In the Bicolano language, "Balay" means house, and we strive to be just that, your home away from home but with the backyard view of Mayon Volcano, to add a bit of spice to it. Balay de la Rama is a six-room family house, with six spacious rooms available for short-term homestay. Like any provincial home, it has big windows to promote natural ventilation, and indeed, the gentle, or sometimes stalwart breezes are enough to lull you to sleep as you take your afternoon siesta by the wooden sofa, or better yet, on the hammock by the balcony. If by any chance it is summer, and the mango tree is in full bloom, you can spend afternoons picking mango, or if that is too much effort, you can wait for them to fall, so you can eat them with hot bagoong (shrimp paste). If you’d rather read than be hit by falling mangoes, then the owner’s personal collections are free for you to browse. Come dinnertime, you can join the family meal to sample that spicy Bicolano cooking, such as "pinangat," or "ginantaang gulay," or you can request for that poor man’s fare, such as tinapa (smoked fish) or "tuyo" (salted fish), if you suddenly crave for them. We won't force you to eat "balut" (fertilized duck egg), but would love to see your priceless expression as you try. If you came to Bicol to see moody, fiery Mayon, all you need to do is cast a sideways glance by the window, and there it is. But we know you may want to swim with the whale sharks in Donsol, wakeboard in CWC or island-hop in Caramoan, then this is a great jump-off point with easy access to all kinds of transport to your destination. The land at which Balay de la Rama stands has been with the dela Rama family for more than a century. While Balay itself isn't ancient, the warm family spirit and hospitality is. Your Bicolana host is herself an avid backpacker, but knows that indeed, there is no place like home.

Thank you Karen for a very warm welcome in your B&B. It was a very late reservation and we arrived at very unusual time and yet you welcomed us like your family, that alone we feel so blessed. We enjoyed the Mayon and nearby places, it's a real great experienced to be in your town. Just a little suggestion, I hope you will have more list of where to go places; till next time . Highly recommemded and will keep this for future stay.

We stayed here for a few days and I highly recommend it for anyone planning a trip to the area. The rooms are comfortable and tidy, there are also spectacular views of the volcano. The staff running the place are also so friendly, and there's a good breakfast available as well with a choice of western or Filipino style. You should definitely stay in this place if you're coming to Legazpi!

Thank you Karen for a wonderful Legazpi experience. We loved staying in your B&B. Clean, central location to attractions, simple, very clean, safe and we feel well-looked after. We used their own tour, Ian our tour guide is 5*. Thank you for taking us and enjoy the Mayon sunset and the beautiful yet challenging drive to Quitinday Hills. Its so worth it. We love the pandesal next door. Feels like staying with a family... Till next time!

*Location and rooms Conveniently located near the major tourist destinations of the city. The rooms were classic and spacious, the interior will make you feel at home. Toiletries like shampoo, hand wash and body wash were provided, equipped with cabled TV and Wife. Also, a view of Mayon Volcano at the balcony. The owner, Ms. Caren was very accommodating and kind. *Food There's a breakfast so there's no need to worry of what to eat every morning. It was a delicious meal with paired with fresh fruits. Choices were the typical breakfast, (Tocino, Longganisa, Corned Beef, Hotdog). You will decide to drink coffee, tea or choco. Garden view can also be seen from the dining area. Parking is only limited to two (2) vehicles. [in case you're planning to bring]. I informed them that I will bring one to make sure for a garage spot. 😊 The overall experience was satisfying. 👍🏻You'll get more than what you've paid for. Rooms for improvement: - water pressure of shower. - maybe during peak hours only. - temperature of ac from our other room

This Bed & Breakfast is located near a very busy road but once you go inside the property you get the feeling that you are in your own home and the noise outside became unnoticeable. We were assigned the room downstairs with private access, wide window and small unfurnished kitchen. The room was near a simple garden and mango tree. The room is old but neat and spacious that it could accommodate 2 extra mattress. This is by far the best place to stay if you are on a budget and planning to tour the main attractions as it is so close to everything and public transport is easily accessible. The breakfast served is simple. The hosts were nice. I will definitely stay in this Bed & Breakfast again.

The host Karen is very nice and friendly. Always available and making sure you are getting everything you need. She also helped us with tips about transport (normal prices for tricycles and jeepneys and which we needed to take). Rooms are clean and we had a balcony with view on Mayon volcano. Room was also clean.

We checked in here few years back when the balay is almost new. The room they gave us smells paint so we asked if they have another room. Luckily the largest room below the house is free! They transferred us there without additional charge. :) The location is good as well. There are plenty of tricycles you can hire outside the balay. Breakfast served is good. Clean, spacious rooms. For the price we paid, everything's good! You may just not notice the balay outside.. :D

We stayed here on our anniversary, six months before the recent very active phase of the volcano. de la Rama is perfect if you want a quiet place to stay with excellent access to the sights around Legazpi. The hotel is great value for the money, amazing breakfasts culturally to order, with beautiful views of Mt. Mayon. We had the benefit of using two different rooms, as the hotel needed to accommodate other guests, with our permission. Downstairs was quiet with an eccentric, beautiful garden. Upstairs has the view of the volcano. In the middle is the reception with the always helpful proprietor. Due take a chance to visit the ruins of Cagsawa and take a romantic ride on the rafts of Sumlang Lake, with *the* best views of the volcano. I do hope the hotel and lake are still here once the volcano quiets down again.
