Island Safari Lodge is set on a 300 acre private island reserve, just 10 km from Maun Airport. Located on the banks of the Thamalakane River under a canopy of beautifully lush and green Okavango trees, the lodge overlooks a floodplain of fields and water that are frequented by an abundance of birdlife and the occasional hippo. The accommodation is comfortable and set in the lodge gardens. The lodge comprises of 12 Heritage chalets, 6 Family rooms and 6 Heritage rooms, all with en suite showers, Satellite TV and air conditioning. The lodge has a main bar and restaurant area with seating indoors or out in the gardens. You are able to choose from a la carte menu for lunches and dinners accompanied by our wine list. Relax by one of the two swimming pools or head to the restaurant and bar for the river view. For the adventurous there are walking trails, boat cruises, day trips to nearby reserves or longer mobile safaris.

Arriving at Island Safari Lodge was a pleasant surprise, not stayed here before so was not sure what to expect but was certainly not disappointed, beautiful settings on the outskirts of Maun right next to the river. Very friendly helpful staff got us settled in, in no time at all, and of course it did not take us long to find the bar, with the temperature in the high 30's cold beer is very welcoming. Stayed here for three very enjoyable nights, and the lodge organised a flight over the Delta for us. There was a lot of other activities that they will organise for you. Will be back...

Very nice property with lots of activities to do. Game drive was highlight. Saw giraffes, lions, leopard with kill on ground and up in tree.
Good restaurant, gardens, ambience and staff. Decent swimming pool.
Highly recommend a self walk across property to see the animals/game and potential of site.
Okavanga boat trip to Chief Island was cancelled due to low water. Refund was quickly organised (bank transaction took place quickly). Mokoro trips were still possible.
Review is for campsite/camping. Shared ablutions is sufficient. The rooms/houses looked nice and clean.
Would stay here again.

a lodge and campsite located in a beautiful area but which must have seen better days. The campsite's sanitary blocks have been neglected, the braiis broken and not very functional, and the campsite has not been maintained. The staff, however, are very pleasant and smiling, especially in the bar and restaurant. The mokoro excursion was interesting. Overall, we enjoyed our stay with a feeling of “it could be much better with a little more upkeep”.

When I stayed here in February, it was not the tourist season so I was often the only guest. I was so well looked after by all of the wonderful friendly staff! They would light the fire outside in the evenings - sometimes just for me, and the chef in the kitchen cooked delicious meals, even when I was the only one there. The pool was fantastic, very well maintained, and so peaceful! My chalet was just gorgeous! Very clean, and extremely comfortable! The grounds are huge, and beautiful - I spent a lot of time walking around enjoying the serenity. The only downside for me was that most of the activities (such as the Moremi safari) were priced based on how many people were going. As I was alone, and there were very few other guests, the price was way out of my budget. In peak season this would not be a problem, as there would be plenty of other guests to share the cost. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and would recommend it highly!

Far away from town, the final 2 km are a dirt road. The Family Room has only air conditioning, but no ventilation - there was no air to breathe in the room since windows do not open. Using the shower was dangerous - we were getting an electric shock while trying to touch the taps with bare hands. The only good thing about the place was the restaurant - great local dishes at reasonable prices.

The educational group I work with has been bringing students to Island Safari since 2013 and everyone always loves the wonderful atmosphere. It is a relaxing and refreshing oasis not far from Maun. This is the perfect place to do some amazing birding, unwind, and to enjoy good food and cocktails. Our students especially love the pools and the friendly staff. I love the fact that it is a safe location and the staff always does their best to make us feel at home. I am sure we will keep returning for many years to come.

My daughter and I stayed twice durig our our week long visit to the okavango Delta. For us it was the perfect place to base our visit. It's location in a small nature reserve on the banks of the river and yet in close proximity to Maun is hard to beat. Accommodation in the huts has everything I'd expect from a good down to earth African lodge - nothing pretentious but still very clean, spacious and comfortable. Excellent value for money. After a long drive a refreshing swim in the pool, a beautiful walk in the reserve and finally a cold beer and a tasty meal overlooking the river. What more do you need!
But the best was to come. Ours was a spontaneous visit so we arrived by road with nothing really planned or booked beforehand. In no time at all they helped us plan and then book what then proved to be a simply amazing and wonderful experience in the delta. Thank you Britt and Sean for making a dream come true. Without doubt the highlight of our road trip through Botswana and Namibia. I sincerely hope this will not be our first and last visit to the Okavango.

We spent 2 nights camping at Island Safari, the sites were spacious, flat and equipped with two power sockets. Ablutions were clean and light and there was plenty of hot water, convenient access to washing up sinks.
A highlight was the bar and restaurant at the lodge; a broad shaded terrace overlooking the river, dinner and breakfast were excellent and the team very friendly and efficient. The Okavango gin was very pleasant after a day in the sun.
We didn’t get a chance to experience the nature walks around the lodge, but a family of kudu paid us a visit in the afternoon which was quite special.
The reception team organised a mokoro trip for us at late notice which gave a chance to experience the delta at close quarters.

First time to Botswana and it was an amazing trip. Britt, Sean and all the staff were so friendly and kind. They made us feel at home. The safari drivers, Patrick and William were incredibly skillful at what they do . We had a great time from the food , lodge, camp site and Safari drives. We could not have picked better locations. It was an exciting trip for all of us even though some of them had been here before. Every day was an adventure. We did not know what we were going to see. Having been able to stay at Island Safari Lodge was quite a luxury since there were all those amenities ranging from the pool, restaurant, air conditioning, nice path way for any runs or walk, etc. Thank you for allow us to visit you guys. It was a privilege to be able to visit Botswana.

we had a wonderful time at Island safari lodge, the staff was so friendly, the facilities and restaurant was excellent and we even saw elephants from the restaurant deck. the owners also went out of their way to help us in time of trouble. i will strongly recommend them.
