Detailed Reviews
We decided to stay overnight in Tagaytay for a friend's wedding. I scoured the internet to look for a cheap but excellent place where my husband and I could stay. That was when I chanced upon OMP.
When we arrived, the cleanliness and the beaut of the whole place exceeded my expectation. For just 1k for 2 persons with free breakfast, the price was definitely a steal!
We will definitely be back and we will opt for longer stay at OMP in Tagaytay.

My husband was not sold to the idea of a hostel. After finding out that all the rooms in OMP have no airconditioning, his apprehension in staying in this place built up even more, but I ought to give this place a try. I was so curious as to why it has better reviews compare to others with the same type of accommodation. Let me list ten reasons why.
1. Price - We paid Php 1,000 all-in for a private queen sized bed with a shared bathroom. This was ok since we had the t/b all for ourselves that day.
2. Cleanliness - squeaky clean! Bring slippers to use indoors.
3. Location - walking distance to most popular places like Leslie's, Starbucks, Mahogany Market, Bag of beans, etc.
4. The staff were friendly.
5. Comfortable beds, extra throw pillows and they provide fleece blankets with free wi-fi!!!
6. I love the smell of the room. Was it vanilla and lavender? I can't quite put my finger on it.
7.Secure parking lot.
8. Books, magazines and movies are available for use, even in the wee hours of the morning.
9. Breakfast was simple but we loved the different type of spreads. And varied beverages. I wish they could offer rice meals or soup such as Lomi in the future.
10.They offer an affordable trip to Taal Lake at Php 1,500. We'll try this next time.

I would like to recommend OMP to anyone who wants to stay in Tagaytay. It is close to the main road and very accessible to the public transport (Jeepney / Bus). Their staff is very hospitable and approachable.

Recommend this budget accommodation if you want a basic but comfortable starting point in exploring Tagaytay. Off the main road by few short blocks, OMP is a priests' lodging turned hostel. You can choose to book a room with either private or shared toilet. Beds and pillows are cozy for sleeping. Just an electric fan for appliance but enough because of the cool climate (open the windows for some good cold air). Wi-Fi is spotty so you may want to pre-upload some media on your device to keep you entertained. There is a TV at the living room though. A common room at the 2nd floor with a balcony if you want to hang out. The breakfast is simple but filling. The staff is warm and welcoming, and helpful if you have questions. On the main road you have access to a cache of restaurants and public transport to main attractions. For the price, convenience can't be beat. :)

Stayed for a night with friends. We reserved the Ensuite room with private t&b. The place is really quiet and we had a great night's rest. Everything is basic and simple. Bed, bedsheets and towels are clean. Bathroom floor is also clean. My friends and I decided to go back to this place, their staff are so friendly and the location is just a few meters walk to our favorite place Rowena's Cafe inside the Cliffhouse area and the Charito by Bag of Beans.
Location: Just across The Cliffhouse and the Lake. This is about 1-2 blocks away from Magallanes Drive. If you're coming from the Tagaytay jeepney terminal/Market, take any jeep going to Sky Ranch or will pass by the Cliffhouse. Tell driver to drop you off Maharlika St or in front of The Lake.
OMP (our Melting Pot) is tucked inside a quiet village/street of Maharlika. You'll have to walk a few meters from the main Highway to the Hostel. can be easily located because they are situated around the corner of the street - light blue color house.
Accommodation: We stayed in a room with private room. Double bed with an extra bed for 350. To be honest, we just slept on the double bed because it's huge enough for just 2. Towels are provided. No soap/toothpaste/shampoo but they provide tissue in the bathroom. Breakfast is included in the room rate - which is surprising because it's cheap enough as it is. Breakfast is better than any other backpacker's hostel I've been to (even hostels from other countries)- they offer bread, coffee and your choice of spread (peanut butter, cheese, coco jam) and oatmeal.
Price: Room with private bathroom is 1,050 and additional person for 350. Total of 1400 for 3 people so basically paid 470/per person (breakfast included) .
Staff: They are accommodating and friendly. They are also helpful in locating certain sights/restaurants in Tagaytay. Will help as much as they can. One of the reasons we want to go back here. :)
If you're a comfort traveller expecting a luxurious place to stay or if you don't like walking a lot, don't stay here. Your expectations should match the price you're paying. For a night stay with breakfast below 500, I think this is an awesome deal. :)

Me and my girlfriend arrived so late in the night. The staff named Mean was so eager to wait us until 1 am. she was helpful to get us in the place. She call us time to time if we already get in the place or we're already lost. The location is really close to some spots that you could check it out. The breakfast was served nicely. In total, the hostel feels very homely.

Although we travel as a couple and all 2 bed rooms were booked we shared a room with a few fellow travelers. When asked about the boat ride to lake Taal our hostel administrator introduced us with a fellow travelers in order to share the costs for boat.
Rooms are nice and cleen but for some reason you could only find one toilet with a toilet seat. I guess they just never sit down...
Breakfast is included and is very nice - you get some toasts with a large selection of jams.
Location might seam a bit off but it's just a few minute jeepny ride from "town" and the bus to Manila is just at the corner.
The town itself is very dull and even on a Friday night we couldn't find a nice party place

When we arrived the staff greeted us with their warm smiles. :) They were very friendly and accomodating. We felt welcome at once. Upon entering they ask us to leave our shoes on the front door. No wonder because everything is so clean, from the beds, toilets, pillows and the floors were spotless! I felt relaxed at once because of the pristine enviroment. And the breakfast was a bonus. I wasn't expecting any breakfast because of the cheap booking price, but fortunately there is. Just a simple continental breakfast of multiple spreads and just sandwiches and cereals. But still we enjoyed the food and made us full. Will definitely comeback to this place if ever we decide to visit Tagaytay again. :)

If you are going to Tagaytay, OMP Hostel is with out a doubt the place to stay for a budget traveller wanting cozy, clean and fair priced accommodation. The owner, Elvie, is super friendly, arranging tours and serving great breakfast. If I ever come back to Tagaytay I would love to stay at this great hostel again. Best recommendations.

1. Dirty super old towel and linens and bed sheet
2. Breakfast - old bread, old cereals served with hot powdered milk and you need to wash your dishes we forgot to wash a small saucer and the old lady who keep on sleeping in the hostel reception got angry and arrogant to us.
3. They told us complain that the washroom door beocme wet - we told them you need to pur rag in the washroom doorstep
3. The hostel closes at 10pm
4. Price is cheap at around 1,200 pesos per night but still there are many places in tagaytay that has the same rates for a hostel
5. The person in charge is not accommodating especially the old arrogant lady.
6. They should not use the reception area to sleep as somehow its a sore eye to the incoming guests upon entry in the vicinity.
