is not cold.
The staffhowever are all lovely and cant do enough to help you.
So a couple of tiny changes could turn this review from a 4 to a five very easily!

We enjoyed our stay we had a very warm welcome and a friendly
guided tour. The staff were wonderful polite attentive but not overly so always happy to help and with a smile so thank you so much.

The house was really lovely sympathetically restored with nice touches and artefacts.
The pool terrace gardens and restaurant all facing the backwater was quite idyllic.
Breakfast and lunch snacks were really good. Lots of choice on the breakfast menu and the food was very nicely presented

BUT we didn't realise that part of the property was so close to the busy Marari Beach road.
Be careful when you choose your room we are not used to road noise so the traffic combined with the obligatory Indian horn hooting especially as an early morning alarm was not quite what we expected. The courtyard is really very nicely done and it would have been so nice to spend more time relaxing there but the traffic noise was too intrusive for us.
Also please be aware the hotel welcomes children and in our opinion the pool and terrace area is not large enough to accommodate both families and couples. The families are on a win win when this happens as the relaxation tranquillity calmness and serenity as portrayed in the hotel advertising is shattered
There are few restaurants around you need a tuk tuk ride of 20 to 30 minutes. We were unlucky with our stay as we were disappointed with the standard of cooking in the evening so didn't eat there as much as we would have liked.
It wasn't that we didn't like Indian food we had spent four weeks in Kerala before we arrived at Flamingo and enjoyed some superb meals.

I had stayed in this hotel before Covid in 2019 so I knew how fantastic it was. As we went through the gates it felt like coming home, we received a lovely warm welcome from the staff. Every single one of them is kind, helpful and friendly and the hotel is a haven. There are only eleven rooms so it never gets too crowded, the pool is just the right size, or you can take a kayak to the beach on the river that runs at the bottom of the garden. The restaurant is very good and a wide range of freshly cooked food is available throughout the day. We were there for three weeks, and during that time the restaurant staff were happy to cater with some different foods when we asked. The rooms are all different, the beds are extremely comfortable, our bathroom on this visit was huge with a little dressing room attached to it. The hotel has a great atmosphere and is perfect if you want to just relax and chill, I cannot recommend this hotel enough and I look forward to going back later in the year.

We stayed in Flamingo 1 week and everything was wonderful. Varun the owner and his staff from service to the kitchen and their room cleaners take care of you all the time. We had our best meals in this hotel. you have to order it in advance and they do that appropriate shopping for it and cook it very well for you. All fresh and nice. in the breakfast they asked you to choose Indian food or continental breakfast and they serve you as much as you want.
It's not that hotel by the beach but it's a 10 minutes walk or 10 minutes away by the canoes supplied by the hotel. I can say it was the cleanest hotel we have stayed in India.
I can recommend it to everybody

The Flamingo Boutique hotel, Marari beach, was a wonderful place to relax, explore the coast and sample the delicious food of Kerala. The room we stayed in was well appointed and clean, with a very comfortable bed and amazing walk in shower. The lovely and very professional staff were attentive and gave a really excellent service, often surprising us with refreshing drinks and going above and beyond to make us feel very welcome. The restaurant served some of the best food we tasted across our whole trip, cooked freshly to order, and the breakfast buffet was varied and delicious, catering for vegetarians very well. Lazing by the beautiful pool with a delicious iced coffee became our habitual morning routine. Perhaps the best thing about our stay was the short canoe ride down to the beach. Really easy to paddle, and super exciting after dark, with amazing bird life and the occasional fruit bat at dusk. The beach was almost pristine, and the warm waters of the Arabian Sea the perfect place to watch the sunset, with honey buzzard and brahmin kites circling overhead. I have no hesitation in recommending Flamingo Boutique hotel for short or long stay, and we shall most certainly be back to visit, when traveling in India again.
Sending our sincere thanks to the whole FB team.

My advice is simple - book a stay at the Flamingo, you won’t regret it!!!

We simply loved this little hotel. Small enough to make you feel special, yet big enough to provide outstanding customer service from caring, professional, helpful and friendly local staff.

We loved everything about our stay - the location, setting, building, furnishings, decor, food, service and attention to detail was everything we could have wished for.

Food was delicious, we ate here most nights and worked our way through lots of the menu. Highlights were the local Kerelan dishes and the almond milk and date milkshake must be tried.

Service was great - friendly and attentive with smiling staff who were always on hand to help and ensure we had the best time possible.

The short canoe trip or walk to the stunning deserted beach took my breath away on every visit.

This really is a hidden treasure.

There is not enough that you can say about this place, just 75 km away from cochin international airport lies this beautiful hamlet by the name Mararikulam. A quaint beautiful and unbelievably clean town. And in the midst of this beautiful setting is Flamingo Boutique Hotel, one of the best boutique resorts i have been to. You are warmly welcomed by Mr Varun and Mr Rahul the owners and locals who bring in the family touch to everything they do here. We were here for 3 nights and I cant think of anything that we thought off, and they didn't make it possible for us. We have one of the best welcomes ever, which energized us all. From kite flying to kayaking, from the traditional Sadya to the ancient Kalaripayattu, to the amazing and painstaking efforts of the Kathakali and the team performing for us. We had it all here.

I would recommend it to all those who want to immerse themselves in this amazingly clean and beautiful place, which offers you a chance to slow down and look around !!

One thing is certain on the day of your check out , you would feel you should have stayed for an extra day !! <3 !!

HI, I would say it is very safe for single females. Kerala is an extremely friendly an respectful place. The beach can be reach without a canoe, it would be about 20 mins walk, however the villa does supply bicyles free of charge and this is the best approach about 5 mins for one beach and 15 for the next, both beaches are very nice. It depends what you mean by main town, I guess the nearest would be Allepey and its about 20 mins by tuk tuk, which the villa can arrange, very cheap! I cannot recall about tea and coffee makers, I think it does, yes towels and basin soap is provided, not shampoo. You will have a brilliant time there. Hope this helps Jez
