My wife and I stayed there for a few days and really enjoyed ourselves. We found Harbor Lights to be peaceful and quite with a nice romantic touch thanks to the sea side location.
We both agree that the food was always better than we expected with breakfast being the highlight for us all 3 of the days we were there. The food was definitely consistently good and reasonably priced too.
The locations is a bit out of the way… kind of hidden really, but close enough to the main road to catch a Jeepney to wherever you are going.
Our room was adequate and clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a small instant hot water tank that I really appreciated. Not that you need it but it was nice to have a nice hot shower when the mood hit. Word to the wise though, bring your own toilet paper! The quality of the stuff they have available is nothing like I ever experienced! It didn’t matter how many folds you made or how much you used; the stuff would disintegrate on contact. The front desk had a good laugh when we commented about the poor sturdiness of the toilet paper then they provided us with 4 more rolls. I’m pretty sure it would have taken twice that amount to make us happy. Once we bought our own … well, all was right with the world again.
The room like the rest of the building was in dire need of a fresh coat of paint. Don’t get me wrong the place is well manicured and serene but everywhere I looked was dingy… not dirty just kind of drab. The décor of the common areas was pleasing otherwise. Free internet is available but only in the lobby and then the speed is nothing to write home about.
We found the staff helpful and friendly… in no time at all we made friends with the Front desk officer by the name of Bobby. Nice fellow with great patience who answered all of our typical foreigner questions which in hind sight I wish we had never asked. We liked Bobby; he struck as a kind hearted man with an ultra relaxed attitude and while speaking with him one could not help but think there is absolutely nothing that can upset this guy.
Overall we had a nice stay and I think you will too.
Despite all these negatives, we love the hotel: swimming pool, large open area around the pool, large, secure car park, and wonderful harbor view. Give it a try.

It really doesn't matter to me if the hotel is a bit dated so long as it has functional room facilities. But this hotel allowed us to occupy their prime room with broken shower knob, non functional water heater, low pressure shower and more rundowns. Carpet needs to be replaced as it smells awful.
My only consolation is the morning breeze that Macajalar Bay offers - so refreshing to feel the wind runs through my hair
There are some minor draw-backs in the hotel, such as the breakfast choices, wifi connection or the distracted view to the sea. We took 3 rooms. they fulfill the purpose but not more. I requested an iron board - not available. Room service overpriced, prior requests in regards of room set-up not been taken care of, noisy air conditioning. Nevertheless, all in all a great experience, even though the service could be more attentive.
Thank you Kuya Bobong, Amy and Team for everything. i will keep you all in best memories!
Examples:
1. The free internet access is often out of service.
2. The beef tapa has been taken off the complimentary breakfast menu leaving fried bangus (small and dry), chicken adobo (mostly bones and sinews), and langanista (ok, how many days in a row can you eat sweet sausage?)
3. When cleaning the rooms, the door is left open. Guess what? LOTS of mosquitos in the rooms (ask them to spray).
4. Chronically some lamp or light or electric socket does not work - and the room cleaners never check.
5. In many rooms there is the smell of untreated sewage in the showers.
6. The air conditioners are VERY loud. This can be an advantage since they can drown out the weddings and disco music that booms in the open area on some days.
The view has been largely ruined by the bypass road to the port. Still nice if you stand. But the area stinks at low tides - nothing the hotel can do about this except try to get the city to put fill between the hotel and the road.
All in all: we will come back. But others beware.

We rented a room for the night because we're not from CdeO. We had a spacious carpeted room, we were able to add two more beds for 200php each. Towels, soap, shampoo is provided for each guest. TV, Hot/cold shower, mirrors available. There's even a small refrigerator in the room. But the room was dusty. I had to ask the frontdesk for the keys to the windows so I could open it and air it out. Oh, ac was filthy. But didn't bother having them clean it. We were tired.
No problem with complimentary breakfast - it's satisfying. But the food/snacks/drinks they have available are pricey. No problem with staff - accommodating (and they wear colorful/floral shirts). They have a well-maintained swimming pool. You can use it from 8a-10p. Oh! Wifi in the lobby, hallways and ballroon. Hardly any wifi signal that reached our room.
Location is ok. I forgot the fare from the hotel to Limketkai Shopping Center. I think 100Php...or less.
It is situated beside the sea and could have offered a view of the horizon from all hotel rooms and the restaurant but is now blocked by a coastal road project in between the sea and the hotel itself.
The restaurant still serves good food though it took about 45 minutes to serve our order. We ordered typical Filipino fare-sizzling squid, chop suey, sinigang na tangigue, beef tenderloin with onions All tasted good.
The room assigned to us was tidy and air conditioned. It had cable tv- picture tube type and quite difficult to operate especially if you're used to LED or flat screen. There was a refrigerator- which was not used. No complimentary drinking water. Soap, shampoo and towel were provided. The bathroom had a water heater. The bed was ok. I had a good sleep.
Over all the hotel is already old but is good enough to serve its purpose. A little "facelift" would help keeping up with newer hotels.
"Perhaps the suite room could have been wider and quieter."Read full review
