Detailed Reviews

Somehow a good value for backpackers, without hurting the wallet. (P250 per bed) However, I spotted that there are also other hostels in the area with the same price (or lower) and closer to the city center.
Bit far from the business district and local market (Cogon Market). It's is located 1.5 km away from Golden Friendship Park (aka Divisoria Park). However, transportation is not difficult, you can catch a tricycle (Trela) that will get you to the city center.
For security, the gate is always close and has a security guard during the night. However, they don't have a locker where you can store you valuables. They only have one dormitory room with 16 beds located in the Penthouse with only one small bathroom. Bunk beds are basic. I was the only one in the room that night, creepy but can't imagine if the room were full too, I won't be staying there for long! There's no water in the bathroom. I went to the lower floor to use the the other bathroom.
The room is surrounded by windows, I think it was originally a function room that was converted into a Dormitory. The sunlight will definitely wake you up in the morning if you don't have your sleeping eye patch on.
My major complain is the customer service. The receptionist was not accommodating. She don't know anything about the attractions in the area. So, if you ask her about the direction on how to get to specific attraction like Malasag Eco-Tourism Village, it seems like it was the first time she heard about the place. They also charge for the towel but I never as for how much as I brought my own. If you ask for a glass or a cup of hot water, they will charge you P20. That's too cost!

I am constant traveler as what my friends described me. I have travelled a lot and this year, I am exploring my own country – Philippines. A friend referred me to a hotel named CASA MARGA in Cagayan de Oro. I am not particular with the standards of our local hotels because what I am after is to see Landmarks and historical places in the country. I’ve been to Ilo-Ilo, Davao and Cebu lately. The accommodations I had on those places where good. But not as good as Casa Marga. I mean, in Casa Marga, it’s great. I found their facilities inspired by Japanese theme. The room’s furniture and facilities were properly arranged like what Japanese do, space was maximized and organized. I’ve been to Japan last year and I could compare Casa Marga’s facilities to the hotel I had stayed when I was in Japan. Thank you as well to their staff, they are polite and courteous. Excellent customer service. They have helped me a lot with directions and especially in riding “motorela”. It was fun! To add my Traveller’s Lessons Learned: We can gain friends through people with great smiles.

I'm new at CdeO. It’s my first time in the City. I was just here because of the LET Examination. I find it hard at first to be a stranger of the place... But when my Review Center was able to send us to Casa Marga which I believed just located within the heart of the City, I felt at ease. I remembered we were so hungry from the long trip and at 2 o’clock I haven’t taken my lunch. But when we arrived at Casa Marga, the staffs are so friendly and what amazed me was that we were given a welcome snickers chocolate. Honestly, if not because of that chocolate, I would have fainted... On the 2nd day, it was a challenge for me to look for the location of the school where I will be taking exams – West City Central School (Carmen). I was given allowance by my parents but if the directions given to me by their staff are not clear, it would have been wasted in riding a taxi like my other examinees did because their afraid to asked. And most probably a waste of time and energy. I was able to enjoy the rest of the going to the famous Divine Mercy Shrine and after that returned back to Casa Marga to do a self review. Again, I felt that management of Casa Marga was reading my mind because as I entered my room, I found a Coke on the table with a message “Enjoy your stay in Casa Marga!”. I had experienced services of other standard hotels but in Casa Marga, I felt like I am just at home with my family. Thank you Casa Marga! More Power!
