I stumbled upon this hotel in Facebook. I checked the reviews and they were satisfactory. Hence, we booked a room for 4 persons and given the Mid Pines Suite 1. Getting to the hotel we were a bit lost. We did not see any signage to lead us to The Carmelence View. We entered the The Carmelence Lodge which was across it because it had a signage. Only to find out that you have to enter a driveway to lead you to The Carmelence View. This was the only letdown in our stay. It would be better if the hotel had a sign especially for first timers. As we entered the driveway, we saw some old house structures and felt eerie if this would be the hotel. As we moved further along we found the parking and the foyer as you move up to the property. Good thing the hotel lobby had a homey vibe, a far contrast from the hotel driveway and the dilapidated house structures that we initially saw upon entering. The hotel room gave us a good view of Taal Volcano. This was far the best view I ever had in Tagaytay because the hotel rooms have big glass windows that showcase the beauty of Taal Lake. In other properties, you have to step out of the room to see the view, but at The Carmelence View the magnificence of Taal is just right out there easily seen. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. At night, the property is well lit and you can lounge outside the room balcony or in the hotel veranda. The extra bed was a mattress and not really a bed. The breakfast was plated and there are several options for you to choose from. Good selection for breakfast. Given a chance to go back in Tagaytay, I would choose this hotel again. Would like to try their other rooms. Just a suggestion though, hope the management can put up a signage in the main street for the guests. And if they can cover the old house structure in the entry of the driveway. That’s just about it. Overall, our guest experience was very good. …
The only good thing I can say about this place was the view, we had a spectacular view of the lake. We stayed at the Family Cabana and for what we paid, the whole experience was very underwhelming, total rip off. Door was hard to close, bathroom ceiling was full of mildew, shower head was large but the water sprinkled all over the place. Bathroom door doesn’t have a lock and it was hard to open and close. Wall mirrors in the bedroom were stained with black spots. Bed was comfortable but bed sheet had a very visible tear/hole. Blinds to block sunlight were also stained with mildew. Two different curtains (colors and patterns were entirely different) which were sewn poorly was supposed to block the light from outside. Jacuzzi was dirty, so we didn’t get to use it. Wifi connection was weak, staff admitted but no solution offered and elctrical sockets are loose. These were just some of my glaring observations, and I was really disappointed as the photos in their website were complete opposite. Good thing we only stayed overnight. Really hope they consider renovating as the room was visibly not well-maintained.…
We stayed in the family cabana. The pictures in their website are misleading. The room, when we arrived, was extremely underwhelming. For the price we paid, we were expecting at least the basic to be provided with no issue. Water pressure is very low, almost all sockets are loose, some lights are busted, toilet got molds, the roof of the bridge is tattered and covered with curtains. The only saving grace is the view of taal. For it’s steep price, you are better off with other nearby hotels.
Great view of taal volcano. I got the family suite and perfect for a family of 6. There are other rooms enclosed with glass panels for couples as well. Pet friendly too Clean bed sheets though limited Breakfast menu.
I don't like leaving negative reviews and usually do not. And I will preface this by saying, if the hotel treated their guests right, I may have let this go, but I can't. The place is nice enough. The room was spacious and clean when we got there. The listing clearly stated that there is a bathtub in the room which is one of the filters we used in finding a room given this was quite a drive. There was no bathtub. Worse, when I went to the desk to complain, the staff admitted it was their mistake for not keeping the listing updated, but there was no apology (maybe because I kept calm?) He said, there are no other rooms available so they can't give me a room with a bathtub. I was told that they only have rooms with tubs listed on their direct booking site and not on Agoda...uh right. Like I would have known that. Because we were tired form the drive, I didn't have the energy to look for another place plus we needed a dog-friendly place (again, one of the filters we used when we found this place). The room is nice but the buyback for the floor to ceiling glass, is plentiful. Also, note this was not the purpose of why I booked the room in the first place. 1) they use blinds that don't really block the sunlight coming through. So unless you're an early bird, prepare to be awakened at 6 am because the blinds aren't effective. 1 panel wouldn't go down completely, while another one wouldn't go up completely. (was told the maintenance guy was unavailable so they couldn't fix it during our stay). 2) it was quite windy and while this would be good outside, all it did was make the blinds flick and flick through the night, so bring ear pods to block the sound. my husband and I had trouble sleeping. The staff were nice and courteous (aside from the no apology). Breakfast was also ok. Except that I requested for breakfast at 930 am (given the lack of sleep) and they knocked at 730 am, waking me up from an already fitful slumber. They apologized and came back at 930 to serve breakfast when the staff realized they got the time wrong (forgivable). After eating, I tried to go back to sleep since I had a late checkout. unfortunately, they woke me up again at around 1030am just as I was about to sleep, because they were going to pick up the plates. (yup, there's no "Do Not Disturb" signage for you to use). I figured there was no need to wait for a late checkout anymore as I was left more tired than before I checked in. As we TRIED to take a hot shower, we couldn't. Maybe because everyone else was checking out at the same time, the water pressure wasn't enough for the water to come out of the shower. In fact, washing our face at the sink, the water pressure was erratic but at least we got to brush our teeth. Take note that when you do stay here, maybe take an earlier shower before checking out else you may experience the same thing. Like I said, I'm a pretty forgiving traveller. I didn't shout or even argue with any of the staff despite all these. After I asked the guy at the reception what to do and was advised to reach out to Agoda, I did. They refused to acknowledge any mistakes on their end since I was "accommodated int he room I booked" even though they clearly saw the mistake in the listing. Not only that, I sent them an email to air out my frustration, but again, no acknowledgement at all. This is not value for money. There are several hotels in the area offering a great view of the lake. This wasn't our reason for booking. It was supposed to be their amenities which we did not get to enjoy. For the price I paid, I may as well have stayed in better hotel chains in the metro. The only good thing that came out of this is now I have a list of pet friendly hotels with more accurate listings.…
Stayed there to celebrate a birthday. Without precaution it will be hard to see the gate because it is just an ordinary gate with a dim entrance due to lots of trees on both sides. Inside the big compound no one is in sight to ask where the reception is, and you will have second thoughts why the reviews are good and the cost is expensive becasue the place looks just ordinary. But upon entering our assigned room (FAmily Room) everything became a wow. The long table was perfect for a family to sit on whole day and night for kwentuhan sessions. The taal view was fantastic and mesmerizing and we all went crazy over looking the taal, the mountains far over, the lands surrounding it, the beautiful trees down the area we occupied. We even ignored almost the ready lunch (I requested an early checkin if availble and it was granted since it was Thursday no guests ahead of us) becasue we do not want to roam around outsidebeing afraid to catch covid. The place was heaven, very quiet and we can only hear our voices, the calm wind and the birds tweeting and the leaves of the trees gently whissing by the wind. Adjacent to the open are is the enclosed room with beds enough for 6pax, smelling good and fresh and clean. and then next is the big cr. one of us even tried to slide her finders to one of the table top inside to test if its dust free and it is indeed, The a/c was perfect as well, very cold no noise. The food was great, we consumed lunch, dinner, and breakfast the next day and everything tasted great. THe staff are very kind and accommodating. we were even allowed to see the vacant rooms so we can see where we can go the next time we come back and we only saw Murano which is also very good very new and very romantic with an indoor jacuzzi. This is also a very good option if we are only 2 or 3. But given a choice I wud like the Sky king i didnt see it bec somebody was already there, but since its the room on top of Family Room Im sure it is very good as well with a higher view that will make it all perfect. We roamed around the place as well enjoying all the plants and the whole vicinity. The " new managing bosses" were ver very accomodating and even invited us in their simple family gathering that night with free unli coffee, red wine and peanuts. WE had a great time mingling with them thru singing as there was this invited pianist that night. Upon return to our room for the dinner, it was raining hard, which was perfect for us to have our ordered bulalo, crispy pata (which was such a big serving and so crunchy) and the pancit canton. Breakfast the next morning was also very good. I would love to come back again when I have the money.…
Great view. Very quiet place. If you want privacy, this is a good place. But no so much thing to do. You can just roam around to appreciate the nature. There is a nearby mall where you can buy food and stuffs. Been there Nov 2019 to celebrate anniversary.
Stayed here overnight with hubby to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed at Midpines suite 2. The view from the room was breathtaking. There are just some things that needed attention from the management. The place doesn’t have a signage outside, it looks like a regular house. At night, you won’t see it right away. No guard to welcome you, just enter and park. No verification at the front desk. Just say your name, ID was not asked. Complimentary wine is a plus. Room was clean except for the glass windows and panes (see picture). Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for awhile. Bathroom has an open glass wall, so I hope you won’t have to use it for no.2, it will smell in the room lol! Breakfast is ok. Overall, it’s just an ok experience.
Went here for our anniversary. Though understaffed, the staffs are very accommodating and friendly. Pros: arguably, they have the best view of the lake and volcano. Very good location being on a quiet place but at the same time less than 5 mins away from other places of interest in Tagaytay. Spacious rooms. Food is good and very affordable. Free red wine. Room is packed with amenities. 50in Full hd tv with cignal cable. Will give you a basic phone with load to contact front desk and room service as a replacement for a room phone. Cons: Aside from the rooms there's not much to do. Whole place needs to be maintained like the garden, reception area, hallways. Gate entrance is very hard to spot from the road even with waze. You'll even second guess if you're in the right place. Bugs are all over the place at night. Always keep the doors shut so they won't come in. Poor internet service in sky king suite. With good maintenance plus a few more sfaff to take care of the place and the guests, this place has the potential to be one of the best hotels in tagaytay.…
I highly recommend this place! Definitely cheaper comparing to the known hotel in Tagaytay yet it has the best view and very nice interior! Let's not forget about their complimentary wine. We had a pleasant stay, I forgot the name of the staff who assisted us but they are very courteous and welcoming. They are already booked this 2020 and I even booked again for next year. This time I booked their Jacuzzi Suite that is good for 4 pax. I will come back to this place over and over again.
