This really is the perfect spot to stay in while hiking in El Chalten. The rooms are warm and clean and Eduardo the owner is charming and helpful. The individual cabins are spaced apart, with a lovely lawn in between them, with a big table for eating outside when the sun is shining. The lawn also comes with deckchairs for enjoying the sun while it lasts.
The Base also has a large kitchen for cooking as a group, and comfortable indoor lounge for when it's cold. It really is the perfect place to stay while in the lovely town of El Chalten.

We stayed a couple of nights at Posada La Base and if we’d go back to El Chalten we’d stay her again! This place has the right ‘laid back El Chalten feeling’. The rooms are in cabins which are set in the garden. They have a good size and are clean. In an equipped kitchen which you share with another room, you have the self-service breakfast with homemade bread. You can also use the kitchen to prepare other meals. If the weather is good you can sit in the garden with a view on Fitz Roy. In case the weather is bad, you can also use the tv-room. You’ll pay a very good price if you stay more than one night. The owners are very friendly, helpful and they speak some English.

We found a very nice place to stay in a 2 pax cabin. There were two rooms with four single beds each. There is a bathroom and a kitchen with a dining room. Everything was provided to cook for ourselves. Note however, that buying ingredients can be difficult in Calten, as there are very few supermarkets. Would stay again!

After Two months of travel in South America we planned 9 days in el Chalten for trekking and relaxing. We were looking for a nice place to feel like at home. Eduardo's place was that and even more with the garden, the BBQ and the great breakfast plentyful and so good ! More over Eduardo and his wife are trully nice and will do everything for their hosts.

We spent five days in this hostel in El Chalten. Eduardo is a friendly host, the room we had was spacious, quiet, clean and nice, leading direclty to the garden. Two rooms share a well epuiped and clean kitchen. Breakfast with delicious homemade bread! There is a tv-room with a lot of dvds for rainy days (which we luckily didn't have :-)).

My husband and in loved our stay in El Chalten at Posada La Base. We stayed for 7 days and could not have asked for more. Eduardo and his wife were very very helpful and Eduardo has excellent English (we have terrible Spanish). Our cabin was big and very clean, with queen size bed and a private bathroom, plus a table and cupboard. We also shared a kitchen with one other cabin, but had it to ourselves most days. Home made bread was provided for breakfast, with real coffee to cook on the stove. The kitchen was equipped to enable cooking and had a mini fridge too. My only gripe is that the shower was a little small. Rooms are cleaned every two days.
El Chalten is a fairly small town, and while La Base is further away from the trail head to FitzRoy (15 min walk), it is closer to supermarkets and restaurants.
I highly recommend spending a bit of time in this charming town. We are glad we did! We could have stayed longer and if we go back again, we would not hesitate to stay at La Base again!

Owner is very friendly and helpful. Very nice breakfast. Excellent kitchen for self catering. Very clean and reasonably priced. Definitely would stay again and happily recommend to fellow travellers.
