Booked two family room and city tour with the hostel via Agoda & have multiple email confirmations.The point person didn’t handover the information,so it was a bit confusing upon arrival. The tour was okay, a bit pricey though but since we have the van to ourselves and the driver was pretty nice it was acceptable. Php1400 (6pax) . After the tour the tour, the front desk gave us the wrong room. When they found out, they try to put us in this mold smelling room. When I told them about it, they wanted to put air purifier in the room so it wouldn’t smell. Had to tell them dozens of time that it was acceptable before they changed us into a new room. To be fair, the staffs were nice and polite, however, they weren’t properly trained. The information wasn’t handover... as a result, we had to go over the same conversation over and over. Personally, I wouldn’t go back to this place again. With this price you can probably stay in a much more comfortable and well trained hotel as a group. …

I booked this hostel for my family for Peñafrancia since there were no hotel, hostels & airbnb available in Legazpi. My sister said that family room is small for 4pax adult but hostel is acceptable, clean & w/ parking. But ensure that you know what are the inclusions in the booking and have the confirmation on hand. At 1st they told my sister that there was no bfast included and that only P400 was paid for total the booking. So I resend the confirmation encircling the "w/ bfast" & "paid" word. Told her to tell the property to coordinate with Agoda regarding the payment. After which everything was ok.

The hostel has parking space and the people here are accommodating. Guests are allowed to cook in the kitchen which also has water dispenser. I noticed many foreigners stay here. The room has individual lockers. A friend recommended us to stay here because they serve different rice meals for breakfast but during our stay, we had egg and pandesal for 2 consecutive days. Internet connection is only available in the common area, very slow inside the room.

Lets start positive. The hostel has a big kitchen, a small rooftop area and they serve breakfast. The matrasses were way too thin and in the dorm room (4 bed, fan) it smelled of wet dog, which was a let down. I stayed here just one night, which was more than enough.

A nice relatively quiet area with a good roof deck view of Mount mayon. The rooms were clean, beds are comfortable and shower worked well. There's not much in the immediate area so if you don't want to travel into town 10-15mins bring snacks or food before heading there. Overall great stay.

Mayon Backpacker Hotel - the only accommodation that gave me and my family a really bad experience as frequent travelers. We were stranded in Manila and requested for either 50% refund or reschedule since we couldn’t make it in time. The heartless hotel management made our travel in Albay an unforgettable travails. The booking staff seemed to be clueless about customer service. I’m never booking with them. Ever.

At first, I had to argue with the receptionist because he is trying to give me a room which was different to the one I booked thru Agoda. Finally after few minutes, he gave me the room I actually booked which was an ac room for female only (though I was the only one who occupied the room). The place was overall organized and clean. It was not situated along the main road but is just walking distance to the "rotonda"/capitol where all jeeps going around Albay pass. The breakfast was nice, and actuallly impressive despite the cheap rates of the hostel. The staffs were nice and very helpful. Will definitely come back

1. Near to everything... 2. Clean spacious rooms. 3. friendly and accomodating staff. 4. Strong power and water pressure. 5. Quiet and peaceful. 6. Breakfast comes with the accomodation. 7. Wi fi is in the lobby. 8. Parking was not an issue although parking infront of the hostel is not possible... If asked to stay at the same hostel in the future...Would still do!!

The place is just so near to Cagsawa ruins. You can even see Mayon here. You can also do an atv adventure nearby. This is a good place to stay. Also, their rooms are clean and well maintained. Amazing!
