We spend 3 nights at this wonderful lodge. It is quiet and secluded. The staff are all friendly and the service is excellent.

To get to Nxamaseri we were met at the main road next to the Nxamaseri sign post by our Guide Fish (who is always smiling). Who took us to a secure parking area where we left our car and drove with Fish to the boat. We hoped on and took a drive to the lodge.

We were met by the friendly camp managers Adele and Arno. They offered us a lovely welcome drink and explained everything we needed to know about the lodge, safety info (an ordination basically).

The rooms are new, very comfortable and just beautiful. The beds are so comfy! There are plug points to charge phones and cameras. There is a fan which is great in summer and a safe to lock away valuables. The bathroom in our room had a lovely view and very spacious (big shower and double vanity)! At night you listen to the frogs, hippos and it is so relaxing. There is also a nice deck with a table and chairs in the front of the room where you can read a book and relax.

The meals were all delicious. Breakfast is simple a selection of cereals, fruit, toast and muffins to get you started before you head out on a morning activity. We were there to fish so we left by 6am. Lunch when you return in the afternoon is always a nice hearty meal with freshly baked bread (yummy)! Then we rested and relaxed by the pool till around 4pm when they serve biscuits and tea/coffee before heading out fishing for the late afternoon. Before dinner you enjoy some snacks around the camp fire and bar before dinner. Dinner is a 3 course meal and everything was superb!

Fish our guide was very knowledgeable and also helpful with fishing (being a lady who likes fishing, but doesn't fish often it was nice that our guide Fish offered me tips and helped me out if I needed). Fishing the barbel run was good fun and we caught some nice tiger fish and barbel. All catch and release fishing.

Fish was great at telling us about the area and the birds. We saw so many birds. Giant Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Malachite Kingfisher, Carmine Bee-eaters, African Darters and loads more (that's just naming a few). We had a sundowner on the boat (G&T's) before heading back to the lodge in the evening.

Everything was perfect! The amazing lodge, the friendly staff and the fishing was great! All in all a great trip! I highly recommend visiting this lovely lodge if you love birding, fishing or if you need a place to relax!

The travel south from the Caprivi Strip was following an excellent stay at Hakusembe River Lodge. The road condition was reasonable and we eventually found the turn off for the Lodge.Down a sandy track which needed 4x4 wheel traction, we sounded the car horn for Paul to appear and open the electric fence. We left the Isuzu in his care and we were collected by Adam driving one of the Lodge's open sided safari vehicles.

At this time of the year, with no rains since February, the vehicle was able to take us to the collection point for the small boat to take us to the lodge. The flat, but swampy grasslands which would normally be under flood waters from the Okavango river were full of cattle and horses feeding on the plentiful supply of grass.

The river tributaries of the Okavango were low but after a short trip to the Lodge past huge swathes of papyrus, we were warmly welcomed by the staff with a traditional refreshing drink.

This is a small Lodge but absolutely delightful. It overlooks the waters full of reeds and the individual rooms are accessed by raised board walks. The rooms were lovely. The bed was beautifully decorated with wild flowers and was immensely comfortable. All amenities were present and a small balcony looked out over the 'dry' river bed.The sound of birdsong and monkeys playing in the trees kept us amused for some time.

Excellent breakfasts were followed by light lunches and then wonderful dinners shared with fellow guests. We still marvel at how the chef was able to produce such lovely treats.Wines are primarily good South African labels.

Spending time on the small flat bottomed boats with our wonderful guide, Adam, made the trip such a delight. Crocs, hippos and birdlife were in abundance and the cry of Fish eagles gave the excursions and extra buzz.Once on the main Okavango river, we just stopped the engine and listened.Wow.

So a fantastic stay at a Lodge we cannot recommend enough.Thank you team.

What an amazing 3-night stay we have just had. The Lodge is well located in the Panhandle and is quiet and secluded. We caught the barbel run and hence had amazing fishing over the three days we were there. Our fishing guide, System, was really super and did all he could to ensure that we found the runs and caught fish. We caught a good number of Tiger Fish, several of a good size, including my first ever at over 5kg. We also caught a good number of barbel. The birding was also great with over 45 species recorded on our fishing trips. The Lodge itself was lovely and Action and his team were all incredibly friendly, approachable and went out of their way to make sure that we had a good stay. The food too was great. I could not recommend the Lodge and its fishing and birding more highly.

We stayed here recently while on a small group tour of Namibia and Botswana. It’s very secluded, needing a 20-minute boat ride to get to it. The lodge itself is roughly 40 years old and could use some care to bring it up to the standard of the other lodges we stayed at on our trip. For example, there is no mosquito netting around the bed, which wasn’t needed during our visit, as we were there in the dry season, but would be a must in the rainy season.

Adam took us on great boat rides, where we saw hippos, crocodiles and numerous birds, including fish eagles. Obe was the temporary manager while we were there, and she was great. The food was great as well, especially the breads, which were baked on site each day.

With a little it ofmeffoet this place could be the outstanding lodge I’m sure it once was. We also visited Tsodilo Hills, where the ancient San rock paintings are.

Nxamaseri Island Lodge, so remote, so wild, so unspeakably beautiful! Thank you Adam, Bee, Boi, Action, System and the gang for making our stay so memorable. Boi's cooking was extraordinary, even for my picky vegetarian daughter... aAdam was a kind guide and everyone took exceptional care. of us. A truly wild place with truly wild environs. Bird life breathtaking. Hippos! we even saw an elephant and the world heritage site, Tsodlilo Hills and ancient paintings. Really singular experiences far off the beaten path. Highly recommend.

We visited here to gain ready access to the Tsodillo Hills rock art but found the lodge equally memorable to the Hills. Adam was an exceptionally knowledgeable birding guide and we greatly enjoyed boat trips through the marshes and to the main channel of the Okavango. Accommodations were very comfortable and the food was delicious.

Once there (see below) we really enjoyed Nxamaseri. As we don't fish this was a birding destination for us, as well as part of a water/land balance for our itinerary as a whole.

You can only reach it by boat and there are no other lodges in the immediate area, which makes it wonderfully tranquil. Our guide Adam was excellent and we saw so many new birds (to us) during our private boat and mokoro excursions. Tian, one of the owners, was extremely helpful.

The accommodation is simple and we are definitely not ones to 'rough it' but this was rustic in the best sense and we loved it. There is only a low wall at the front of the 'room' so it is open to the air unless you want to roll down a canvas cover. It was wonderful to wake up at dawn looking through the trees at the rising sun. It's the fresh air appeal of camping but in comfort!

With regard to the journey there from Maun, I have advice based on our experience.
The A35, which is the road used for most of the journey to Nxamaseri, is indescribably awful. The size and sheer number of potholes, which join together to make avoidance impossible, makes this a challenge even for confident drivers. If you are happy to take it on, leave plenty of time for the journey and take it easy.

Great place to visit, particularly if you love fishing (in the relevant months) or just to visit other wise. A good birding area too. Tiaan and his team really go out of their way to look after you. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
