Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were friendly from our check in to leaving. Room is spacious with a big comfy bed, good bathroom area but just needed better storage for clothes like shelves and more hangers too. Location was great, at the end of the town but we liked the quiet and it’s so small the far end of Main Street is only 15 min walk. Super market was 5 mins away for any snacks water etc. Wi-Fi was great, I read there wasn’t any in el chalten but they’re wrong it was in many bars too. Same with exchanging dollars to pesos, I read very hard here but this hotel did and so did many bars. Their lunchboxes were very pricey I thought, nearly 2000 pesos (£8ish) so we just made ham sandwiches at breakfast and took them with us for the day. Also got our own water and snacks from the supermarket. If you wanted a more exciting sandwich then stop at the bakery Bantone that does any sandwich you like, really well priced and freshly made bread. Also great pastries like cinnamon rolls, really recommend! (Far end of the Main Street from the hotel) Only downsides we felt were that the bathroom was dated, not always hot water for the shower. Bins were too small when you have to use them for toilet tissue too. Pool area was tired but it’s nice relaxing in the hot pool after a long day. Overall would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is very nice, with quality facilities and very careful decoration. We stayed in a duplex room with a mezzanine, very comfortable since we are a family of 5 adults. But the best thing it has is the human warmth of its employees. A special thank you to the reception team (valentina, milva, etc) who did everything possible so that we could stay an additional night. Also Aime from reservations and all the people at the bar and restaurant were super attentive. We had a very nice family stay!

We just checked out after a three night stay at Destino Sur Hotel & Spa. The hotel is conveniently located, has a helpful staff and a wonderful breakfast. We also each had a massage and that was fine as well.
However, when we first arrived we noticed a faint bad smell in our bathroom. By the second night it was so bad we had to keep the bathroom door shut to keep the awful smell out of the room. We notified the front desk in the morning and said they would send someone immediately to check it out. When we returned from our hike the bathroom smelled much better but there was no water. We then reported this to the front desk and were told it was out in the hotel and to expect it back by 3pm. At 3:30 when there still was no water I checked in at the front desk and was told the water was out for the whole town and it should be back on by 5pm. At 6 pm, when there was still no water, we were told that the water in the town was back on, but the tanks for the hotel needed to fill before it would run in our rooms. At 7 pm we were finally able to go to the bathroom and I tried to take a shower, but the water ran out mid shower. I again reported to the front desk and was told that everyone started to use the water and it had run the tanks dry, so they were filling again. At 9:30 pm there was STILL no water in the hotel. By 8 am the next morning it seemed to be working again. I get that some of this issue appeared to be out of the hotel’s control, but it does say something that even after the town had water, the hotel did not for several hours. I felt so bad for the front desk staff. They were consummate professionals apologizing and trying to provide whatever update they had. The hotel manager apparently was offering free drinks at the bar to make up for the inconvenience…. But when there is no running water the last thing you want to do is drink a lot.

Destino sur The location of this hotel is perfect. It’s really close to the start of the trailhead for the Laguna Del los Tres hike. We found that there weren’t very many nice hotel options in El Chalten so this was a good choice. The breakfast was great with lots of options to fuel yourself ahead of a long day of hiking. One disappointing part of the hotel was the Spa area. The pool was not very clean and the Fitness suite was seemed like it was just a bit of a tick box to get their stars. It was an incredibly small room with only cardio equipment; when you’re in one of the best locations for hiking in the world the last thing you’re gonna want to do in a hotel gym is cardio- would suggest replacing the Treadmill with some weights And stretching equipment instead.

This hotel is located very close to the beginning of the trails and the main street. It is a very nice hotel, very good staff. It features a bar, restaurant and spa area with a small pool, jacuzzi and massage area. We were in a superior double room, it was large, comfortable, and very well equipped, the only thing was the wind, the two nights were very windy and it felt so much that it made it difficult to sleep a little (the room is located on a third floor perhaps on the lower floors not so much the wind is felt) Very complete and rich breakfast! We had dinner twice in the restaurant, excellent food and attention from the boys!!

We stayed here four nights while we made day treks from El Chalten. The staff was amazing and we appreciated that their English was great. We arrived at night and ate dinner in their restaurant. We ordered guanaco, beef, mushroom dumplings, (see photo) and a tuna poke bowl. We began each morning with the breakfast buffet that was included with our rooms. It consisted of breads, pastries and cakes, cereal and seeds, yogurt and orange juice, freshly prepared bacon and eggs, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was efficient. In the evenings we enjoyed conversation in their bar which stayed open until midnight. The front desk was helpful in making dinner reservations and the US/peso exchange was the best we encountered in Argentina. This relatively new establishment was on one edge of the town but it was easily walkable to restaurants, many of which were only a block or two away.

We spent 3 days with my family. It is a nice mountain hotel, good service and above all impeccable cleanliness. There aren't many options in El Chalten, but it's fine for a few days. The breakfast is a little basic but passable, the only annoying thing is that the floors make a lot of noise, if you wake up at night to go to the bathroom, the creaks of the wood wake up everyone in your room and also the walls are very thin, You hear everyone who passes by your door in the hallway. The rooms are smaller than they seemed but everything is fine inside, the bathroom has good hot water pressure. The bed was good but the pillows could be better. The attention of the staff is impeccable.

Really great staff, very helpful and friendly. Felt very welcome. The room is comfortable, just a little dated. Walls are thin so bring earplugs. Great restaurant that uses local produce and has quite a few vegan options. You can also request a packed lunch for the next morning (the empanadas are great) to take with you on your hike. Large indoor pool and hot tub, perfect for a post-hike soak. Massages are available but only between 5-8pm. Location is close to the Fitz Roy trailhead and the main road of shops and restaurants. The hotel is probably one of the nicer places in El Chalten but is more like a mid-range hotel elsewhere.
