We were the only guests at this small lodge when we were there, but the staff did not skimp! It's a lovely property with a beautiful dining/bar/pool area, and spacious and beautiful sleeping tents. Very relaxing and a lovely place to just sit in the peace and quiet and watch the animals at the watering hole by the pool.

But by far the best part of the lodge is the bartender/chef/manager Kabelo. Kabelo completely made our stay -- she was warm, helpful, and served us a spectacular, private four course dinner by lantern-light, while pointing out the visiting zebras. She's worth her weight in gold and we hope the owners know what a credit she is to the property!

A great place to spend a few days - the staff and owners could not have been nicer. The food is very good, the rooms clean and well appointed, excellent security and conveniently situated for visits to Nxai Pan and Khumaga - Makgadikgadi. This would be an excellent place to start a trip because Rob's personal knowledge of Botswana in general, and the bush in particular, would add tremendous value.

An oasis of calm with very warm welcome from Cabala, lovely welcome drink and personal attention taking us to our room, which was beautifully made up. As it was cold in the evenings at this time of the year, when we went to bed a hot water bottle (Bush baby) had been put in the bed.

Food was fantastic cooked by Cabala, with the open air restaurant overlooking an area of their park/farm where the wild animals come to get water. A log fire was lit in the evening where guests could sit outside in front of it after dinner.

The entire staff are a credit to Carolina, we were so impressed that we cancelled a stay at another guest house to return to Leopard Plains for another night.

Lovely breakfast with freshly cooked options also. All the food is home made, including the bread which was made fresh each day.

Response from Tim Flachberger, Owner at Leopard Plains
Responded May 30, 2022
Sehr geehrte Frau Rasmussen!

Nice rooms, nice property. Staff at the restaurant is really nice too.

Unfortunately, when I asked at the end of our 1st visit to have another room for our 2nd visit three days later, the owner himself and the general waitress laughed openly at me about the reason. It was very humiliating, and not what you'd expect from a service of this standing.

The decision to travel in this difficult times ( because of the pandemic) and not to postpone it for who knows how long paid off. We didn't see any leopards because it was thw dry season but plenty of other things to do. Good food and the loaf of bread baked daily by Mma Kabelo won't be easily forgotten. But the real bonus were the starry nights watched laying on the chairs by the swimming pool.....a dream came true....

I had a great stay at Leopard Plains and would definitely go back. The accommodation is very beautiful and laid-back. If you are searching for some quite moments, it´s a good place to go to. It is not far away from Maun and also close to the famous salt pans. The rooms are very nice and equipped with everything you need. Dinner was really delicious, but I missed a bit more attention to detail especially for the breakfast. Further there was no possibility to go on any guided activity, self-service during the day for drinks, not enough sunchairs at the pool for a tiny amount of guest and they didn´t accept credit cards, due to some issues, at that time. I am aware of corona and that the industry is having a tough time, however there were too many tiny little things missing for a 5 star rating.

As we went there after the rain in a green season, we didn't see any leopards. They might have come around our tents, but we couldn't see them. However the lodge was very welcoming: we arrived late but they organised a sunset game drive, they offered us pick up and drop off between the bus stop, and so on. The tent was spacious and cozy. The dinner was interesting as we ate bone marrow! We had a great time there. Thank you so much.

I stayed at Leopard Plains for 2 nights. I've had a very warm Welcome, and already the first impression of the lodge was fantastic. The dining area was cozy, as well as the bar. The stuff was very, very friendly, the food delicious. Host Tim is a really personable, friendly guy. The tents are big, very clean, comfortable and situated in the bush. It's really nice to hear all the birds and animals that are around. The Makgadikgadi Pans N.P. is nearby, the next gate is only 45 km away. This offers amazing impressions, for example to famous spots like Baines Baobabs or the Hippo Pools, where you can see incredible numbers of elephants.

We stayed here for 2 nights and did an enjoyable guided day trip to Makgadigadi Pans National Park as well as morning game drive on the property. Lovely setting. Received a warm and friendly reception. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed cooling off in the swimming pool in the severe late September heat. The bar area and dining area are lovely. Unluckily we did not experience much of the tranquility and peace, since they were also accommodating a large group of motorcyclists participating in an event over the same two days we were there. However, Carina and her staff made every possible effort to accommodate us and ensure and enjoyable stay.
