My friends and I dont mind how the rooms looks like (well, it aint cozy as other hotels are) as long as we have somewhere place to sleep and drink! :>
pros
- along the road
- secure parking
- nice personnel, easy to deal with them
- really cheap compare to other hotel with view of the lake
cons
- very basic amenities, check the shower first, the last time we visited we got a room where the water has a little pressure we can't use the shower
- weak/slow wi-fi signal
And I ask the front desk if is it really the room that I booked, and they said yes. OK. So i just asked if they have similar type and we wanted to transfer. They showed me first if I will like it. OK again. It is much better than the first one.
Pros: Taal View, free breakfast, along the highway
Cons: No hot shower (brace yourself while taking a bath or just washing), no slippers, intercon fone not functioning (maybe just a props), no aircon swinger (brrrrr!), at night there are a lot of insects that might enter into your room, sink faucet is broken, ants all over the room, not so good television, thin blanket
Pros:
1. No check in time. You can check in at any time of the day or night.
2. Cheap rooms (surprisingly they now offer 3 hrs and 6 hrs stay).
3. Good view of Taal Volcano from the rooms.
Cons:
1. Unclean. Too many bugs. Ants creeping on walls and doors. Small spiders in the bathroom.
2. The toilet bowl looks so unhygienic.
3. The sheets are stained and with a foul odor.
4. Cheap bed.
5. No mirror inside the room.
6. Room is super basic.
We reserved via Asia Travel weeks before; we had a scheduled dinner at Tagaytay and we no longer wanted to travel back to Manila. Hence, we booked here.
We chose this place because it is cheap. Considering we will only be staying for a couple of hours; we no longer want to spend much.
We have low expectations of the place. I am also a hotelier and I know with a price of Php 1.100 you don't expect to be greeted with complimentary drinks and be wowed by a well furnished 5 star-like room but we at least expected a decent one.
We arrived there late (since we had a scheduled dinner prior). There is a sign at the gate of the hotel that says its fully booked but we continued knowing of course that we have a reservation. Upon reaching the front desk, we were greeted by a rude male receptionist. And when I say rude I meant villain-like rude. I told him that I we have a reservation under the name of my companion. He started scrambling to his papers as if looking for our record. To help, I said "it's under Asia Travel". Not looking at me he answered "Yes I know. Can't you wait?" (in Filipino). This has taken me a back already but i decided not to respond. Not saying anything to us, he handed the keys and gestured one of the (I assumed) room attendants to our room.
Things got much worse when we arrived at our room. It is situated at the ground level right beside the highway not connected to the building where the other rooms are. The room looks like it shouldn't be there in the first place and that the management decided to squeeze it in there for additional revenue. Seeing it is a total heartbreak. from the outside it looks more like a gasoline station comfort room that an actual room.
Of course, we asked if we can be transferred to a different room but the rude receptionist told us it was the last room available. He even added up that we arrived late so that is what we get. (Geez, really rude!)
I wanted to back out and opt to travel back home but being the thrifty people that we are, we couldn't bear the fact of spending a thousand and not get anything from it. So we stayed.
As I mentioned a while ago, the room is located right beside the highway so just imagine the noise coming from all the passing cars. I was really tired from the long drive and I thought that would be enough for me to disregard all the noise and be able to sleep but I was wrong. Adding up to the dilemma was the bed that is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. The springs of the mattress felt like they wanted to jump out. Our backs were sore the following morning.
The bathroom was no good either. No hot water (this is a must considering we're in Tagaytay); we politely asked the receptionist if they can boil water for us and we were rudely declined and the toilet is clogged!!!!!
I really felt that we were given the worst room and we were shown the worst customer service ever and that is something a paying customer should never deserve! If we knew that this is the kind of service we will be getting, we should have opted to stay on inns or motels that would've probably cost us Php 500 or less.
This place does not deserve to be called a Hotel because it's hundred times worst than a motel.
When we entered the room, we felt like backing out. Hahaha! They have a marble flooring as well on the bathroom. We felt like we're inside a mausoleum. They don't even have a floor rug on the bathroom and on the doorstep. Most of the facilities are in need of a replacement. We didn't enjoy watchin tv because it also needs a replacement due to its color/tint. It cannot be changed even if we adjusted it. The remote control isn't working as well. Too bad.
The first thing I check on every room we're staying is the bathroom. And I really get disappointed and laughed sarcastically when I stepped in the bathroom. It wouldn't fit a foreigner, really. I am a petite person and didn't enjoy taking a bath on that bathroom because even I didn't fit in it. Too bad I failed to take pictures. I was adviced by my bf not to take a picture. Their sink is within the level of my legs. Imagine?! The flush of the toilet is not working properly, I became a plumber for a day.
When we decided to sleep, we just told ourselves that we won't be back there anymore. It costs us P1650 for the room plus the free breakfast for 2. Yes it's affordable but that's not what we expected as we're only paying P1,500 on the hotel we called "our second home" but we are getting the service we deserve, they provide us the service more than we paid for and more than we have expected. Charge to experience it is, I told my boyfriend. We won't refer this to our friends. It's like a nightmare.
