It’s so comfortable and cozy plus the calm sound of the sea-waves so peacefully refreshing. We love it! very ideal for Holidaying out of the buzzing city life. The staff are friendly. Breakfast is ideally good as well. Grab taxis were available from city center.

I visit this place a lot even before the renovations and additions of the cafe and the playa vista. Staffs are really attentive and the food is bomb! If you are looking for a place to have a peace of mind and good food, this is one of the best place in Cagayan de Oro.

TLC all the way. The food was exquisite and the service was phenomenal. Perfect for family or intimate gatherings. Went here with the love of my life and had an amazing dinner. Plus, most of the tables are by the sea. We highly recommend to get the citrus herb drink.

My husband and I stayed there for a total of 7 days. Our room for the first 5 days was in Villa 1. This faces the beach and view was beautiful. The room was spacious but the bathroom was really outdated. It needs a lot of TLC. Our 6th night , ( we checked out on the 5th and went to Dahilayan) we got Villa #3 and although the bathroom this time was ok, the Villa is underneath a tree on which, fruits drop off every 12/20 minutes nonstop and you can hear it so basically no sleep. We got moved the next day to Cabana Rojo. The cabanas are newer so overall it was great..
The food at the restaurant were great. The Buko halo was yummy.
The staff, ah yes the staff. They’re the ones that makes this resort fantastic. From Kuya Kits, Marco, Johnston, BJ, Mark, Vince, Jay and I’m sure I forgot some. They took good care of us everyday. From my morning coffee till dinner time. Thank you for everything…
Overall, I would definitely stay here again.I’d rather stay here and feel the hospitality and warmth from the staff and look at the ocean than stay in a 4 walled luxury hotel that faces the malls….

My children and I stayed in Chali Beach Resort expecting for a proper beach. Sad to say, the beach was ugly and not at all sandy. Talk about rocks and whatever else. So, we decided to hang around the pool area, only to find out again that the pool is pretty deep for young children. Alternatively, they have a playground, but my young ones were not really happy because the pool is not for children.
The Cabana we stayed in was good. In Cagayan de Oro standards, I can say that the furnishing is better in Chali. Water pressure was ok, but the toiletries fall short as they only provided one tiny soap for us, and I had to request for more. Aircondition was ok but the reception of the cable television was spotty.
One of the redeeming quality of Chali for me is their wifi connection. I managed to get a stable connection from my veranda, but the mosquitoes ate me up as well. I went and bought a repellent from the front desk which made working in the veranda bearable. They also sent us a huge platter of fresh fruits upon check in. The slices of mangoes, papaya, pineapple and watermelon was good.
Food quality was good, except that the bar was non-existent. I asked for a regular margarita and was informed that it was not available, so I settled for regular coke. In terms of value for money, the cost of food was pretty steep in their restaurant. I ended up paying more on food than the cabana we stayed in.
To liven up our dining experience, I had requested from the restaurant for us to have breakfast at the bahay kubo overlooking the bay. It was fantastic and the kids had a blast.

It was my first time visiting this resort when I attended a Christmas party of Tagoloan LGU and its employees. The conference center is so wide that can cater more or less 1,000 people and it only takes 5-minute travel from the city proper of Cagayan de Oro.

The rooms at the old hotel wing were large but in need of renovation. There was obvious termite damage within the cabinets. The housekeeping section should pay attention to cleaning the rooms in between check-ins and assure that the toilets are not clogged. I had to constantly ask for extra toilet paper since there was only one roll of two-ply toilet paper in the bathroom. An extra towel rack and some clothes hooks within the bathroom are needed. The beds were no longer firm but I had a better night’s sleep in an extra trundle bed provided on the second night.
The rooms at the cabanas are newer but smaller. Again, the bathroom didn’t have a towel rack or hook. The shower lacked a knob for directing the flow of water from the faucet to the showerhead. There were lots of mosquitoes in the garden so there was no way to prevent them from entering the cabanas. An electric bug zapper in front of each cabana would have helped.
In spite of these problems, in terms of value for money, the resort is worth the price charged. The garden is lovely. There were birds (Chestnut munia) and butterflies flying around at daytime. The pool was very inviting but in the two evenings that I planned to swim, there were weddings so the area was closed off. Perhaps a separate pool area should be constructed for functions so residents can enjoy the facilities as well.
I would have wanted to stay at the newly renovated courtyard area but the rooms were fully booked. I appreciate the use of traditional Cagayan pottery as décor at the reception pavilion and at the ground floor of the hotel wing. Two pottery makers can be found in the Bulua area (Glema and Keramos) around 20 minutes’ drive from the resort. Worth buying (but difficult to transport in a plane) are stoneware teapots and decorative coconuts that are lead-free.
Although there is a spa within the resort, one has to schedule a massage ahead of time. A one-hour session costs 600 pesos.
The restaurant within the resort served traditional Filipino fare that was quite good. I preferred to dine at the resort than in the city’s restaurants because the service was much faster and the food was comparable in taste and price. The sinigang (sour fish soup) and halaan soup (clam soup) are worth ordering. The kinilaw (ceviche) was soured with a local fruit called tabon-tabon (Atuna racemosa ) and a lime (suwa) that smelled like kaffir lime. The effort to incorporate local produce in the menu is commendable. Although there is a traditional Filipino breakfast in the menu, it would have been nice to have rice cakes (puto) leavened with coconut toddy (tuba) or corn cakes in the morning.
Perhaps a change in name of the resort is in order because there is a cement wharf at the back without a beachfront. The proximity of the property to the sea, however, lends cool breezes throughout the day that are welcome after a day in the dusty city.
If you have a limited budget, the Chali Beach Resort is worth looking into (1650 for an old room for 2). If you want to spend a little more than double the amount, the Courtyard area would be great. I will be back, but I will bring my own three-ply toilet paper.
