The WiFi is best used downstairs or when ur on the third floor having your breakfast. Oh and they only serve breakfast but you can still hang out upstairs, remove your footwear and have food or drinks you’ve bought.
Sonny was very helpful and accommodating with our needs and has smile all the time. We pronounced his name as “Sunnie” and it made him smile more.
Joaquinn was perfectly situated near the Coast Guard and about 3-5mins walk to the town, depending on how fast u walk and about 3mins away from the beach itself.
We were craving for Crispy Pata and theirs' didn't disappoint. :-) The breakfast was sumptous as well. I had fish and eggs while the rest of the gang had tocino. Their chef was also very friendly. He gave me tips on buying beef in Batangas market (wink) The bed was also very nice and they provided an extra bed for our maid.
We lounged at the aviary upstairs and just enjoyed the view the whole morning.
This place tops my list on staff service! From the front desk to the other staff. It has a more personal touch compared to big hotels. I also like that you are away from the crowd and have your own quiet space at the small garden.
We were contented with this BnB. Went home with a big smile and will definitely come back and recommend to family and friends!
Cons:
1. The flat pillows - Albeit being big, flat hotel pillows are unacceptable. I called the receptionist, and they provided me with mediocre ones saying that it’s the best they have at the moment.
2. The remote control – When I took it from the top drawer, the back of the remote fell off. Then, I had a hard time switching between channels. I asked assistance for this again. When the attendant arrived, she said: “baka po ginalaw niyo yung battery”.
3. The cable - It would intermittently turn off. Signal issues I assume. The channel options were so few; cheaper hotels had better channel options.
4. The heater - I had problems adjusting the heat. You only have two options; really hot or really cold. I went to the front desk to ask for assistance on this yet again, and I was told that I needed to "adjust" it as if I didn't know how to use one. Upon my insistence, the technician went to my room and checked it himself. I demonstrated how it can only go from really cold to really hot and nothing in between. He just replied that when it becomes cold, I need to turn it to the right and vice versa.
5. The welcome letter – It said “Dear Valued Guest…”. Well, I paid Php6,000 for the room, I’d assume that they have enough money to at least put my name on the letter and print.
6. NO WIFI
Stayed there on Valentines day.
Cons: The place needs some refurbishing. The room lacked proper lighting and had an awful musty smell. Thank God for the electric fan in the room which somehow helped in flushing out the smell. A huge patch of black mold on the bathroom ceiling completely ruined the experience for me. The musty scent of the room and molds are good indicators of poor ventilation. FYI, molds can produce toxins that can attack the immune system, make people sick and even kill people! Lastly, the service for breakfast was extremely slow. I had to wait for 30 minutes for breakfast; so what if you have a group to attend to! Oh and the beef steak breakfast was more of a beef jerky with onions! It like chewing leather.
Customer service should be the same whether they're traveling by themselves or with a group! I was almost impressed with the taking of breakfast food orders the night before to speed up the process, but apparently that didn't help at all.
There are a lot of affordable places on the ridge and with far better service but unfortunately they were all booked. For the same amount I'd rather take my money to other b&b/ inns or even a proper hotel next time. This place is overrated!
1. Location - near a lot of restaurants and points of interest
2. Nice cozy bed with clean bed linens (very homely and one of the most comfortable beds i've stayed in)
3. Front Desk Staff were polite and eager to please (special thanks to Ms. Ren)
Cons:
1. Parking space is limited. had to double park and be called from the room to move the car
2. Breakfast menu is limited (but I love their Tuyo flakes & Daing na Dilis, .I would also give emphasis on their brewed coffee, comparable with the best brewed coffee i ever tasted)
3. No wifi in rooms. Common area is far from the rooms and a flight of stairs going up from the rooms.
4. The first row of rooms under the common area has a very thin ceiling. footsteps and loud voices from the common area above (viewing deck) penetrate the rooms very easily.
5. Wait Staffs need to be more attentive and more welcoming, it was kind of lonely cause the staffs gave us the feeling that they don't want us there. The girl disappeared while we were eating so when we needed something, there was no one there to serve us I had to get up to the reception and ask Ms. Ren even she’s taking some phone call. The waitress reappeared when we were nearly finished. They need more training in dealing with people and to know what their roles are...and perhaps more formal in their attires instead of slippers and shorts.
Well, we still had a wonderful stay. It's a nice place but very small establishment with staffs needing training.
Minor issues with dust on the furniture, and spider webs of lightings, curtain can easily fall off the rail, had hard time locking the door from the balcony, water takes time to heat up, in our room), a nail is surfacing from the wooden floor that might pose an injury - hope they fix that immediately. We enjoyed the bed, the weather, the view. But hopefully they take time to address these issues at once.
The hotel is also located near dining establishments and attractions but when you're there you might think twice leaving the hotel and instead order some food from room service and enjoy the relaxing/serene setting with the wonderful view of Tall Lake/Volcano.
Until next time!
