A genuine bush experience close to the convenience of Maun and the stunning beauty of the Okavango Delta. Tshima Bush Camp is a small, intimate camp close to Maun, the iconic safari town of Botswana. It is situated on 30 hectares of natural bush with direct access to the Nhabe river. Our Meru style tents provide comfort and lots of privacy. Walking trails invite guests to explore the area. You may find duiker, aardvark and a huge variety of birds. From time to time, elephants pass by as well and hippos inhabit the river. The camp serves as an excellent spot to spend the night while travelling between various treasures in Botswana. Furthermore, it is a perfect base for exploring nearby natural treasures such as the world-famous Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and Nxai Pan National Park. The village of Komana is located close by and can be explored to get a glimpse of Botswana village life. Tshima Bush Camp is easy to reach via a good quality tar road, just a 25-minute drive from Maun.

If you are looking for a beautiful, very family place with perfect service and star-worthy food, you have to go to Verena and Russell at the Tshima Bush Camp. With fresh products Verena and Russell made the best dinner I‘ve ever had in Namibia or Botswana. In the morning you get a breakfast with freshly squeezed juice, homemade bread, fresh fruits and the best, they bring it to your tent. Thank you both for a wonderful stay with you. Next time we‘ll stay longer. Katja und Vandre ( aka Conrad)

You can rest assured Russell and Verena will treat you like queens/kings. We arrived at Tshima Bush Camp after days of game drive and camping and stayed a couple of nights. Apart from the delicious home-made food, clean tents and quiet setting, we enjoyed cosy nights chatting to the couple, drinking beer and listening to african stories. If you are in Maun, make sure to stop there.

Coming back from Central Kalahari Game Reserve, we had a one-night stop at Tshima before heading to the Delta. Arriving at Tshima was like coming home. We truly enjoyed this beautiful oasis in the middle of the dry season. The room was cosy and clean, dinner was cooked to perfection and the breakfast basket sent to the room the next morning was a delight. Most of all, we were touched by Verena and Russell's warm welcome and kindness throughout our stay. Thank you for having us in your home! Axel and Aarti

A great stop pre or post a delta safari - we stayed for our first night in Botswana before our 10 night safari & found it perfect to get into the bush spirit. Russell & Verena are incredibly welcoming & you feel like a part of the family (including the 2 dogs, several cats & many chicken) almost immediately. The 4 tents are great & ideal for a sanity check after a long day travelling from the UK with the usual airport hustle & bustle that goes with that - yes the camp is 35/40 mins outside Maun but once you arrive you receive a genuine warm welcome & can relax in the bush. Verena is a great cook & we enjoyed an excellent meal & had a pre-dinner sundowner overlooking the river a short walk behind camp seeing pelicans & kingfishers. Thanks for looking after us guys & hope you have a great season. Chris & Catherine

Reminiscing about our trip last year we realized that we forgot to write a review about this wonderful place. In summary: - amazing hosts with a lot of experience and knowledge - excellent food (but really excellent food), and the breakfast basket served on your private balcony is delicious - clean and comfortable lodge - ... It is such a welcoming place. Definitely worth stopping and good connection to Moremi (for which they organized a trip for us). Hope that we can revisit this place again in the future. we chose to stay at tshima bush camp, after a 2-week safari, to unwind from the relentless pace of the safari and to prepare for the long journey home. we made an excellent choice. arriving, we were warmly greeted by our hosts, russell and verena – and their menagerie of animals. our accommodation was a clean, spacious safari tent, with all the amenities one needs. and the shower was the best of our whole 6-week vacation! dinner that night proved that verena is truly an exceptional chef. everything was fresh and made “from scratch” - homemade tomato soup, ciabatta bread, delicious prawn pasta, and panna cotta. enjoyable conversations accompanied our meals. the breakfast each morning was brought to our patio, and was again a shining example of verena’s talent. we had juice and coffee, yoghurt, hard-boiled eggs, homemade ciabatta bread, cheeses, tomatoes, cucumbers, and fruit. birds and tree squirrels provided entertainment. tshima bush camp’s location outside of maun is a bonus, as we always find maun to be dusty, crowded, and too much hustle-bustle. thank you, russell and verena – we’ll treasure our memories of all you did for us!

We were greeted by our host Russell and Verena at the ned of the sand drive, this was a lovely start to another adventure in Africa. The tented lodge was great, very clean with running hot water. The evening dinner was the best food on our 18 day trip, breakfast was brought to the tent in the morning, nice touch..Throughly recommended, would be our place of choice in Maun for the bush feel with home cooking.

It was a surprise to find in the middle of Botswana such a warm welcome. We wish to thank Russell and Verena, the enthousiastic owners of the lodge, for the pleasant stay in the beautiful tents, the romantic breakfast and the fine diners by candle-light. We wish both of you great succes with the lodge and of course the four dogs cannot be forgotten. Many greetings from Lucrèce and Etienne, Mark and Petra
