The hotel is very new, with a strong Italian influence in the decor in its lobby and rooms. It is very strategically located near the just opened SM mall in the City, it's a 5 minute walk from the hotel!

The rooms are a bit on the expensive side - we got a family room of 2 double beds that easily accommodates 4 people, but the rooms are quite small, there is little moving space for that many people. The bathroom continues the Mediterranean theme with warm red tiles and gold taps, stone sinks, but the shower has no door that will protect the rest of the floor from splashes, so it's a bit messy.

The rooms come with free breakfast which is okay, nothing impressive, although they have a good Italian menu (make your own pizza, pasta, meat dishes) that looks delicious, though we haven't ordered any (we chose to eat in the food court of the SM mall).

Overall, it is a good hotel - service is fast and efficient and the kitchen staff are accommodating enough to store the fresh fish we bought in their freezer, and even helped us pack it for our return trip back to Davao City.

Can recommend this, especially if the other accommodations in GenSan have already been filled up.

Cost is quite affordable and worth the service and accommodation, quite big rooms, friendly staff and comfortable beda. However they don't have a lift for PWD, SC, Pregnant Women etc. I got pity to the bellboy who carried my 45kg luggage. Wifi is not accessible inside the room.

Great prices all around, Room and food were nice and reasonable. The staff was nice. The rooms were fine. I'll stay here again next visit. Only thing I would like to see is better furniture to sit on up on the big balcony instead of just the marble table and stools.

This hotel is not a five star bit if you have a big family and want to live close to everything in gensan, then this is the great place to stay. We were 5 people in the suite and we have all we need. The breakfast is great like any european dishes. I noticed several foreigners in this hotel mainly chinese and maybe europeans. Perfect value for your money.

Just visited last week. This hotel is very centrally located, close to SM City General Santos and other major malls. The room was OK, European design and cool air conditioning. It was pretty pleasant. Airport pick up on time. Very lovey and cute staff. The best thing that this hotel has going for it is the location- it really can't be beat. I always go here every time I visited General Santos. Perfect for first time travelers as they have tourist information center that help you go around the city and nearby landmarks.

if there's a place in Gensan that I would love to stay it would be Hotel San Marco. Not for anything else but for it's ambiance and cleanliness. The rooms are ranging from 1640/ night with free breakfast. There are also budget rooms in Morocco rooms ranging from 800+ and above.

Staff are polite and caring to their guests. From SM Gensan it's either you take a walk or ride a tricycle for only P8.00.

They have website www.hotelsanmarco.com.ph . I suggest you book ahead of time because most of the time they are fully booked.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks. The staff there was excellent and extremely helpful. Being an American, there were many little things I did not know about which the staff assisted me with, Here in America, our cellphones do not use SIM cards for example. The staff assisted me in getting a good SIM card for an inexpensive mobile phone I acquired and they helped me get it installed and running. This was a big help to me. They also gave me good advice on places to travel to and advised me on many other matters. I made many friends with the fine staff at the hotel. The rooms are very clean and nice. The air conditioning worked well, and the price was very reasonable. The food at the hotel was spectacular and I ate there often. Being an American, I was concerned about drinking the water there. The hotel provides bottled water in the mini fridge in each room but also, if you ask they will fill a pitcher for you with water purified by their alkaline purifier. Considering the heat of General Santos, it is recommended to drink alot of water and this was a wonderful plus. Being centrally located also was a big help. One can go to pretty much anywhere in Gensan by taxi or tricycle and most all the drivers seem to know how to get you to the San Marco if you are out in Lagao or another place. The hotel staff assists with calling taxis and wake up calls and so many other ways. The laundry service is inexpensive and very good. One of the BIGGEST reasons I chose this hotel also is that it provides small room safes for those guests who ask or them. This means you can lock up your passport, money and other key valuables right in your room. This gives you piece of mind as you travel around the city. If you want to feel safe and secure.. I recommend the San Marco! Overall its a fantastic hotel for the money and the staff working there are spectacular.

I guess I lucked out this time as it wasn't very busy during my stay. I arrived later in the evening due a delayed flight. Check in was quick and pleasant. I was given a room on the third floor. I had to take the stairs as this four storey building does not have an elevator. The hotel is an older property but is clean and well kept. My room was tastefully furnished. There was a flat screen TV with lots of cable channels. There was also a minibar and a writing table and an armchair. The room had adequate lighting and the airconditioner quickly cooled it down. The bed was comfortable enough but only came with two pillows. The bed was just covered by a double set of sheets with no blanket in between the two sheets. The closet had two drawers but had no doors so you just hung your clothes on two bars. There weren't enough hangers so I requested for some which were promptly delivered. I also noticed that there was only one set of towels in the bathroom (which is quite strange as most hotels would have two sets even if it was a single occupancy). The bathroom had this glass partition that separated the sink from the shower stall. It made for a very wet bathroom every time I took a shower. It was also rather dimly lit with only one ceiling light and no light above the mirror by the sink - this made it difficult to shave. The linens and towels are beginning to show their age. Breakfast was adequate with a few choices. There is a karaoke bar beside the hotel so the rooms closer to that side had to deal with the late night singing. The kind, helpful and friendly staff made up for the the minor inconveniences. I would stay here again.

Pros: Location
Cons:
1. No Elevator
2. Your room card key is only valid up to 11 AM or earlier. When you're out and get back past 11AM to fix your stuff prior to checking out, you're doomed to go back down to get your card updated so you can open your room and get your things.
3. You will pay P1,980 with supposed to be having compli (actually PAID) plated breakfast for two, but the café will tell you that their records show only one person.
4. Despite telling the front desk officers on duty to make up your room when you're out, but when you get back past 2PM, the room is still not made up.
5. You don't get towels replenished that quick when the room is made up. Maybe they only have 1 set waiting for it to be laundered and dried.
6. Poor sheets. Not even a comforter.
7. Your bathroom will be a mess after you take a shower because there's no shower door

The thing we like the most about Hotel San Marco is its central location. Almost everything is just a short tricycle ride away. It's just few minutes away from shopping and dining establishments such as SM City GenSan and Veranza Mall. If you need to take a trip to nearby towns, the Bulaong Bus Terminal and the KCC van terminal are very accessible from the hotel.

The clean and comfortable beds are also a welcoming treat after a day of business or exploration. The warm lights and the elegant interiors add to the relaxing stay. Water pressure inside each room's private shower room is excellent. Towels are clean and fresh.

It is also worth mentining that hotel staff provides superb customer service. We felt the personal and welcoming touch everytime we would enter the hotel lobby. The room rate already includes breakfast and the hotel offers a wide range of choices of Filipino and western cuisine.

We will defnitely stay again at Hotel San Marco in our future trips to General Santos City.
