Having stayed in the Bayview on several occasions previously we were extrely excited to return having so many fond memories of the hotel and our most recent visit certainly did not disappoint! There were so many excellent points and highlights, I'll do my best to cover them all here:

The location is stunning, views are perfection and a short walk to the pier for a summer sunset is an absolute must.

The reception, bar, and restaurant were all extremely well appointed and felt very fresh and clean.

The majority of the staff were amazing, the service was great from start to finish and we were looked after like royalty!

The absolute highlight for me was the food in the restaurant! We ate in the hotel the 3 nights we stayed the the food was flawless. This is accessible fine dining at its best, and worth every cent. The menu varies slightly every evening and you can taste the food is super fresh, also evident by seeing the local suppliers vans regularly make deliveries, so it's great to physically see the produce is fresh and local. I would travel to ballycotton this minute for the food alone, every dish on the restaurant, from breakfast to dinner was delightful!

The only things that detracted on any way from our stay were:

The lunch menu in the bar was minimal and basic in comparison to what it would have been when we visited a few years ago. Again you could tell it was the best produce, but just did not really entice us to have a second lunch in the hotel. The fact that the bar was also not serving dinner was a little disappointing as it was always a fabulous setting for a casual evening meal. I imagine these changes could be staffing related, and would hope when we again return to see the bar back to its higher standard of food offering.

Lastly, the rooms, while comfortable and pristinely clean, they could do with a refresh, they are just feeling a little tired.

Overall I will most certainly be returning and would reccomend a visit to the Bayview very highly. As the title of the review states the location and dinner experience here is second to none!

just home from one of the most enjoyable few days ever spent at a hotel where my sister married her husband
from the moment I pulled up in my car and then leaving the hotel the staff were fantastic. looking after me and my family and running a wedding party for 50plus people were just 100% nothing was a problem and anything we needed was delt with there and then the location is probably the best in cork if not in Ireland ever room had a sea view and all had spacious rooms .
Food from the kitchen was delicious and staff were always on hand go fill your plates or your wine glass
The manager Isaac and the girls on the main desk did over and above their jobs in looking after everyone they are a credit to the hotel
Will I stay again yes can't wait and recommend anyone looking for a small private wedding thus is the place
WELL Done
Bayview hotel 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We stayed four nights in this hotel while attending our daughter’s wedding and I can’t give enough plaudits to the staff regarding the service and attention that we received. Special mentions straight away to Isaac, Lorna and Tadhg. The food in the restaurant is magnificent, whether for breakfast, lunch or especially the evening dinner. We were lucky that the weather was excellent for the time of year and our sea view room, looking across the expanse of the bay, provided us with a magnificent vista. Sitting on the terrace outside in the sunshine with a glass of wine in the afternoon is the epitome of decadence.
The wedding ceremony itself was held in the restaurant, with all furniture perfectly rearranged for that purpose. Afterwards, thanks to the hotel staff, it was all very relaxed for photographs and drinks before a delicious Wedding Reception dinner back in the restaurant again. Music and dancing later was conducted on a fantastic mobile/custom construct dance floor! All in all, a perfect wedding location, for a smaller group of guests.

Jusy arrived home from a wonderful day in east Cork. On a whim decided to take our new puppy for a spin and arrived in Ballycotton mid morning. As my husband and I strolled along the beautiful Ballycotton village we came across this gem of a hotel. I popped into the reception where I met Eoghan. This gentleman genuinely comes across as loving his position in hospitality. I enquired as to availability to a lunch reservation explaining I had a dog with me......"No problem'!! We took some coffees the terrace and enjoyed the spectacular views of the bay, the fisherman on the pier and people enjoying themselves jumping from the pier!!! We returned from a short walk to a nearby beach to take our table, again on the terrace where my husband enjoyed pan fried cod and I had a perfectly cooked steak, our order taken by Eoghan. Our server was a lovely blonde girl (I apologise I didn't get her name) who was also very attentive and friendly. I look forward to booking some time this wonderful hotel for what I expect would be an amazing break!!
Thank you Eoghan and all the staff.

Charming hotel with picturesque views over the bay. Staff Were very welcoming and professional. Strict procedures Were in place regarding health and safety relating to Covid virus. The Food was fabulous and The customer service brilliant. Staff were kind, courteous, and friendly.

Our room had a balcony overlooking the bay. The bedroom and en-suite were in need of a little maintenance and updating and bed linen and towels were a little tired looking ( duvet cover Was threadbare in two places) , our room lacked air conditioning which was needed as we couldn’t open the balcony doors without pulling back curtains ( it was bright from 4.45am onwards).
However the positives of friendly and professional Staff and great food outweigh the negatives of The bedroom.

Myself and my husband stayed for 3 nights including dinners and breakfasts. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt the peace of Ballycotton. The room, food, service, cleanliness was wonderful. We had a gorgeous view of the bay from our room and just couldnt have asked for a nicer break from it all. The dinners in the evening were superb and the deserts were a work of art and really very different - compliments to the chef. We caught the tour to the lighthouse, watched the Rugby in the Blackbird, sampled the ice cream from the local parlour, sampled fish and chips from Skinnys! It was our first visit to Ballycotton and definitely will not be our last. We would stay in the exact same hotel 100%. You exceeded expectations. We have always visited west Cork and whilst it too is gorgeous, East Cork has opened up a new destination for us. I nearly forgot ... on our last day, a pod of dolphins came into the bay - amazing !!

Stayed 2 nights in September 2022.
Hotel and staff was lovely, they could not have done more for us.
However..The food in their restaurant was auful.
Breakfast was greasy, coffee was instant ,if you required better coffee you had to pay extra for it .
Dinner was equally disappointing. My husbands fish was way over cooked and dry.My steak was tough dry and almost cold, also I could not even see where the sauce was .We got 3 boiled watery potatoes with the black eyes left on them.Greasy aubergine and a mushroom cut in half.No vegetable at all .The dessert was even worse, A chocolate tartlet, again dry and tasted auful.I left nearly all of the dinner .
Breakfast the next morning..we ordered pancakes they were just ok.but again hardly any syrup, and not even a piece of fruit .
We would stay there again ,but not eat anything at the hotel.

Hotel seems very outdated, possibly hasn't recovered post-covid. No bath towels in our room,no wardrobe,no iron or ironing board. We had an event elsewhere on the Saturday night and returned on a bus of 50 people to a locked hotel! When we were admitted by the solo night staff member it was straight to bed-no residents bar option even offered. Breakfast in the morning seemed to have been cooked the previous morning. A long long way from 4 stars, and that's before we had 4 false fire alarms.

Just back from a return visit to the Bayview Hotel in the unspoilt village of Ballcotton.
We had a wonderful stay in superior rooms with balcony overlooking the bay. The hotel staff could not have been nicer and dinner in the hotel restaurant was exquisite my daughter had the monkfish I had steak and my husband had lamb overall a delicious meal. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious with everything made fresh to order.
The views from the hotel are breathtaking if you want to switch off relax and see nature at its best this is the place for you.

Stayed in the Bayview for 2 nights early December 2023. We had a beautiful warm bedroom with stunning views of Ballycottom harbour and lighthouse and the setting for breakfast in the bay window was truly amazing. Every member of staff that we encountered were exceptionally friendly and helpful, in particular the welcome of the two ladies at reception and the barman with his attention to detail. We look forward to our next stay in the Bayview.
