Detailed Reviews
We arrived in the guesthouse after a long day of travel from Kasane so we really needed a hot shower and a comfortable bed and this place was exactly that. Andrew was there to greet us and check us in. He was very helpful and welcoming.
The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower was hot and the towels were lovely. Andrew offered us a lift into a local bar which was very helpful.
The guesthouse was little bit out of town but the taxi fare into the village was very reasonable and it was only a short car journey.
We were able to organise our Delta trip and basket weaving activity trough the staff which was very convenient. The tour groups picked us up from the guest house and dropped us back there in the afternoons.
I would recommend this accommodation if you are looking for somewhere a little bit out of town and quaint. The staff are wonderful and we felt very safe here.

After a hussle from a camping safari, all we wanted was comfort and hot water. Thamalakane delivered! We arrived to a tranquil spot with comfortable beds, a self serve kitchen, hot water and friendly faces. Andrew greeted us upon arrival. We had originally booked for 1 night but after some consideration decided to extend our stay by 3 more nights. Andrew kindly dropped and collected us from our restaurant of choice on our first night at a reasonable price to ensure our safety. Due to late booking of additional nights, we had to move rooms mid stay. Thankfully the staff recognised the importance of the box of wine we left in the first room and kindly transferred it to the fridge of our new room!! Through Andrew we booked a number of excursions which allowed us to experience authentic Maun. The staff here were so friendly and helpful, we felt so comfortable and at home here. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

It has been a pleasant accommodation where we received friendly treatment and support in getting transportation and tours to the city's attractions.
The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, as was the bathroom with a hot shower.
It is located a little away from the central core of the town, however these situations are frequent in Africa.
There are no stores nearby, so I recommend purchasing the necessary supplies in advance.
I recommend it.
Enjoy Thamalakane guest house because: LIFE...is a JOURNEY!

I am a regular customer here, but the place is getting moore and more run down. No maintenance. Taps of shower loose and broken. Airco capacity too low. Bed linen had holes. Water pump was switched of at night and nobody could be reached. My clients had to clean the pool theeservies. No tea. Etc

My wife Ash and I stayed for a da6 either end of our safari. We found the place comfortable, immaculately clean and the staff very helpful indeed. It’s also quiet, away from the road, no dogs 8n the night and we slept well both nights which is what we needed. Kitchen facilities have everything you’ll need. We’d advise phoning or emailing ahead and having them organise a taxi for you if you’re arriving st the airport. Unaccustomed drivers find it s little hard to find, but you could download a map from Google. I wasn’t that organised. Overall, excellent value for the money.

It's a little place in a very quiet rural part of Maun. Good wifi, great AC, free filtered water. They accept cards for the payments. We had a room with a fully functional mini-kitchen. Probably the easiest and nicest meal option is to stock at one of the supermarkets and to cook for yourself. Ask for direction for a short walk to the river, peaceful view and some birds guaranteed.

Thamalakane GH provides three star accommodation for medium budget tourists and visitors on a self catering holiday in the Okavango swamps.
It was not too easy to find as the turn off is marked with a small sign and a very informal track to the gate.
The amenities are fair to good and comfortable. Safe off street parking and a secure environment ensures guest security with a pleasant garden where a drink can be shared in the lapa.
Our room was not spacious but offered all the necessary to ensure a good stay with clean and comfortable bed and linen, great shower and cupboards as well as a kettle, coffee, tea and a small bar fridge. Some of the finishes were a bit lacking eg the tiling, plumbing pipes, paint work etc but for the price it does not justify to make too much a fuss of such.
Guests share a suitable kitchen and lounge area which may be crowded should all 3 rooms be occupied. A three stage water filter ensures that a steady supply of drinking water is available.
Andrew at reception was helpful and accommodating.
Wi Fi connectivity was OK and the TV offered few channels - not that this is a priority when in the Okavango.
We will make use of this guest house again in future should we require a stay over in Maun

We stayed at Thamalakane twice and were well looked after by Andrew and his team. The rooms are comfortable with a fridge, TV and AC. There is a kitchen/diner which you can use to cook and enjoy meals. The garden is well kept and you can relax and enjoy a bbq out there. It's a few km out of town but most affordable places to stay appear to be. There is free filtered water.
