Unfortunately we were offered Room 1, a Superior Room and also known as The Cherry Blossoms Room. It is the only room located along the short hallway on the ground floor between the lobby and the dining area beside the garden. With 2 double beds and a sofa bed, it comfortably accommodated my family of 3 adults and 2 kids. The room is spacious and cozy but not enough lighting.
Overall the boutique hotel is a beautiful addition to the expanding range of hotels in Tagaytay. However, if you are a light sleeper, STAY AWAY FROM ROOM 1! We were already asleep when suddenly a big group of inconsiderate people frolicked at the lobby. They were talking loudly and laughing their hearts out at quarter to midnight (later I found out they were friends of the owner)! This went on for almost 10 minutes! My wife and I would normally tolerate this kind of rudeness but I just had to call the front office desk and complain when my daughter finally woke up. A few minutes later the noise died down and at last peace and quiet... until I realized you can also hear the vehicles passing along the highway when it's really quiet. One reason is because half of the wall where the TV is located is made of frosted glass (noise can easily penetrate)... and on the other side is the front office. A blackout curtain is installed but the light outside seeps along the sides and creates a dimlight effect in the bedroom. I do not understand why anyone would design a room this way. Aesthetics over comfort?
I will definitely come back and stay at The Theodore again with my family and next time I'll make sure to be booked on the upper floors facing Taal Volcano. But if you're visiting Tagaytay with only a partner and do not mind splurging a bit more then I would highly recommend The Discovery Country Suites.
Since I booked a room with 2 beds, I had to call and check if they still had a room with a king size bed. Unfortunately, they had one but it was the Moorish room, which isn't exactly my type. In my head, i was visualizing staying in either the Whimsical room or the Retro room. When I got there, I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff. She showed me the room that I booked - the Farm. When I told her I was staying alone, she asked if I would like to have the Whimsical room since the Moorish room just got taken. Of course, I happily said yes because that was the room I was visualizing in my head! :-)
I was very happy with my stay. The bed was comfortable with an abundance of pillows! Lol. They set up the dvd player for me so I had a grand time watching my fave tv series. Later in the day, I felt hungry so I decided to cross the street to Ayala Serin mall despite the pouring rain and chilly weather. Had a great time finishing my late lunch and lounging with a nice warm cafe latte while reading a magazine. When I went back, i just watched another episode and went down again for my free facial massage. Very rejuvenating!
When I woke up the next day, rain was still pouring hard so I just really enjoyed my very lazy Monday in bed. I went down for breakfast and had a fantastic tapsilog then went back to bed.
Wonderful stay. Looking forward to staying there again. :D
This time around, we were with our 3 kids and even before we left, they were already asking when we'll come back. They loved the big room with lots of options where to sleep. It's a perfect place for couples or families who want to spend time together and unwind. Above all, what makes the hotel special is their sincere and warm people who seem to know what you need even before you ask.
thank you
What to love:
1.not crowded, only 10 rooms and no tourists
2.beautiful garden with a magnificent view of taal lake
3.painless check in
4.great staff
5.yummy breakfast
6.free massage and facial :)
Not great at all:
1.very pricey rooms with no windows, claustrophobic level-this was the real deal breaker for me.
2 . rooms with view are way expensive
3.poor lighting in the room
Will I come back? No, would go somewhere else next time.
There were suggestions from all six of us, until we decided to check out a new place called The Theodore. We had no great expectations, we just wanted to have a nice place, with a great view and friendly surroundings. We were pleasantly surprised by the quaint and cozy boutique hotel. We first perched ourselves by the gazebo with some welcome drinks and some girl talk. Then after, we were toured around the theme rooms that were artistically tasteful.
We were lucky enough to meet the owners who were there that day to visit the property. They joined us for lunch in the main dining area, which felt like home. The food was like home cooked meals and the host were most gracious, it felt like we were visiting old friends. Unfortunately, the day ended abruptly since we were trying to avoid the afternoon traffic rush back to Manila; but we left feeling refreshed and contented. Not only do we have a refuge the next time we decide to take a midweek break, but we gained new friends!
The Theodore is a definite thumbs up, check it out!
We had a Vista Delxe Room (Geometric) with garden view first floor and direct vw on the lake. The B&B is quite pricey and requests even a mark up during weekend nights. Prices incrased even during 2017. There is a wecome masage at the spa inhouse but this service was also reduced down to a facial during second half 2017. Plated breakfast offering from menu and provided by next door restaurant. However, sufficient and reasonable. Minibar, coffe/tea maker avalable. Bathroo with convenient shoer and additional tub. Nice garden terrasse. Closeby the mall with various restaurants. Almost everything could be walked but not necessarily conventient walkways.
Front desk service is friendly, a billing issue could not be solved after leaving, email address seems inactive. Street noise during the day but quiet durng night.
Our wedding was in Batangas and we thought that Tagaytay was the next best place to spend our first few days as husband and wife before we fly out to our honeymoon abroad. Hubby and I got the Moorish room through Deal Grocer for only Php3,800. Booking was a breeze and the hotel's staff were very efficient and professional. They reply promptly, with details which are more than just sufficient.
Location-wise, it was perfect--it's just across Ayala Malls Serin. The room was more than what I expected--it was spacious and squeaky clean.
Breakfast was really good. Serving was big and it was delicious. It was also nice, just walking around the garden after breakfast, feeling the cool Tagaytay breeze (it was January and it was cold when we were there!).
I am giving this a 5, since it was a smooth, relaxing stay and the hotel was beautiful. Just beautiful. :)
Pros:
-The superior room we stayed in had 2 beds, a queen-sized bed and a daybed. The daybed is quite short and squarish, we joked that it's the bed for naughty kids.
-They gave us welcome drinks (2 glasses of iced tea) and 2 bottles of water for free.
-Complete toiletries
-Closet in the bathroom to put stuff
-You may request for room slippers from thr front desk
-Friendly and very accommodating staff (even if I think there are only 3 of them there), they act fast and take initiative to help.
-The Deal Grocer voucher we availed for this stay also included a 30-minute massage for 2. The massage was incredible, I wish could extend it to three hours. They have an in-house spa.
-The hotel breakfast was excellent. They even allow you to eat wherever in the hotel you want. I ate mine at the gazebo where I was reading. Husband ate his in the bedroom.
-Bed was comfortable. Aircon okay.
-They allow pet check-in (with extra fee, of course)! Found out about this after our stay though.
-We were allowed to bring food in, with no corkage charge.
-The furniture at the lobby was very nice and modern. Would love to have something like them when I own a house someday.
Cons:
-There were some cracks in the walls and some black cloudy spots on the ceiling. Don't know if the cloudy stuff were molds, but perhaps these can be fixed or cleaned.
-The gazebo had cobwebs around it. Like, there could be webs on my hair when I lean on the gazebo couch. Perhaps the staff can take note of cleaning these outdoor areas more often.
-The small area outside our hotel window also needs serious cleaning.
Suggestions:
-Hope you can add more outdoor gazebos. I think there are only two. Love staying in them!
Had a great stay here. Would definitely come back next time.
