Splash Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Private Kwara Reserve. The area has long been known as Splash due to the huge water crossings that had to be negotiated to access the camp area.Located around a pan, each of the 12 rooms is situated on a deck overlooking the pan which attracts game year round. All are en-suite with a flush toilet, double sinks and both an indoor and an outdoor shower. In addition each room has a private veranda with outdoor lounge chairs, the perfect place to relax and take in the magnificent views and soak up the atmosphere. The rooms and main area are simply and elegantly decorated with contemporary furniture, complementing the atmosphere of the camp.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed at 3 Kwando camps during our safari and Splash Camp had the nicest rooms and facilities of the 3. I think it is one of Kwando's newer camps. The rooms were really nice and the staff was amazing. We were able to see a lot of wild life including wild dogs (only camp we saw them at). I liked the variety of activities from the river cruise to the game drives. Highly recommend.

We stayed here for two nights, on our fourth leg of our Botswana safari & really enjoyed the whole experience.
Splash is Kwando’s largest camps, but still has a great personal feel & great staff.
It’s a newish camp, with a contemporary design, which we loved. We were in room 12, a fairly long walk from the main area in the heat, but we loved it. Spacious, luxurious, with great views over the Pan in front.
Big Tom was our guide & was excellent. We had chosen to pay the not so insignificant cost of private game drives throughout our trip, which really bared fruit on this leg.
We were keen to see an actual predator kill, something that had alluded us on several previous safaris.
Private game drives, allowed us to play the long game, where others in the vehicle would have wanted to move on.
We were rewarded, after a lot of patience to see a Cheetah take an Impala after 3 hours. The whole hunt was magical.
Can’t wait to return to Splash, we will certainly be back.

We stayed 3 nights at this beautiful camp! Every single thing about our stay was just perfect!! The guides and trackers were all very knowledgeable and did an excellent job! We saw loads of animals (lion, cheetah, elephant, wild dog to name a few). Thank you so much for finding all the animals... T.J, Matt, Moyo, Carter, Tuelo and T - You all made our trip! Thank you to Mr Pro and the rest of the team for making our time in camp splendid! The food was delicious (the kitchen made special simple meals for the kids - so helpful and appreciated), rooms were very clean and beautiful! The rooms have great views of the pan in front of camp and you see loads of animals coming in and out to drink. The staff were all very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay great! We can't fault anything! We loved the camp fire area, very natural and we saw loads of animals from the fire area! True African safari! Everything from the welcome drinks to the lovely extra things like singing Happy Birthday to my mum, her cake and her thoughtful Birthday card from the Splash team just made it so special. We highly recommend Splash camp (Kwando Safaris). Thank you to all at Kwando!

This is not just a lovely place, is a place where details are important, there is not many cars around so you can have a better experience when approach to the wild life, guide Alex and tracker George were amazing kind with us and made a difference exploring with them the area, hospitality at the Camp is quite nice and personal help you and assist you very kind, I loved the food and above all, love to share the table with all the guests. Special mention about facilities in the room, to have an outdoor bath it was a great experience watching elephants, zebras, giraffes among others while you take a bath! we were very happy to stay there absolutely happy. Important: There is no Internet connection... or WiFi, so, it is a good moment to connect only with nature, but it is important to know it.

Just back from 8 days in three different Kwando camps in Botswana. Haven't been to comp[etitors camps, so unable to compare, but, all three were excellently run, treats all guests like royalty, and have wonderful guides and trackers and vehicles. Camps were Nxai Pan on the edge of the Kalahari desert, Lagoon, and Splash, their biggest fanciest. Nxai is in the National Park of the same name, mostly dry scrubland and tours to huge salt pans and a stand of high Baobao tress. Park rules preclude night drives. On the Okavango delta, Lagoon and Splash are in Kwandos private reserves and thus offer night drives. Lagoon features hippos just beyond your balcony, and Splash offers boat excursions in additoon to all the usual drives. Food was great. But what really matters are the guides, and Kwando's are fantastic: educated, skilled, environmentally-sensitive, and wholly dedicated to guest experience and safety. They will do everything they can to find you the lions, leopards, and cheetahs most people are coming for, but also wild dogs and cats, hyena, and all the wildlife that most tourists associate with African safaris. All of them know their birds by call and sight and use them to help find the game. Having worked as a guide and park ranger myself, I can't say enough about Kwando's crews. They are extremely professional and well educated. Beyond anything I've experienced in my 50 years with US Park rangers and naturalists.

Our stay at Splash Camp was incredible. The camp is very well run and the cabins are amazing. We were in cabin 1 that was the farthest from the main lodge but we were rewarded with an experience we will never forget-a pride of lions took down a zebra on the second night of our stay quite near our cabin. The camp took good care of us and we had our own African Uber back and forth from the main lodge to our cabin until the lions had finished with their kill. Our guide KLB and tracker KB were excellent, finding African Wild Dogs on our first game drive on our request and then many animal sightings in the days that followed. Thank you to the guides, trackers & camp staff -we enjoyed our visit to Africa and it is much to do with the people as it is to do with the beautiful country.

This was my first trip to Africa and first safari. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but the camp, the staff, and the experience exceeded all my expectations. I could rave about everything all day long. The staff is very warm, hospitable, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. They made us feel welcome, appreciated, comfortable, and safe from the moment we arrived until we departed. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, spacious, etc. The lodge itself is comfortable and feels new. The meals were all great; as good as any food I eat at home!
Our guide, Mr. T, and our tracker, Tops, were fantastic. They were relaxed and fun to be around, but also extremely knowledgeable. They kept us feeling very safe, but also put us right next to the wildlife we wanted to see up close. They also delivered in terms of animals. They successfully tracked and showed us everything we wanted to see; lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, and so on.
The setting of the camp is beautiful and I can't think of one single negative thing to say about the experience. I'm already planning on when I can go back! Special thanks to Rene for making us feel right at home!

Splash is a new camp run by the Kwando concession. We used their camps on a previous trip (5 yrs) and we always enjoyed them. Rooms were modern and comfortable and since it was in the Okavango we saw plenty of animals. Guides and staff were excellent. There were some lions that enjoyed the camp also as they visited frequently. Unfortunately, our cabin had afternoon sun coming in which made the room a bit hot, but we would go out to our shaded deck and relax. Would recommend.

We enjoyed our 2nd visit to Splash as part of our 25 th trip to Africa. We were also joined by our 3 children and our daughters significant other.
Splash is one of the newer Kwando properties. The team that designed an built the camp deserve a lot of credit. It is really well laid out. The rooms are on par with some of the much higher priced alternative camps. The rooms are spaced well apart from each other you have a lot of privacy
The camp is managed at the highest level.
The food was excellent.
The guiding was excellent. We were able to reunite with veteran guide Josiah and his tracker Jonah. Great team! Josiah is one of the top guides in the delta. Watching him track down The famous Cheetah “Mr. Special” was a master class in bush craft.
We saw servil TWICE!
We enjoyed two excellent river cruises - these are definitely worth the time.
I like the fact that Splash can offer game drives on a massive concession but also provide the traditional Delta water experiences. Some of the “Water Camps” in the delta don’t have the flexibility to offer much of a land experience. This camp nails the best of both worlds.
This camp is highly recommended

Arrived mid Sept. We could see large areas burning from the sky and hoped we were not going to be near the smoke and fires however the drive from the airstrip erased that hope. The drive was through a completely burn area, some still smouldering. What should be a mini safari drive to the camp was devoid of animals. The blacked earth absorbs the heat and throw it back like a furnace. The smell was like being plunged into a fishbowl of second hand smoke. The camp was devoid of wildlife while there and any sightings while in camp were at a great distance. The guides admitted the larger wildlife was driven back from the fire area. All drives went through the burnt, smouldering area and much time was spent dissecting every bird as there was nothing else where the fires were. That being said Splash has had excellent accommodation. Spacious with the best lighting of our 3 Kwando camps in Botswana.
The staff less personable/friendly or smiling than at the other camps. The food was just okay. Similar dishes to the other camps, always like a stew or potted food and usually just chicken and beef. Sometimes overcooked and dry. They could do better adding in wild game, barbecues and more variety.
The guides very knowledgeable worked hard to find the larger wildlife with picture taking views. When you did find the one resident Cheetah more trucks appeared. No rhino, lions but did see wild dogs and a leopard, lots of giraffes and elephants. Sometimes the best viewing was with a light in the dark, genets, jackals, hyenas, wild cats, spring hare etc.
Splash was a disappointment but not a total loss, just not worth the hype.

Yes, it is all included so make the most of it. Tips are the only extra and you tip camp staff and game drivers separately. Be generous, they rely on tips and provide such an amazing experience.
Singapore is correct no wifi at Splash, Lagoon or Nxai Pan. Leaves you more time to socialize with guests and guides at and before meals. Adapters are really large round three-prong. The fat prong begins its taper at 1 inch. The short two at 3/4". Often I was able to find an outlet that received a round two prong cord on a rectangular shape almost 1" long before tapering to a 1/4" triangular point at each end. Apologies for non-metric measurements. Have a wonderful time.
Yes there is a charge plug
Little to add. No wifi at Splash. However you are never out of contact so get their e mail/ emergency contact and that of your booking agent. We like the remoteness and not having people talking/ looking at phones over meals/ drinks BUT we have needed an urgent contact on occasion and our agent handled this well, just not as quickly as immediate wifi. Hope this helps?
"The cottages are really well spread out. It's a 5-6 minute walk from cottages 11/12 back to the lodge. I think this is fab...it was like a little game walk 4/5 times a day!"Read full review
