The bungalows are very dirty, noisy surroundings, the breakfast was low quality. All facilities urgently would need improving/renovation. Staff is mainly impolite and poor informed. Poor Service Quality. View good but not worth the money.

We stayed 1 night here arriving in the evening and stayed in the River View Bungalow. The room was on the smaller side so if you have a heap of baggage it would be a problem. For us it was fine though. The room and bathroom was clean and had a small mini bar. Breakfast included in my stay was simple but nice. 5-10 minutes drive down the road is the point of the "Golden Triangle" where Thailand, Lao and Myanmar all meet separared by the Mekong River.

What I will remember about this place is the astonishingly bad attitude and resultant 'service' in their restaurant; First met with cold looks when I said hello in Thai, which I speak well enough, then they obviously didn't want to serve me at the table, so I had to go to the service table to order, again in Thai, they all looked bored and dismissive and clearly didn't want to see any customers

I have been to this hotel twice, with different services provided and rude staff member. During the first time, there’s complimentary coffee, toothbrush and toothpaste. However the second time, there’s no toothbrush and toothpaste at all! I went to the front desk, and the guy argued that I was wrong and doubted my credibility, in a rude manner. I remembered so clearly that I had the these essentials the first time as I was commenting about the hard toothbrush. I never once brought my personal toothbrush to hotels before and I swear I did not bring it as well for the first visit. And after hearing me, he told me I have to buy the toothbrush, which is really ridiculous. They are really inadequate and the service is appalling. Also, I have talked to locals about the incident where it’s managers taunting the customers, and it is true. It was quite a big thing as police was involved and caused quite a bad reputation among its locals. Would not recommend, please find other places. 👎🏻

When our family with 3 kids arrived to find no water in the pool during the hottest part of the thai year we were pretty disappointed. We asked for our money back as we wanted to stay in a place with a pool. The manager said we would have to contact agoda for a refund and refused to give us our money back. I then made an comment to a family member that contained a fairly mild swear word and the manager flew into a rage and started screaming at us. Our 5 year old started screaming (the other 2 kids fled) she was so scared and we asked him repeatedly to stop screaming and he just go more and more agressive. We headed to the car to get the kids out of the way and he followed us and continued verbally abusing us. He would get so close to my face i thought he was going to hit me. We called the police. The owner came out and she said ‘go!’. The 5 year old cried hysterically for about an hour after we left and said before bed ‘i never want to see that bad man again’. Such a shame as the people of Thailand are usually such friendly people. Still waiting on Agoda for a refund. Moved elsewhere with a pool and what a delightful stay.

An easy 1 km walk from town on the road to the Golden Triangle, the Mekong View 's 30+ rooms are set off the road and down the gently sloping hillside. The grounds are lovely and well maintained with a good-sized pool, a gazebo and places to sit out. The restaurant and coffee shop have inside and terrace seating which is where the complimentary breakfast buffet is served. . .nothing lavish, but eggs, fruit, toast are available. We ordered coffee from the cafe which was very good. Our room was clean, large, fridge with mini bar, kettle, pool and partial river view from the room's terrace. Highly recommend eating in town at the night market. The staff at Mekong View was friendly and helpful. There are also portions of the old wall and mound nearby. Songthaews go up and down the road about every half hour. . .a nice way to get to the Golden Triangle. We paid $31 thru Booking.com. I hope they consider supplying a,source for travelers to refill water bottles.

The rooms, pool, grounds at this hotel are nice enough. The young lady who greeted us was polite and efficient. What lets it down is the truly atrocious 'breakfast' which is offered at the adjoining restaurant. If you are going to offer breakfast, then make an effort to serve good food. Instead, you get this...cold fried eggs which have been sitting in a metal container for ages. Toast made with cheap convenience store bread. A disgusting mushy cold porridge. Coffee is instant coffee. Very little fruit in a country which has some of the most plentiful and cheapest fruit in Asia! Service is non—existent and poor. The waiting staff need training. Their lack of English isn’t really a problem. How difficult would it be to smile, show some consideration for guests and learn how to cook some fresh eggs? An incredibly depressing and unappetizing scene to be greeted with as one comes down for breakfast. Below my room I could see what the cleaners and laundry ladies were having for breakfast...it looked delicious and far more appetizing than what the guests received! And this isn’t a cheap hotel…it’s a solid mid-range place with very pleasant facilities. The owner enjoys talking about his travel experiences, so he knows what international guests aspect. OK, this is a quiet town with a modest number of foreign visitors, but this was a very poor show and shows lack of respect for guests. Furthermore, there is no complimentary tea or coffee provided in guest rooms, even though there are cups and a kettle provided! This is a service which is expected in hotels worldwide. It costs very little for hosts to provide this service yet it reaps rewards in goodwill from guests. No brainer. Wi-fi is unreliable. Very little soundproofing between rooms. TV has no English-language channels. The reason for these problems is clear...the management doesn't care, because other guests have already mentioned these problems on this web site.

This hotel is the perfect place in Chiang Saen as you are on the banks of the Mekong river and you can see the sunset and sunrise every day. The garden allows you to relax and enjoy this wonderful view, which is the main reason why you should come to Chiang Saen ( as well as visiting the old walled city ). They have a swimming-pool and a lovely sala to appreciate the calm in the mornings and evenings. The staff were very welcoming, spoke great English and we could have a room on the first floor, which is definitely the best place to be as there is a balcony with chairs and a table. What more do you want to enjoy the beauty of the Mekong river? The room was very spacious, modern with a TV ( only Thai channels, no big deal as the Mekong view is the best programme ), air con and a very nice bathroom. Lovely typical waxed concrete walls, beautifully arranged without any paintings on the wall, which make it far more classy. For a 1,000 baht a night, it is a super deal and we stayed 2 nights. The breakfast is included, nothing spectacular but absolutely fine. The soup was excellent and so were the noodles. The restaurant has a lovely view over the Mekong of course and the Keng Kio Wan ( green curry with chicken ) was divine, creamy and very tasty. You do not speak Thai to order food ? no problem as the menu has very good photos for each dish, All in all, a superb place I am looking forward to being back.

Excellent location on the river. Room quite large and comfortable with air con. Good bathroom with hot water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would not recommend the restaurant because the food was not particularly good and rather expensive. Would recommend the hotel as great value for money.

A very laid-back place, beautifully overlooking the Mekong River towards Lao. I was lucky and had a good room giving me a great view of the river. Not all rooms have that same wonderful view but nevertheless they are all very nice. The rooms are serviced daily to an extremely high standard, clean linen and towels and two water bottles daily per room. I just love the place and very good value. I skip breakfast, pretty basic. Get a nice breakfast for a fiver a kilometer down towards town at a lovely cafe on the right hand side. Don't let this put you off staying, it's just a matter of trade offs, the place is really great. There are steps to negotiate so if you're not so good on your feet and getting on a bit it's perhaps not quite your scene. The charm of this town is there are few tourists and so it's advisable to learn a little of the local language. The hotel is no exception. Really laid back🙏
