I was staying for two nights in Tagaytay for a bit of a rest and to check out the Alternative Summer Capital of the Philippines as a possible place for retirement: Baguio is the official summer capital, but is a long drive north from Manila.

The hotel has a good location on top of a ridge with views of Taal Lake and there is a shopping mall with restaurants on the other side of the road: best access is via pedestrian bridge, as the road is very busy. There are plenty of other restaurants within walking distance on both sides of the road.

My room had two double beds (which was different I guess…lol) and an ensuite. The bed was comfortable enough, but there were brackets at the base (presumably for connecting another bed) which were savage ankle traps when returning from a nocturnal trip to the bathroom: I was rolling around in agony and probably exhausted my considerable vocabulary of swear words…hope there was no-one in the room next door!

The bathroom was very average and the shower head / bottom spout setup was of a type I’d not encountered before: if you want to use the shower head you have to grab the nozzle of the bottom spout, then pull and twist. It was apparently faulty as after two tries they replaced the entire bottom spout, but it was still very difficult to use.

The free WIFI was almost non-existent: I could not get a signal in my room and the only way to get a signal was to either stand in the doorway of my room, or sit at the table in the corridor…and speaking of the corridors, has anyone seen the movie The Shining? The corridors had an eery feeling and other reviews have made similar comments about being reminded of that film…lol

The hotel was clean and pleasant enough, but a bit dated and could do with a refurbishment.

I was entitled to free breakfasts for which I was grateful…local dishes, so it may not suit some Western tastes.

There was a swimming pool, but it was too cold and windy to use.

Staff were great!

A breathtaking, one of a kind view! Very near the Serin mall, and also next to high-quality eats like Martha & Maria's, and Pamana. So nice to also see the old 70's style motifs. What a novel experience to go "down" to our rooms and "up" to the lobby! A very warm and welcoming staff too -- many thanks to the hotel manager, Ms Sally, and her staff.

I do hope they soon refurbish and modernize the hotel! Such a wonderful building with notable history should continue to thrive.

The location is really good. Staff also good and polite and attentive.
Problem is the Toilet doesn't have Bidet, the balcony is dirty and looks old and there's no table or chair to sit in to enjoy the view.

Great location!

Was told no early checkin, in spite of low occupancy … though she may not have misunderstood me.

We were given rooms with a great view! And all of the staff were kind, helpful and accommodating.

We appreciated the free WiFi so that my daughter could take her online final exam back in the states.

For the higher room rate as compared to other properties, we expected more. The rooms are in severe need of a refresh. The decorations, beddings and carpets were worn and tired, a/c in kid’s room did not work and phones were out of order.
And apparently, you have request daily service?

Finally, don’t order room service. Food is delivered cold. The restaurant, better, but hours and menu were inconsistent and limited.

I don't really post something like this, but I can't help it. This is the first time I experienced something like this.

We were a group with students reserved for a seminar at their function room. However, when we arrived, they led us to their dining place which looks like a canteen and said that the function was already reserved! So, why did I pay the downpayment for the function room if it was already reserved??? I didn't want to cause any trouble so I put this concern aside since the students have to have their seminar at the exact time. But NO, it seems that the staff at the hotel didn't know there was a seminar. The speaker arrived an hour late. All of the staff were giving us different reasons as to why there were no speaker available at the time. Too many segues.

Another thing was the food, who serves chicken neck?? What kind of hotel are you? No one was guiding the students from the start. No one was assisting them when they were getting their food.

OBVIOUSLY, YOU DID NOT PREPARE FOR THI EVENT!!! Still, they had me to pay full amount. Even when we were moved to the canteen! Even when the speaker only spoke 30mins and was 1hr late! This is UNFAIR, you treated us as second class because you have government guests? We paid the right amount, and should be taken cared of STILL! Very unprofessional.

Their credit card wasn't working either! Good thing I have cash in hand. What a stressful day this is for me and for the students.

Jan 14 (night)- Jan 15, 2017; We always like to go to tagaytay since it's very accessible and the view is magnificent. I am a hotelier / Housekeeping Manager to be exact. Whether i like it or not it's embedded on me to always check the room. We didn't book online we went there as walk in guest since it's already late so we decided to stay in tagaytay. The location is great it's near Ayala mall, hospital and the LOURDES church. Every time we are checking in a hotel, I am always curious to see how the other hotels maintain their room. Since the room rate given to us is almost the same rate (6,400+) of the deluxe room of the 5 star hotel that I work for. So i expect to get the service that i have paid for. Our first room was C-205, pictures will tell you what we have seen. Carpet is old and dirty. Infront of our door with a piece of tissue? And a vomit or paint stain? Door lockset old and somewhat rusty same with the trashbin. Furnitures with cracks. Refrigerator very rusty. Inside the bathroom, wall with soap scum or molds? And on top of the divider with a piece of yellow plastic. Room so musty. I immediately go to the desk and ask for the Duty Manager. The FOA said the Manager is not available but Bernard the Bellman said he is OIC was the one who approach us, offered and facilitate the transfer. The 2nd room is B-118 better Carpet in the hallway room is quite bigger. I think we were upgraded but the bed is King size from the twin beds that we requested. Since it's already late, all of us are tired and my wife told me to accept the room. Because we still need to have dinner. Even it's door lock is not properly aligned and also hard to close. You really need to push/pull it hard for it to close. With hair strand in the tub. I told Bernard that I still want to talk to the Manager. Food is great during our dinner. We decided to go to the pool area and there's a live band performance and barbecue. Nobody approach us to ask what we need, even though they are atleast more than 7 staff seating on a table, some on top the table. We ordered some drinks and barbecue. We didn't stay long but I still remember that they are only 4 tables including ours to serve with 2 pax per table that night for 7 staff just seating around. Back to our room, Bernard did not explain that there is a sofa bed for my kids. I set up the bed but no bedlinen available to cover it even I already told Bernard that I requested for a twin bed. I called the desk and ask for a blanket but before it arrived we are asleep. It takes them more than 30mins just for a blanket. It's not peak season so I'm not sure if they have alot of guest during that time. The next morning 8am we went back to the pool area because my wife wanted to swim. Theirs one table with dirty plates and beer bottles from last night. Nobody even care to clean it up? 7 staff last night? Trashbin are full. Perimeters is still messy considering its 8am already. Esp hallway going to the pool. What happened to the GY shift? 9:45am we went for breakfast but the selection is very limited, many flies and blowflies for Php350 rate. I think they have enough staff but nobody seems to care to drive away the flies. After the breakfast we went back again to the pool 11am, dirty plates and empty beer bottles are still there. Thank God for the rain because they finally realized to remove it (12nn). I thought they are still waiting for the next shift to clean it up. NO WIFI IN THE ROOM!

Staff should be retrain and hotel is for refurbishment. No Manager around until we checked out. We were given a 2pm late check out.

I am giving two stars for the following:

1. Great location. Close to Rotunda so you don't waste time getting stuck to more City traffic (learned from last visit that traffic is almost heavy to Tagaytay). You can cross and walk to Ayala Serin for meals. And it has great view of Taal Volcano.

2. Great staff. Everybody is nice and accommodating.

Until they renovate this property, I will never return to this place. The carpet is in dire need of replacement. It is musty, stained and gives a really bad smell when you get out of the elevator. Upon entering the room, you can see that the cleaning staff tries really hard since it looked like everything has been wiped down and sprayed with cleaning agents but once the smell of lysol is gone, you'll smell the carpets eventually.

And the whole building even the balcony is dirty and stained from age of the building so no amount of cleaning can take the stain off.

If I didn't pay for 2 nights on non-refundable rate, I would have cancelled the 2nd night. I don't know how this property even passes the Chain inspection!!??!! I have been to a couple of other Wyndham properties before and even if they are budget hotels, they are decent. They need to close this property down for full renovation!!

Never ever to stay there if you want a relaxing vacation.

Location: Easy to find as it along the highway. Shops and restaurants are a few minutes’ drive away.

Rooms: We booked a superior room with two double beds. All rooms facing the Taal Lake view. Despite the place being quite worn out and has seen its days but clean. There’s no LCD TV but box type TV with cable. The aircon is the noisy window type. There’s no wifi in the room. The shower…. don’t know where to begin. It was hard to operate and the shower head as it just spray all over the place and I was so afraid to close the glass enclosure door for fear that the whole thing might get stuck up or fall apart! The flushing of toilet needs one to hold on to the lever forever because once you lifted the lever, it will stop flushing.

Service: Staffs are quite friendly and eager to please but unfortunately, they are VERY inexperience that made our stay not enjoyable at all! Be careful of extra request, they charge extra P50 for extra towel!! The amenities are not complete. There’s no disposable toothbrush or comb though there’s soap and shampoo.

Restaurant: A DISASTER!!! It took ages for most of the things that we ordered. Even the salad (which does not require cooking) takes an hour. We waited more than 1.5 hours for a single pizza order and keep follow up with the waiter who does not have a clue and very disorganise! We told them to separate the dressings for our salads but our request went unheard! We tried to look for the manager but unfortunately, there’s none and the acting manager seems so clueless and offer no comfort. The reason he told us is that because they lack of staffs!!! I mean, come on, it’s a long weekend and the hotel is fully booked. How can one not anticipate that!? That’s why I was surprised that we can still get a booking last minute as other better ranking hotels in tripadvisors which was already fully booked weeks ahead. Think they should be more professional and provide training to their staffs.

Price: For the service and worn out room. It’s outrageously expensive! Paid $6600+ per night. Thank God it’s only one night!

Overall, Days Hotel was supposed to be an international chain but they did not meet my expectation of international standard hotel. I did not enjoy staying here and will NEVER EVER book with this hotel again.

Our van was forcibly opened at the side window and my wife's cell phone was stolen. We were parked only a few meters from the hotel lobby. We complained to the hotel staff, but they apparently did nothing to appease us. We won't be going back to that place.
